Yoella & Malkiya O.
Mr Yakov is very pleasant, patient and professional. He makes learning fun. One of my daughters is very shy and particular. I was concerned for her first violin. But she ended up loving the lesson and the instructor. We did some lessons online and at his studio. During the online lesson, the connection with our internet was horrible. He could hear her playing but she couldn't hear him. Yet, patiently, he got creative and taught the lesson with my daughter through chat. The environment of the studio is comfortable. You can tell he's passionate about what he does. That left me with a great impression of him. We look forward to more lessons with him for as long as we can.
Thanks Mr Yakov!!!
I can help beginning students on bassoon learn the basics.
Thomas J. W. is an active music teacher, composer, adjudicator, and clinician in the greater Philadelphia area. He has over fifteen years experience as a concert band director, marching band director, jazz improvisation instructor, choral director, private instructor, and marching drill writer. His directing career has included small rural band programs, small metro programs, large high-achieving suburban programs, and non-profit youth bands. In addition to his band compositions, he also has over forty unpublished vocal arrangements to his credit, most written for use with collegiate men's a cappella groups. Thomas taught over 600 online and local private music lessons in 2016.
Thomas has a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from The Pennsylvania State University. He holds a teaching certificate in the states of Pennsylvania
and New Jersey and has taught at the secondary level in both states. In addition to both instrumental and choral ensembles at Penn State, Thomas was a student leader in the Penn State Blue Band and a member of the brass section of the Cadets of Bergen County Drum and Bugle Corps in 1993 and 1994. He served as an Associate Director of the Warren Junior Military Band of Youngstown, Ohio from 1995 to 2005. He also served as a visual staff member for the renowned North Penn Marching Knights of Lansdale, PA for one season in 2004.
He is a current adjudicator with Drum Corps International and Cavalcade of Bands. He is a member of MENC, PMEA, NJMEA, ASCAP, CASA, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and the National Band Association. He appeared in the Marquis Who's Who Among American Educators in 2004 and 2005, an honor rarely bestowed upon teachers, as students who appear in the Who's Who Among American High School Students must nominate them. He currently is a music teacher at the Center for Performing and Fine Arts of the PA Leadership Charter School in West Chester, PA and resides in Downingtown, PA with his wife and two sons.
Thomas will happily work with students on the autism spectrum or students with ADD.
*** Lesson Details *** My lessons are tailored to the needs and interests of each student. If a student is involved in school music ensembles, we will work with their lesson books from school in addition to material outside of the books, including SmartMusic, Noteflight, and teacher-created materials. We will focus on building proper tone production and individual technique - something that often is difficult to learn in a large ensemble setting.
I am capable of starting a beginner student on any band instrument including percussion, any classical string instrument (violin, viola, cello, string bass), and piano. I can begin a student on drum set and work with them through their first method book, but I would then recommend they find a specialized drum set teacher after a period of six to twelve months.
For advanced students, I work from selected conservatory etude books on developing advanced skills and can work with students on audition pieces for honors bands/orchestras or college auditions.
My lessons are a half-hour once a week, with the option of working for 45 minutes or 60 minutes.
Thomas is honestly an amazing musician and teacher. He was really patient with me. Despite having to deal with major timezone differences (as I live in Myanmar), he took the time to figure it out. Also, he helped me figure out the stuff it took me months to figure out. He also really knows what he's doing. I learned so much in that hour of practice. 10/10 would recommend him.

