Sweet, sweet Ableton. How I love you. You seem to be have become an extension of my musical brain. Having used a few DAWs over the years (I was mainly a Cubase guy) I finally got the chance to create on Ableton. Much to my elation, this was through a lifelong friend and Ableton wizard Aaron Lager of MSH TH CNTRLR. We began collaborating with him showing me his many tricks. We have since started our own project and I have logged beyond countless hours behind the Launchpad and Push. Session view is the main difference between Ableton and other DAWs. I will teach you from the basics of production up through using Ableton in live performance. Prepare for a life-changing musical experience!

Matt Starling has taught Ableton as a professional music teacher in the Salt Lake City area public schools for 8 years, and teaches Ableton at the college level at Salt Lake Community College.

Starling is also a successful producer, composer and band leader. In 2009, he founded the critically acclaimed Salt Lake Electric Ensemble, an experimental computer music group of 10 members where each musician plays Ableton. Starling's various music projects have been published on nine record labels, including Philip Glass's Orange Mountain Music company. His music has been streamed and purchased over 150,000 times.

Starling holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Utah and a Master of Music Technology degree from Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis.

I am twice graduated: 1° in Composition of Music Electronic, live electronics and new technologies; //MAXmsp, M4L, Arduino and a little of C-Sound//
pursued in an Italian Conservatory of Music.
2° Audio-Engineering Advanced level at SAE Institute of London.
I spent most of my life in music as singer, composer and live electronics player.

I have used Ableton Live for over ten years. I use it for recording, producing, and live performance. There are many Ableton controllers that I am familiar with such as the Push, Push, APC40, and Launchpad. My education comes from a self taught practice, as well as having a Music Technology B.A. from Cal State San Bernardino.

I produced my newest EP on Ableton and am excited to share everything I've learned. I have read the entire manual, in addition to my own experimentation. I also have the added advantage of helping you understanding basic recording techniques, basic piano or music theory for electronic music, and composing & arranging.
