Whether singing is your chosen career or just a treasured hobby, my goal is to help you succeed! I offer voice lessons to students of all backgrounds, ages and a variety of styles. I take a healthy, classical vocal approach to encourage freedom, ease and power in the voice. A student of Bel Canto, Alexander Technique and Yoga, I incorporate a full body approach to singing. My students range from amateurs to Broadway talent. I have prepared students to perform on stage, book agents, and to be featured in television and film. My younger students have gone on to programs such as the Professional Performing Arts School, the Interlochen Arts Academy and various conservatory and college programs. My professional students have performed at such venues as New York City Opera, Radio City, in Film and Television and on National Tours.
Lessons are tailored to each individual student but generally begin with a breathing and vocal warm-up, followed by some technical exercises and finishing ...

Praised by Opera News for her “pearly tone,” REBECCA BLINDER is a voice teacher and performer living and working in NYC. She has been teaching voice in New York for over a decade, trained at a variety of festivals and young artist programs, and earned a Master’s Degree (and Bachelor's Degree) in Voice Performance from The University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance.
Rebecca has taught a wide variety of performers — from professionals to talented children and teenagers. Her students have performed in Film, Television, on National tours, at Regional Theaters and Music Venues including New York City Opera, Radio City Mus
ic Hall and recently the Academy Awards. She also enjoys working with beginners and those who want to explore their vocal potential for their own enjoyment.
As a performer herself, Rebecca’s career as an Operatic Soprano as well as a performer of Musical Theatre, New Works and Spiritual Music has taken her all over the United States, Europe and the Middle East. Favorite credits include Rosalinda (Die Fledermaus), Nedda (I Pagliacci), Micaëla (La Tragedie de Carmen) and a world premiere reading of Billy Blythe, a folk opera about the early years of Bill Clinton.
Rebecca’s knowledge of the music business, experience as a performer, and technical, supportive teaching method make her a sought-after voice teacher for students of all levels, backgrounds and vocal styles.
"My TEACHING PHILOSOPHY leads me to work with each student individually to help them find a tailored technique that works for them. No two voices are exactly alike, therefore I believe that there is not one rigid method that works for everyone. My ultimate goal is to help my students find their own unique sound, free of tension and full of confidence. Every student who comes to me started singing for a reason — because it felt good. And it should always feel good, restorative, and empowering!
In lessons I aim to keep this positive energy at the forefront and focus on making singing easier. My students and I work together to eliminate unnecessary effort and complications — those things that take away from the enjoyment that comes from singing. I take a healthy, classical vocal approach to encourage freedom, ease and power in the voice. As a student of such methods as Bel Canto, Alexander Technique and Yoga, I incorporate a full body approach to singing. I also encourage my students to find ways of improving their voices and the use of their bodies in all aspects of their lives, both in and outside the studio. In today’s busy world (and especially here in New York City) maximizing time, while learning to take a beat and focus, is a huge part of vocal technique. The voice reflects what is going on in the mind and body. In addition to their vocal work, I encourage all my students to spend time doing things that keep them happy and feeling good. Yoga, running, dancing, attending that concert or play — these activities help keep us in balance.
In my work with children and teenagers, I take special care to nurture their developing voices, encourage strong practice habits and sing with joy every day. Depending on their level of skill and their individual goals, we incorporate musicianship and music theory into technical work so that each student has the practical skills to pursue music in their life however they choose.
Whether it is nailing that next key audition or speaking with more confidence at your next big board meeting, I look forward to working with you to give you the tools, training and support to succeed!
Rebecca was very warm and friendly which helped my teenager feel comfortable and confident. She focused on technique. My daughter felt she learned a lot and is looking forward to her next lesson.

Rebecca is a wonderful vocal teacher with an incredibly warm personality that puts me at ease at encourages me to enjoy the practice of singing. During lessons, she explains each exercise very clearly and always knows the right advice to give when I am having trouble grasping a concept. She always inspires me to work hard to reach my own goals and her dedication to our lessons together has already led to amazing leaps in progress in my voice. I noticed in my first lesson Tamera was throughly prepared with all the foundational info that I would need to be able to stand before walking. She was also mindful to allow me to sing as I normally would so she could correct my errors and therefore help me achieve my best potential

Nicole is a smart welcoming teacher with lots of patience when practicing with your voice. She gives great critique when needed but is still able to offer solutions to problems you might be experiencing with your voice. She has a positive attitude all around with no room for negativity. It's all about being comfortable in exploring your voice with no judgement. Great teacher all around !

Nicole is a wonderful teacher, and always made me feel comfortable to work through my weaknesses and helped to mold them into strengths.

