Recording vocals for vocalists, getting the right sound, preproduction
I love to sing (yay!) and am a professional singer/songwriter and a vocal coach & have been for many years. Named a top vocal coach in Backstage Magazine, I have coached beginners to pros, children to adult, whether they want to perform, record, just enjoy/fun or eventually pursue a serious singing career. My students have gone on to tour, get signed, do musical theatre (amateur & professional) or just enjoying singing freely with a great technique. I am considered encouraging and warm (see my reviews), but also know what it is to be at a level where you consistently sound great! This is my focus and is very encouraging to students. They will see themselves making progress and reaching set goals! I am an expert in pop technique (no opera or classical, sorry!), and work with students to preserve and take care of the voice. In lessons, we w
ill also have fun learning popular songs (from current hits to classic pop & rock) and look for opportunities to sing them. From pop to rock to R&B to country & more, students can explore their faves! Whether you or your child is a beginner, just-for-fun singer or singer/songwriter to pro, each student will be able to learn the skills they need to sing from their heart, find their own true voice and for serious singers, take it to the next level.

Children Voice lessons build confidence and enthusiasm, and help prepare children for performing in front of others. Singing at a young age develops vocal abilities, but more importantly develops a child's aural abilities (recognizing melodies, harmonies, etc.) as well as the ability to focus, take direction and be creative.
Performing / Recording / Vocal Health Recording, performing and touring presents unique challenges to singers. By concentrating on breathing, vocal tone, vocal production and tension reduction, warm-up exercises, and range building exercises, these lessons help increase stamina, build vocal tone, and reduce the effects of vocal fatigue for those who sing long hours at a time.
Church / Worship Leading Singing on praise/worship teams is an art form all of it's own. Lessons centered around this kind of singing focus on the areas of blending, tone, hearing harmonies, and keeping your part in a group. For the soloist / worship leader, lessons help in the areas of projection, tone, range, runs, and breathing.

I teach tips, tricks and basics for music productions ☺️ I use Reaper and Pro Tools to create, record and provide music. I teach the basics of using busses properly, mixing and mastering
I started learning piano by the age of 4. Started composition by the age of 5. At the age of 12, I started guitar and never turned back. Music was always the ULTIMATE escape. To me there's nothing that compares to the feeling I get after completing a song, or the rush of a good performance. I decided that I'd rather do nothing else in life but music. After high school I went to the famed Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA., where I was taught by the most amazing musicians I've ever known. Some of the teachers who influenced me were Dan Gilbert from the Guitar World magazine, and David Oakes who trained with Andre Segovia (famed classical guitarist). After that, I continued with my Bachelors in Music at ENMU. My influences are a wide range. I love any music with shred guitar. Anything virtuosic is what I love. I enjoy playing everything
from Latin, classical, blues, all the way to heavy metal. I have a lot of on stage experience that has served me well, and my mission is to give back the inspiration that has been my love for music.
*** Lesson Details *** The most important thing with any instrument is that you're enjoying what your doing. If you're not having fun with guitar, then you're probably not going to stick with it. I teach beginning to advanced guitar and my students really enjoy the lesson plans. My lessons vary from student to student depending on what they want to accomplish, and what they need to succeed. After the student reaches a certain level I get them to play with other musicians. Sometimes I'll bring in my drummer and hop on the bass so the student can get the feel of playing with a full band! I expect a lot from students and they seem to have no problem delivering,
*** Studio Equipment *** Home studio- includes amps, guitars and recording equipment. Custom built computer designed for studio use. Pre-sonus Firepods. Focusrite Sapphire pro 26. Ton's of pedals. Pro Tools 10 Professional
*** Travel Equipment *** I have backup amps and guitars just in case. I bring all the materials for the lesson plans to the student's home.
*** Specialties *** classical, rumba, metal, classic rock, hard rock, shred, Brazilian, fusion, blues, and most Latin styles.
Brandon is a great teacher and I definitely recommend! He's tailored the lessons right away to my music interests and skill level while still taking time to focus on the techniques I need to learn for bass. I've had a few lessons online and have already learned way more in these few weeks than I would ever have learned on my own. The online format works great for my schedule.

Brandon is a great teacher. I had my first lesson with him yesterday and he can play and takes the time to show you exactly what you are doing. I was skeptical of an online lesson with a teacher but it was a blast and in my first lesson I learned a lot of valuable things that I can put in my toolbox. I look forward to learning and to keep taking lessons. Oh and practicing! Highly recommend Brandon.

My first lesson with Brandon was a really instructional and inspiring interaction. Brandon listened to my goals and inspired me to become disciplined in practicing every day. His future classes and goals for me where explained after the first class. Both he and I have an understanding of where I want to be in the future and I know he will do everything he can to help me achieve my goals. Thanks Brandon!

