Michelle has been teaching Singing for over 10 years and her students have gone on to study music performance, classical voice and musical theater at the college and university levels. Some of her students wish to improve their singing abilities purely for their own enjoyment and fulfillment. Others have had great success with variety of singing achievements including school performances, competitions, community theater as well as going on to professional level performance opportunities. Within the first few lessons, you'll begin to get to know your unique authentic voice, have a greater understanding of how to use it in healthy ways and how to better cultivate your personal singing goals. As time goes on you'll gain the confidence and skills necessary to support you on your unique musical journey. As a Westminster student, I was exposed to a wide variety of classical music settings and pieces . Voice Performance students such as myself were expected to be able to sing a wide variety of art songs, sacred music literature and arias in English, Italian, German and Latin among other languages. We performed in various venues such as the Kimmel Center and Carnegie Hall and took numerous classes in proper classical diction and performance.

The most important aspect of vocal training that I will emphasize is breath support. Connecting to the body when singing will ensure vocal protection and prevent unwanted vocal strain. I will also focus on gaining control through scales and breathing. I would like my students to gain consistency in their lessons each week by providing them with new challenges and helping them to gain new tools when practicing. Applying these fundamental elements of healthy singing into each student's repertoire is the ultimate goal in these lessons.

Drawing from his experience as an opera singer in venues throughout out the US, including the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and Carnegie Hall, I address proper posture, vowel placement, pronunciation and interpretation.

All ages are welcome. I am an experienced musician and educator with a B.M dual degree in Jazz Composition and Performance from Berklee College of Music, as well as a Master of Music Theory and Composition Degree in Scoring for Film and Multimedia from New York University.

I encourage learning with creativity and curiosity, which makes the lessons both fun and productive. I mainly teach voice, piano, music theory and composition lessons for all ages.

Besides these subjects, I also give lessons for ABRSM exam prep, college-bound musician prep, music theory placement exam, music history placement exam, ear training, arranging, orchestration, counterpoint, classical harmony, jazz harmony, Logic Pro, Sibelius and Pro Tools.

I am an opera and musical theatre performer with years of teaching experience. I offer voice lessons for all genres and abilities, beginning piano lessons, and acting coachings.

I am trained and have experience in opera, musical theatre, pop music, and other genres, and I am eager to teach students of all ages and abilities! I aim to facilitate a positive, enjoyable learning environment that is constructive and productive.

My students have performed in professional and community theatre productions, have won local competitions, and have been invited to national auditions. I have music directed several musicals and summer camps, including Annie and Captain Louie.

I have been providing caring coaching since 2001 for more than 150 students across 6 local school districts in the South and West Hills of Pittsburgh, plus from Bishop Canevin, OLSH and CAPA. I offer personalized private instruction in voice and music theory for ages 12 to adult, beginners to advanced. (Younger students may be considered after consultation with parents.)

I have a broad background, stretching from musical theater to opera to
contemporary Christian worship. I studied opera in college with Claudia Pinza.
However, currently I mostly utilize my gifts in a church with a contemporary music style. I have coached many young people in their development as worship leaders as well as worship vocalists.

Hi, I’m Julia, and welcome to my studio! I’m an experienced voice teacher currently working toward my Master’s degree in Vocal Pedagogy at New England Conservatory. I specialize in building a strong technical foundation for all styles in singers of any age - whether you want to sing in choir, audition for a musical, or train for college auditions in classical voice. My approach to teaching is grounded in scientific knowledge of how the voice works and my own experience as a performing artist, so in every lesson, you’ll have fun AND see results.
