Classical Voice Lessons in Drexel Hill. Amazing Teachers.

As a Westminster student, I was exposed to a wide variety of classical music settings and pieces . Voice Performance students such as myself were expected to be able to sing a wide variety of art songs, sacred music literature and arias in English, Italian, German and Latin among other languages. We performed in various venues such as the Kimmel Center and Carnegie Hall and took numerous classes in proper classical diction and performance.

Growing as a musician and producer has been a remarkably fulfilling path and my passion for sharing that adventure is what drives my excitement for teaching. I hope to bring positive energy and insight to all my students’ lessons and help them grow. I am interested in working with students of all ages, and enjoy helping with everything — learning how to sing or improve vocal technique, learning how to play piano, cover favorite artists, perform, record, navigate ProTools of Logic or digital/analog synths. There are a number of reasons someone may wish to take music lessons. Whatever the specific reason, striving to achieve one’s “artistic truth” is the goal. My holistic view of education is to help a student find his/her own individual “voice” as a singer and a creative artist. I believe the role of an educator is not to relay information in a detached context, what I call teaching “at” a student, but to lead that student in a discussion of the music, pulling information from the student in a collaborative effort between two or more individuals. It is my goal to facilitate an emotionally safe environment for students to take risks, make mistakes, listen critically, and articulate his/her thoughts. We work towards freedom of expression and letting go of fear. Fear is the single greatest enemy of any artist: If you're afraid of how your music will go, you won't be making art.

Ms. S. has a Master's degree in Vocal Performance from Eastern Michigan University and has performed with regional opera companies. Singing is a complex coordination of breathing, phonation, resonation and articulation, overlaid with musical and performance layers. Classical singing also requires an acting component, as intent alters and influences the sound.

Gain a bright but legit sound and more vocal range. Will be asked to learn other genres along with classical songs to enhance voice (stamina/range) and musicality.
