Jessica is a virtuoso on the ukulele. She has the patience of a saint with less than adept students. Yet she is insistent, in a gentle way, about instilling correct form in her students' approach to the uke. In addition, she is a walking encyclopedia of songs that span the range from traditional to standards to current day favorites, and from country to r&B to rock and roll.

Dr. Vince is a musician, guitarist, songwriter, vocalist, and a producer. Vince has three cds out with one in Germany. Dr. Vince has two master degrees one in music and in education with a PhD in Music Vince was produced by" Badfingers" Joey Molland, which was the Beatles first band signed to Apple Records. My band VitalpointRocks was also recorded by Ron Thal aka Bumblefoot and is now playing guitar for Guns and Roses I also performed with the Del Vikings, Ben E. Percussionist and composer Marc W. was born in Switzerland, where he studied classical percussion at the Geneva Conservatory. He has lived in the United States since the 1980's, where he studied composition and mallet technique on the vibraphone at the Berklee School in Boston, then moved to New York City to further his jazz performance and percussion skills. Since that time, Marc has toured the U.S., Europe, Japan and Brazil, and can be heard on over 20 recordings, including 4 solo albums. Marc's interest in electronics led him to push the boundaries of live performance with the "electronic vibraphone", where he is recognized as a pioneer on this instrument. Marc is extremely patient and passionate about his teaching. Not only does he emphasize the basic techniques for a beginner like me to master, but also make it fun for me. He also tries to motivate me with music theory and history which definitely help me understand the music better and inspire me to master the basics. Marc has an amazingly amount of knowledge in everything else as well, such as physics etc. that shows up in his teaching from time to time, which makes the learning experience much richer!

Marc is an incredibly friendly drum coach who also knows when to push his students to their limits. He has the rare ability to inspire his students so that they perform to the best of their abilities. Marc is a great teacher. Classes are always very friendly and productive. In my case, each class begins with a review of progress/practice, and ends with a meaningful and personalized homework. He is also very flexible, sometimes I had to move my classes around and he's always super responsive and understanding. I knew nothing about drums, and I am happy I decided to begin my journey to learn how to play them, with Marc as a mentor!

I also studied guitar privately with Shrapnel/Tone Center recording artist Greg Howe, Lasers Edge recording artist Scott McGill and Jazz icons Pat Martino (Blue Note) and Jimmy Bruno (Mel Bay).
I earned a Masters of Arts degree in music composition at Rutgers University, studying with world renowned, Pulitzer Prize winning composer Charles Wuorinen. In my first year, he was awarded a Teaching Assistantship in Music Composition and Theory.

I was the Music Director and conductor for the Mondfleck Orchestra, Music Director and Composer-In-Residence for the Trash Can Society Theater Company and composer for improv theater group, The Glass Metropolis Project.
I released my critically acclaimed debut CD, a collection of virtuosic instrumental guitar music and have been interviewed and featured in many publications and websites worldwide, including Guitar Player, Guitar World, 20th Century Guitar, Guitar Chef (Italy), Guitar Mania (Canada), among many others. I was selected as a Top 5 Finalist in the 2006 North American Rock Guitar Competition, presented by Guitar Player magazine and Gibson guitars and was inducted as a new member into the 2007 Independent Artist Registry.
I was selected to be a part of the June in Buffalo Festival for Emerging Composers in Buffalo, New York, where celebrated pianist Marilyn Nonken performed my solo piano piece, Aerial Surveying. I was commissioned to compose, conduct and perform the music for Sirens, a modern dance presentation in collaboration with celebrated choreographer Julia Ritter. I was also commissioned to write a modern composition for Renaissance lute titled A Mosaic of Cement and Barbed Wire, performed at the Sarah Lawrence Summer Guitar Institute. My piece, Like Giants Through a Keyhole, trio for flute, cello and piano performed as part of the Network for New Music's Cross-Currents in Jazz and New Music: The Schooling and School of Stefan Wolpe series. My orchestra composition, Ideological Explosions of the Absurd Hero, was performed in Milan, Italy.
My music has been featured throughout film and television. I have composed the scores for many feature films, television, web and ad campaigns, and my music has been featured on MTV, VH1, NBC, CBS, ABC, Discovery, History Channel, PBS, etc.
I was a featured speaker at the Music for My Web Series Panel as part of the BlogWorld & New Media Expo held at the Javits Center in NYC on June 7, 2012.

OTHER LESSON INFORMATION
SINGING: Bel Canto singing technique for the modern singer is taught in private and group classes. No one sounds like old opera singers, even if the student wants to sing opera. Students are allowed to choose most of the material they learn in the lesson. There will be times when Rachel will suggest a song to a student but if the student doesn't enjoy the song, they will work as a team to find a song that does work for the student. Gain a better tone quality, complete control of your voice, bigger range, more flexibility, and confidence. Learn healthy voice technique, how to fully take care of your own voice so you can sing for the rest of your life (even after lessons), and become a self sufficient performer for life.
ACTING: Stella Adler, Stanislavsky, Chekhov, and Meisner Acting Technique for Theatre/Camera is taught in private and group classes. All students are exposed to each technique and Rachel sees which technique each student responds to the most. Once the student and Rachel are able to identify the technique, Rachel continues to use the terminology of that technique for the remainder of the time the student is in lessons. Students eventually are able to play roles truthfully and realistically, even if the roles are opposite of the student's own personality.