Nicole is an excellent teacher who brings great knowledge and enthusiasm to every lesson. I always look forward to working with her!
I've been a classical singer for 30 years and have sung leading roles with the Caramoor Music Festival, Glimmerglass Opera and the Orchestra of St. Luke's, among many others. Even more important than my experience, however, is my sensitive and expert touch with students of all ages and personality types. The fundamentals of vocal technique underlie all my teaching, but the individual touch and approach is tailored to each student, whatever his or her age or experience.
I believe in the extraordinary power of music to communicate, to inspire and, often, to heal. That belief inspires all my work.
My goal is to help you find the power to express express through singing your unique self. It doesn't matter whether your voice is professional quality or whether it's even "good" in the conventional sense. It's YOUR voice. It has its own sound and characteristics, its own particular beauty, and the world needs to hear you!
Whether you want to be a professional or audition for your school musical, NYSSMA, All-State chorus, college and conservatory, or whether you just want to have fun and hit those high notes in the shower, I would love to help you.
I'm a classically trained leading soprano who has had the great good fortune to sing masterpieces with such companies as the Caramoor Music Festival, Glim
merglass Opera and the Aspen Music Festival. I also have undergraduate and master's degrees from Brown University and the Manhattan School of Music.
But don't let the fact that I'm an "opera singer" give you the wrong idea. Yes, strict classical training gives me in-depth understanding of how the human voice works, but I love and teach music of all genres. My students include professional opera singers, yes, but also rock and Broadway-style singers, college and conservatory students, teenagers singing in their school musicals, doing All-State chorus, or preparing for NYSSMA, as well as adults who are taking voice for the love of singing, the fun of the challenge and so they can join their local chorus or sound great on karaoke night.
Above all, the most important qualities I offer as a teacher are the simple human ones: understanding, patience, imagination, kindness, enthusiasm, respectfulness and absolute commitment to helping you meet your vocal goals.
*** Lesson Details ***
I tailor my lessons to each singer's particular interests, goals and challenges. Some students thrive with a highly technical approach; some thrive in a less formal, more supportive environment; most singers do best with an approach that mixes the two. The important thing to know is that you will receive lessons that are specifically tailored to you. There's no single template.
*** Specialties ***
For advanced classical singers I have a great depth of experience and wide knowledge of oratorio, opera, German lied and French, English and American art songs. I also have a specialized background in "performance practice" baroque and classical vocal ornamentation.
I am not a singer, but Nancy was able to make me feel at ease and give me instructions to bring a voice out of me. Very personable and professional, she has many different ideas and exercises to allow a voice to develop. I had one other voice teacher who never even had me learn a song. Nancy is a very capable and valuable teacher. I really can’t recommend her enough!

I love Nancy. I have never sung in front of anyone solo and was/am nervous. Nancy makes me feels at ease. She's amazing!
September 28, 2018
Nancy is great to work with. She really engages our daughter. Our 10 year old is always happy after her lesson. Nancy also is a clear communicator both with parents and our daughter, so we always know what is going on, and how things are working.
In my Voice lessons I use a combination of excersises and pieces. Student will be expected to practice from the Vaccai vocal studies book as well as learn classical songs in English, Italian, and German. If there is any musical theater pieces that a student is interested in or must learn for a theater class, we can of course learn those as well. In addition to this I also teach Solfege sight-singing (Do, Re, Mi etc) which is an amazing tool for ear training as well as voice training.
Kathleen Little, after playing the flute and piano on her own for seven years, began her classical education at the age of sixteen with international soloist Jun Kubo. While at TCNJ, Kathleen performed her own programs in Mayo Concert Hall, featuring soloistic works by composers such as Nielsen, Hoover, and Takemitsu, and was complimented for her stage presence and musicality. She also had the pleasure of performing with the TCNJ Opera, Chamber, and Symphony Orchestras. She went on to perform with the NYU Symphony Orchestra and participate in the NYU Chamber Music program where she has played with a Trio, Quintet, Sextet, and flute ens

I have been studying Broadway singers for years. I have been a Musical Theatre performer for years and I am still studying singing, acting and dancing. I am still young and know what it feels to want to better yourself everyday, so I can relate to most learning students. I put a lot of importance to vocal training, technique and warm-ups.
Lehman College, Bachelors of Fine Arts, Graduate! I am a Musical Theatre Performer. I perform all the time and believe that warm-ups are a big importance when it comes to performing. Technique is something I have been studying for a while, and I am consistently learning what new techniques work for myself too. I teach singing, acting and other subjects too, check them out!
Singing is a beautiful art form that can be accessed by everyone. When taking lessons with me, we will be able to explore all of the beautiful intricacies of the voice and how it can be used to be the most expressive instrument.
With the knowledge that my degrees in voice granted me, I will be able to guide you in a safe yet encouraging manner that will lead you to success in whatever genre you aspire to perform.
I am a professional singer, pianist, and teacher of the two. I have a Bachelor of Music degree from California State University Long Beach, and a Master of Music degree from University of California Los Angeles. During my study of those two degrees, I had marvelous teaching from some of the finest pianists, coaches, and voice teachers around. I can teach you how to sing with true passion, ease, and intent.
I began my study of the piano at the age of 7, my mother being my first teacher. I started on Alfred Piano Books, and still strongly believe in that same curriculum. From there I began to study classical composers like Chopin, Beethoven, Clementi, and Mozart. Although my love of classical music runs deep to my core, I love jazz, pop, and gospel music. I am happy to assist the learning of any style, anything that YOU are passionate for
With me, you can expect to make weekly progress in your instrument of choice. I am a dedicated performer and an even more dedicated teacher. To me, the two go hand in hand.
Please allow me the opportunity in teaching you and in turn I will give you all the knowledge I possess.
I can’t recommend Lyle highly enough. He is an amazing teacher for my 14 year old son who is prepping for school play auditions. He helped choose material and has many technical suggestions to sing better without being intimidating. He also is patient, warm and encouraging. Very pleased we found him.