I was born and raised in Los Angeles but I've just recently relocated to the Bay Area. I am a Professional Musician/Songwriter/Vocalist teaching songwriting, voice, and performance technique as well as a combination thereof. I began singing at a very young age for anyone who would listen (so my parents tell me) and began taking music lessons shortly thereafter. I am now a USC graduate and have also studied music privately for over 25 years as well as at the esteemed Vocal Power Institute. I've professionally released several albums and I am grateful to have had my music featured/licensed by Starbucks, NBC, The CW network, NikeWomen.com, and MTV. I've toured extensively playing to audiences across the country and have had the honor of sharing the stage with artists ranging from Conor Oberst, Inara George, Johnette Napolitano, Martha Wain

In addition to teaching privately, I have experience teaching children through my volunteer work with The Girls Rock Alliance, a non-profit organization that aims to teach young girls about self-confidence and self-expression through music education.

The curriculum I utilize is specifically designed to meet the student's individual needs. Initially we'll spend time assessing where you are and where you'd like to be. Most importantly, we'll set goals and create a lesson plan that will allow you to attain them. We'll work on basic techniques (or intermediate to advanced depending on skill level), for example - breath support, vowel placement, posture, relaxation, the fundamentals of song structure and music theory. We'll also work on the psychology of performance and eliminating any unwanted tension that may arise. We'll choose songs to work on that you'll enjoy singing, or analyze the songs you love in order to discover and/or improve upon your own songwriting abilities.

