Regardless of the type of music you want to eventually sing, every voice will benefit from studying classical technique and repertoire. I build on my education from studying classical voice at the Peabody Conservatory and performing in operas such as La Traviata and Aida. You will learn how to sing in various languages (Italian, French, German), increase vocal stamina and breathe support, extend your range, develop vibrato, and build confidence on stage.

About Natalie
Hi, everyone!

I'm so excited to be in Music City! I just moved to Nashville from New York City where I worked with Broadway performers and kids auditioning for some of the most competitive performance schools in the country. I'm confident I can help you achieve your music goals, whether they be learning to produce a powerful, resonate, healthy sound with your voice, becoming proficient in piano from everything from Bach to Billy Joel, or writing clear, catchy songs that will have a big impact on an audience.

Please check out my bio below and feel free to ask me any questions about lessons with the "Ask a Question" button.

Hope to be working with you very soon!

xoxo

Natalie was great with my 7 year old daughter. They worked together on warmups, and she gave her a song to practice during their off time. Natalie was pleasant, and a joy to work with! She is really great with kids.

This is my first experience with having singing lessons after many years of doing my own version of "Carpool Karaoke." Tania has been wonderful. She is very encouraging and makes it a safe singing environment for a novice. I have just signed up for 5 more lessons. (And her cats are very cute too.)

I've taken many lessons with Stephanie over the past 2 years, most of which via FaceTime or Skype which has always been successful, and convenient that neither of us has to travel.

Stephanie is patient beyond belief, but also incredibly driven and focused in her teaching technique. My range has expanded, my tone has become warmer, and I'm an all around better musician with her as my teacher. The way she approaches the voice is both confident and very professional, and I would happily recommend anybody to study with her; beginning, intermediate, or advanced. She is a gem!

Working towards an audition? Want to improve your technique?Together, we'll work to identify and achieve some tangible goals in a way that's fun and relevant to how you want to practice music in the world. I can help you learn to use your body as an instrument, and develop a high quality sound. If you struggle with confidence, we can work with and through emotional blocks to help you better connect with your voice and a sense of expression.

About Julie
GENERAL: I enjoy getting to know my students and their specific interests and quirks, and incorporating those into lessons to help folks better connect with and get excited about the material. I specialize in confidence-building and will be with you every step of the way as you not only gain skills, but perhaps face and overcome some emotional barriers or frustrations. I like to make lessons playful, fun, and relevant to how you want to use these tools in the world.

SINGING AND MUSIC LESSONS: In addition to providing technical training, I believe that singing is about liberation and expression, and have had successes in helping students to find their unique voices through overcoming vocal anxieties. I both work with students who are preparing for auditions and who play in professional bands, and also with students who have only ev
er sung in the shower and just want to get more comfortable using their own voice for fun. I also specialize in teaching music theory (including how to read music, rhythm practice, and harmony), playing an instrument and singing at the same time, and songwriting coaching. I degree in music from Brown University, have been a professional, performing musician for 12 years, and have been teaching private lessons and classes for 8 years.

For those in bands: I specialize in harmony and can do consultation sessions with you and/or your band to help with blending, finding harmonies that work for your respective vocal ranges and for the flow of the song, and teaching skills for finding and building harmonies.

MATH: As a middle and high school student, I didn't believe I was "good" at math. It wasn't until I was an adult and was hired as a math tutor - and later promoted to Assistant Director - of a tutoring company that I realized that was a belief that had held me back. Many kids and young adults struggle with confidence around math, and having had experience with that myself I use tools that help meet students where they're at and support them in building enthusiasm for math and confidence in themselves. In addition to providing tangible math skills (I have not only been tutoring Algebra, Geometry, SAT prep, elementary and middle school math for 5 years, but have also helped run a math tutoring company in which I built year-long curricula for grades K-12), I help students feel that math is within their grasp and can be approached with curiosity rather than fear and low self-esteem.

I had no idea when we signed up for SAT prep lessons with Julie, the level of help we would get. Julie went so far above and beyond what you would expect a tutor to do. During the lessons, she was always incredibly encouraging and focused. She explained things in a way that just made more sense. And then in between lessons, she sent problems like the ones we had trouble with to help solidify what was learned. She sent links to other sample problems and communicated regularly about the progress being made. I couldn’t rave enough about Julie!

About Derek
I am Professional Singer, Conductor, Music Teacher, and Church Musician. I have extensive experience with training choirs as well as solo performers both in and out of college.

Voice students can expect to improve week to week in their vocal technique. Every voice is different and needs to be treated with great care and attention. I will work with the students to expand their range and find what works best for THEIR voice. Every voice I have taught has dramatically improved with a few just weeks under my instruction. I can help anyone sing with confidence and grace.

including students with special needs in our school's cross-categorical classes. From song writing with my middle school students to basic piano skills to choir. I have donet it all in the music classroom.

As a conductor and performing musician I have had the blessing and opportunity to travel all over the world. Some of the highlights of my career have been a 5-week opera program in Siena, Italy. During this time we lived in apartments and were fully immersed in the Italian culture, we performed over 20 times during those 5 weeks. Other musical ventures include various Choir tours throughout the United States and Europe.

My personal passion is Classical and Broadway music but I firmly believe that great basic technique is essential to any and every style. I look forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better musician!

I have been a voice teacher for over twenty years, holding various academic positions across the country as well as maintaining a private studio. My teaching methodology promotes healthy singing and life-long technique grounded in a "Form-Follows-Function" approach that is highly effective and accessible to all ages and musical styles. In addition to vocal technique, instruction includes diction, song selection and interpretation, audition skills, and professional etiquette. Let me teach you or your children to love music while preparing for contest, school shows, theater, college, or just making music for fun.

About Alissa
I am a soprano with a penchant for French mélodie as well as the treasured compositions of Gershwin, Porter, Berlin, and Weill. Although my early roots were established in training programs such as Central City Opera and The Santa Fe Opera, over the course of my career I have found my greatest satisfaction in the intimacy of the recital venue. I recently released my CD Hier: Mélodies of Francis Poulenc which is available download on Apple Music and Spotify.

I have worked all over the country in higher education both in the private studio and in the classroom. I have built programs that focus on the needs and interests of students including musical theatre, jazz, and classical styles. In the private studio I find great joy leading students through their musical journey and I am mindful that the instruction I give during lessons facilitat
es life-long learning.

I am a believer that art is a reflection of ourselves and artists must continue to affect change by promoting music as a cultural force. Art cannot exist in a vacuum, and so our charge is to bring music to the communities, to the concert halls, to the stages, to the schools--in these places, we can bring people together in a common and transcending moment of art.