Lyle has a singing voice that will stun and amaze you when he sings in front of you. That will immediately put you at ease and motivate you to sing better using his techniques. His classical training has proven to be a great foundation for teaching me effective ways to understand, use and improve my voice. After 2 lessons I can already see a big difference in my singing abilities and I always learn many new things at each lesson. Lyle has a really open, friendly and non judgemental demeanor and this helped a lot with my nervousness. I can't wait for my next private lesson and would encourage anyone to book him for Broadway, classical and pop singing lessons.
August 1, 2017
Lyle taught my two kids for 3 years. They loved him! My son took piano and voice lessons each week, 30mins of the two, and my daughter took only piano lessons. I can't recommend him enough!
Singing is so much more than just singing! In my studio, you will unleash your unique voice by letting go of unnecessary habits and setting up your body to produce a variety of healthy sounds. In addition to the vocal part of singing, we will work on diction, music theory, stage presence, and learning how to practice on your own. Whatever your goal may be, we will work together to find the best techniques that work for you.
About Sara Lin
I'm a classically trained opera singer with a passion for performing and teaching! I hold a Master's degree in Voice Performance from U. of Colorado at Boulder and a Bachelor's degree from U. of Minnesota - Twin Cities.
Originally from Oskaloosa, IA, I grew up practicing 4 different instruments and singing in children's choir. Music has taught me an infinite amount of life skills and I love to pass those lessons on to my students!
In my studio, you will learn to unleash your unique voice by using your body most efficiently and eliminating unnecessary habits. Lessons also include work on diction, music theory, stage presence, and learning how to practice on your own.
"Extremely perceptive, sophisticated and talented teacher. Great with people and very respectful."
"As a former master's student at The Eastman School of Music and a lifelong musician, I've yet to encounter a voice teacher as perceptive, honest, patient,
and encouraging as Mr. Tompkins. One of the best pedagogues and technicians I've encountered, his repertoire knowlege and ability to discern what is hindering a singer's progress is quite remarkable. Within an hour of working with him, he was able to fine tune and efficiently improve what was impeding my progress. That 60 minute session was more productive than in an entire semester at conservatory. A world class singer, Mr. Tompkins is as accomplished a voice teacher as he is a performer. Highly recommended."
"Melissa is not only a gifted voice teacher, but an amazing singer herself. She is also very personable and reliable. I can always count on her to help me
in a pinch, before an audition to help me with a particular song, or even help me pick out a song that is appropriate for the show for which I am auditioning. She has a large breadth of musical knowledge and experience, which makes me feel confident, and trust the notes she gives during the lesson. Melissa's techniques with breathing and execution the best I have ever received, as a trained actor myself. Although she is extremely professional, Melissa also finds ways in making the lesson fun. I highly recommend her for both kids and adults and hope you get as much out of her classes as I have!"
"Daniel is a great singing instructor, with a broad knowledge of singing styles ranging from Opera to pop. It's very apparent he knows his craft and he is
able to break it down to its basic parts for the beginning student."
"Arlys is extremely fun and easy to work with and has great teaching techniques! She also provides resources to be used outside of individual lessons which
are really helpful to reference after the sessions are over. I had a great experience with this teacher and highly recommend her!"
"I had a great first lesson! Nice to meet you Merav!!"
"Francesca is a terrific vocal coach. She really knows music theory and the mechanics of singing. She has been a tremendous source of knowledge and has p
rovided numerous tips and resources to help improve my singing technique. She is also very friendly and easy to work with. I really enjoy my sessions with her and always feel like I walk away with a deeper understanding of voice."
"Nicholas is an amazing singer and a great teacher! He is very professional, came before time, and went over time. My daughter and our entire family really
liked him. He also teaches a colleague's daughter who spoke highly of Nicholas. All in all, a great experience!"
"Sarabeth really knows her stuff. Down to the specific mechanics of the voice, she was able to provide vocal exercises to help me reach my goals. Now I can
properly work on extending my range on my own time.
She also helped me identify some problems with my breathing that I wasn't even aware of. Not only does she know a lot about classical voice technique, but she knows how to apply those principles to the male voice.