No matter what your goals are, she can help. Rachel teaches her students how to become true artists without tearing them down and without taking away the part of them that makes them unique. She teaches healthy technique that is based off of the human anatomy; the science of how the body/mind works and how the body/mind can work as efficiently as possible while singing or acting.
Learning how to sing/act is a process and doesn't happen overnight. Rachel's ultimate goal as a teacher is to not only make her students the best performers and singers they can be, but also give them all of the proper tools they need to have a more productive mind frame and become self-sufficient. Of course this can take years to master. It takes time and dedication.
OTHER LESSON INFORMATION
SINGING: Bel Canto singing technique for the modern singer is taught in private and group classes. No one sounds like old opera singers, even if the student wants to sing opera. Students are allowed to choose most of the material they learn in the lesson. There will be times when Rachel will suggest a song to a student but if the student doesn't enjoy the song, they will work as a team to find a song that does work for the student. Gain a better tone quality, complete control of your voice, bigger range, more flexibility, and confidence. Learn healthy voice technique, how to fully take care of your own voice so you can sing for the rest of your life (even after lessons), and become a self sufficient performer for life.
ACTING: Stella Adler, Stanislavsky, Chekhov, and Meisner Acting Technique for Theatre/Camera is taught in private and group classes. All students are exposed to each technique and Rachel sees which technique each student responds to the most. Once the student and Rachel are able to identify the technique, Rachel continues to use the terminology of that technique for the remainder of the time the student is in lessons. Students eventually are able to play roles truthfully and realistically, even if the roles are opposite of the student's own personality.
BY THE TIME STUDENTS GRADUATE FROM LESSONS:
1. Gain a lifelong, solid, consistent, and healthy technique that they can always count on in practice and performance.
2. Gain specific technical and personal notes in a notebook and/or computer file that is organized and always accessible for review.
3. Gain artistry, performance skills, and a strong voice that will look/sound authentic; Singers will sound appropriate to whatever style of music they are singing. (No fake sound or look.) Actors will just be in the moment and truthful whether they are on stage or in front of the camera.
4. Gain the confidence to always put on a great performance.
5. Gain focus and a more productive mind frame.
6. Become self-sufficient by knowing how to assess a problem and then fix it without creating a new issue.
*** Studio Equipment *** PRIVATE HOME STUDIO: Keyboard, speakers (smartphone, iPod, iPad), CD player, tape recorder/player, digital recorder, music stand, mirror, laptop, sheet music selections, HD video camera, tripod, video editing software, audio editing software, USB microphone, and high speed WiFi internet. CANCELLATION: 48 hour lesson cancellation policy and emergencies (determined by Rachel) are handled on a case by case basis. All students (or their parents/guardian if under 18) who have scheduled vacations and other activities (meetings, parties, school shows, concerts, rehearsals...etc) that interfere with the student’s regularly scheduled lesson time, need to contact Rachel as soon as the vacation/other activity is scheduled but no later than two weeks in advanced before their missed regularly scheduled lesson to prevent from forfeiting the lesson.
MAKE-UPS: Make-Up lessons will be scheduled if time allows. No Make-Up lesson or class will be given to ‘no shows’ or “late cancellation”, and no extra time to extend their lesson will be given to students who are late to their lesson or class. If there is ever a time Rachel is running late, extra time will be given to make the lesson a full 60 minutes. If Rachel needs to reschedule, a Make-Up lesson will be scheduled as close to the same week as possible. Make-Up lessons are scheduled at Rachel’s discretion.
ONLINE LESSONS FOR IN-PERSON LESSON CLIENTS: In the event that the student is sick but still would like their lesson, an online lesson will be scheduled instead. Students can NOT come to their in person lesson sick, coughing, sneezing, with a runny nose, cold, flu, allergies, fever, etc. (This is to make sure no germs will be spread).
An online lesson will also be scheduled if there is bad weather, if a student is having car trouble, or any other reason for the student not being able to physically get to Rachel’s private studio during their normally scheduled lesson time. Online lessons are conducted through Classroom, FaceTime, Google, Hangouts, or Skype.
SCHEDULE: Lessons are weekly, on the same time/day of the week unless we have rescheduled or we have discussed in writing another lesson plan. If the student’s lesson falls on a holiday, we will either reschedule or if no other day is available, resume the following week.
LATENESS: If a student is going to be late they need to contact Rachel as soon as possible, to let her know they will be late. Lessons will end on time unless she is able to extend the lesson due to a late student or her schedule allows for it though please understand, Rachel would be extending a courtesy and would not be obligated to do so. If on the rare occasion Rachel is running late, she will always make up the time.
SITTING IN: Parents/Guardians are ONLY permitted to stay for the first lesson and are NOT permitted to sit in for any other lesson/class unless invited. This is to promote good/strong teacher-student relationship quickly and easily. Also, many times students feel more comfortable when their parents/guardians leave. Of course there will be times when the parent will be invited back in at the end of some of the lesson to showcase progress.
COMMUNICATION: Due to Rachel's normally scheduling students one right after another without breaks, being in the recording studio, performing, or being on set, the best way to contact her is through text AND email. Please ALWAYS leave messages when calling Rachel with your name, contact info, AND the reason you are calling. Please be specific. Thank you!
"I try to be as fair as possible to both parties when it comes to cancellations, rescheduling, lateness, and make ups. Have a concern or question? Just talk with me. I'm all about communication!" - Rachel
Racheal did a wonderful job helping my daughter with her stage presence.
January 29, 2018
My 9 yr. old daughter received singing lessons with Rachel. Rachel was SO wonderful, patient, and creative with every session with her. She was constantly coming up with different ways to keep her engaged and was always reassuring her to increase her confidence. She gave great constructive feedback on how my daughter was doing and what she can work on to improve. I give her 5 stars! Thanks so much, Rachel!
October 3, 2017
Overall, very impressed. She is direct and doesn't tell you something you want to hear. Her evaluation process is well rounded and planned. She puts together a great curriculum to know what to expect in the coming lessons. Very easy going person and makes you feel completely comfortable at the initial lessons.
"We can't say enough good things about Randy. Professional, knowledgeable, talented, caring (insert 'extremely' before each adjective) and truly loves wha
t he does. Every session is enjoyable and we're amazed with his abilities on a regular basis. He makes learning fun and never rushes - truly the best!"
"Not only was I surprised at the skill level and experience Danny had as an instrumentalist and engineer, he was also able to impart his knowledge in an ac
cessible way that I could understand and actually learn! I loved going through the recording process with danny and coming out with a great result!"
"Colin is extremely patient and knowledgable. I went into it not really knowing how to record vocals. He only made me feel confident in my abilities and sh
owed me the way without being condescending, and also being super helpful throughout. He explained so many of the processes and aspects of the software and his confidence in me helped me perform better than expected! Super smart guy, he really knows his stuff."
"Wonderful teacher. Made everything simple and clear."
"Jason is hands down the best producer I've ever worked with. He spent countless hours helping me perfect my record and showing me how to achieve certain s
ounds that I couldn't have otherwise done on my own. He's respectful, patient, understanding, and most importantly super talented at what he does. Anyone would be lucky to learn from him, I know I was!"
"I've been blessed to lead & play in bands with Jordan for several years now, at the Cornerstone at UTA college ministry and his current church, and also i
n-studio on an independent recording project. He is one of the most consistently cheerful & competent men I have ever known, works hard, always on time, flexible and a humble life-long learner. I recommend Jordan to everyone who needs a teacher in the north part of DFW, he's much fun and very good at everything he does!"
"I really enjoy learning from Russ. He is good at relating things back to a way I can understand and improve. He is so versatile in his music knowledge tha
t I can litterally throw anything his way that I'm curious about and he points me in the right direction. I've taken guitar, bass, vocal, and even production lessons from Russ. By far the most value I have ever got from an instructor. At first I was a little hesitant because of the higher price than others, but when you start noticing that you are learning stuff other teachers had no idea about, it makes sense to pay a little more for the quality you get out of his lessons. Thanks Russ for all the lessons over the last few years! Wouldn't be where I am today without ya!"
As a student/client of over 15 years, I have experienced the instructor to always be exceptional. He listens to his clients/students
and works to ensure that their needs are being met and that they are satisfied with the services they receive. Distance isn't a barrier and never has been one! Kenneth has been able to accommodate my recording and instructional needs while I've traveled all over the country! Having a dependable instructor/service provider has been the key to our long standing business relationship and I would recommend Kenneth to anyone needing the awesome services his company provides."
"Eric knows how to get the best performance from an artist. I look forward to doing more projects with him."