*** Specialties *** We specialize in Bel Canto voice technique for the modern singer. Each student can sing all genres without sounding too classical, "fake", and without losing their voice while singing for long periods of time.
Other Specialties: Teaching acting technique for theatre-TV-Film (Stella Adler, Stanislavsky, Chekhov, & Meisner), performance skills, songwriting, and creating self-sufficient singers-actors-performers (Artist Development).
CANCELLATION: 48 hour lesson cancellation policy and emergencies (determined by Rachel) are handled on a case by case basis. All students (or their parents/guardian if under 18) who have scheduled vacations and other activities (meetings, parties, school shows, concerts, rehearsals...etc) that interfere with the student’s regularly scheduled lesson time, need to contact Rachel as soon as the vacation/other activity is scheduled but no later than two weeks in advanced before their missed regularly scheduled lesson to prevent from forfeiting the lesson.
MAKE-UPS: Make-Up lessons will be scheduled if time allows. No Make-Up lesson or class will be given to ‘no shows’ or “late cancellation”, and no extra time to extend their lesson will be given to students who are late to their lesson or class. If there is ever a time Rachel is running late, extra time will be given to make the lesson a full 60 minutes. If Rachel needs to reschedule, a Make-Up lesson will be scheduled as close to the same week as possible. Make-Up lessons are scheduled at Rachel’s discretion.
ONLINE LESSONS FOR IN-PERSON LESSON CLIENTS: In the event that the student is sick but still would like their lesson, an online lesson will be scheduled instead. Students can NOT come to their in person lesson sick, coughing, sneezing, with a runny nose, cold, flu, allergies, fever, etc. (This is to make sure no germs will be spread).
An online lesson will also be scheduled if there is bad weather, if a student is having car trouble, or any other reason for the student not being able to physically get to Rachel’s private studio during their normally scheduled lesson time. Online lessons are conducted through Classroom, FaceTime, Google, Hangouts, or Skype.
SCHEDULE: Lessons are weekly, on the same time/day of the week unless we have rescheduled or we have discussed in writing another lesson plan. If the student’s lesson falls on a holiday, we will either reschedule or if no other day is available, resume the following week.
LATENESS: If a student is going to be late they need to contact Rachel as soon as possible, to let her know they will be late. Lessons will end on time unless she is able to extend the lesson due to a late student or her schedule allows for it though please understand, Rachel would be extending a courtesy and would not be obligated to do so. If on the rare occasion Rachel is running late, she will always make up the time.
SITTING IN: Parents/Guardians are ONLY permitted to stay for the first lesson and are NOT permitted to sit in for any other lesson/class unless invited. This is to promote good/strong teacher-student relationship quickly and easily. Also, many times students feel more comfortable when their parents/guardians leave. Of course there will be times when the parent will be invited back in at the end of some of the lesson to showcase progress.
COMMUNICATION: Due to Rachel's normally scheduling students one right after another without breaks, being in the recording studio, performing, or being on set, the best way to contact her is through text AND email. Please ALWAYS leave messages when calling Rachel with your name, contact info, AND the reason you are calling. Please be specific. Thank you!

Overall, very impressed. She is direct and doesn't tell you something you want to hear. Her evaluation process is well rounded and planned. She puts together a great curriculum to know what to expect in the coming lessons. Very easy going person and makes you feel completely comfortable at the initial lessons.

I operate in the music arena as a touring musician; a Music Director for musicals, jazz ensembles and choirs; a composer & songwriter; a band teacher at my local elementary school, a private instructor and a producer with a degree in Jazz Composition and Professional Music from Berklee College of Music. I am currently performing and writing with Divinity Roxx (Beyonce, Victor Wooten, etc.), Elle Winston, Kate Vargas and others. Most of my writing and creating is done here in my private studio. I am proud to have produced tracks featured by the likes of Elton John on his Beats 1 Radio (Apple Music) station. That is to say, I'm really proud of the artists and having such an inspired space.

Since arriving to New York, Emi has studied with instrumentalists and composers Dave Douglas, Marcus Strickland, Matt Wilson and Kirk Nurock; guitarists Adam Rogers, Mike Moreno, Peter Bernstein, Nir Felder, Steve Cardenas, Vic Juris, Jack Wilkins, Richard Boukas, and Rory Stuart; and pianists Joanne Brackeen, George Cables, Garry Dial, and Rachel Z. While attending The New School, Emi was a member of the audition based Herbie Hancock Ensemble directed by George Cables
and Rory Stuart’s Advanced Rhythm Ensemble where he first met and collaborated with young rising jazz stars pianist James Francies, vibraphonist Joel Ross, and drummer Jeremy Dutton.
Now an honors graduate, Emi continues gaining recognition in the modern jazz scene as a rising contemporary improviser, composer, and arranger leading/sidemanning gigs and teaching in the greater New York area.

I've been trying to teach myself to play the guitar for months now, and I learned more with Emiliano in 2 lessons than I did in those months. If you really want to learn to play, get a lesson with Emiliano. It is worth it. He makes things easy to understand, and was super patient with me who has zero musical talent. I really cannot recommend him enough.