I am an active performer and teacher of bassoon, and am still an active learner on my instrument. Lessons with me are fun, engaging, and informative on this unique and often difficult instrument. I strive for my students to love the bassoon and enjoy working on their craft, whether a beginning band student or an aspiring professional. I earned my Bachelors of Music in Bassoon Performance from Sacramento State University and am currently earning my Masters of Music in Bassoon Performance at University of North Carolina, Greensboro. I also can help with reed making and adjusting, I make all of my own reeds and have for years.
Jack Fanning has been teaching the bassoon since 2015. He is currently available to teach lessons online, or at the student’s home (and is ready and willing to travel within the NC Triad area). Jack aims to make each lesson fun, enjoyable, educational, and informative. He has helped middle school and high school students win positions in youth orchestras and honor bands in California and North Carolina.
Jack studied bassoon performance with Dr. David Wells at California State University, Sacramento and studied bassoon performance with Dr. Michael Burns at University of North Carolina, Greensboro. The tutelage of these great bassoonists fostered a love of music education and sharing the magic of bassoon playing with younger students.
Jack holds a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Music Theory from University of North Carolina, Gree
nsboro. His training specifically focused on pedagogy of music theory and the study of current trends in music theory.
Jack is an accomplished bassoon reed maker and makes his reeds available to purchase for his students. The importance of a good reed to a young bassoonist is paramount; it is key to making great music and being successful from day to day.
Our daughter was amazed and in "Ah" with all she learned in just her first lesson with Jack. It was fantastic to see her excitement again for private lessons. So excited she wanted to continue playing and practicing even after the session. Thank you, Jack! She wanted me to let you know she is looking forward to many more days like this!😁👍

Jack is a friendly, encouraging instructor---a great match for my 11-year-old daughter. He's obviously an expert bassoonist, but does a fantastic job of explaining things clearly and simply for the less-advanced student. My daughter can't wait for her next bassoon lesson with Jack!

Very knowledgeable and friendly, and a great communicator about bassoon technique. Today was my daughter’s first lesson with Jack - She learned so much and has some good assignments to work on before the next lesson. We totally recommend Jack as an instructor!
Experienced Bassoon teacher of 7 years, I've worked extensively with beginner, intermediate, and advanced students of all ages. Whether you're a beginning band student, enthusiastic amateur, or have hopes of pursuing bassoon professionally, I can offer fun, challenging, and productive private instruction. About Eva Galina
As a professional bassoonist, I've enjoyed a versatile career both performing and teaching! I received my bachelors degree from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, PA, and my masters degree from Rice University in Houston, TX. I've enjoyed working and playing with some of the leading symphonic and opera orchestras around the country, including the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Atlanta Symphony, the Houston Symphony, the San Diego Symphony, Houston Grand Opera, Sarasota Opera, among others. I taught throughout the Greater Houston Area for two years before moving to California, and I'm currently building my private bassoon studio here in San Diego, while currently serving as bassoon instructor at the University of San Diego. Students can expect a solid approach to fundamentals, reeds, and music-making. I like to keep things fun an
d challenging, and will frequently play duets to develop ensemble skills.
Whether you're a beginner, enthusiastic amateur, or have dreams of playing bassoon professionally, I have the skills to get you where you need to go and to develop your musicianship.
I'm a Bassoon player with 12 years of experience. I have teach, played in orchestras, chamber groups and as a soloist artist.
I am a professional bassonist. I graduated from Vicente Emilio Sojo Music Conservatory (Barquisimeto - Venezuela) with a Bachelors of Music, specifically Bassoon.
The Bassoon is one of the most beautiful instruments but also one of the difficultest to play. Every bassoon player has a unique timbre; I teach students to release built up tension and apply foundational techniques in order to unlock their own individual sound. I can help any student to play with freedom, confidence, and expression.
I teach bassoon students of all different ages and experience levels, or even begginers. I studied classical bassoon for 10 years.
I've play in different orchestras, chamber groups and also as a soloist player in numerous occasions. So I can help students to be prepared for any audition or concert they have scheduled.
My personal passion is clas
sic music but I firmly believe that great technique is essential to any and every style. I look forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better musician!
I am an experienced private bassoon teacher and performer of orchestral, chamber, and solo music. In addition to teaching bassoon, I aim to supplement lessons with instruction of music theory. I am an avid bassoon reed maker and will happily provide high quality reeds to students at an affordable cost.
I am a bassoonist from California living in New York City, and I am graduating with my Bachelor's degree in Bassoon Performance from New York University in May 2019. In addition to studying music, I also freelance in the New York area and enjoy performing a wide range of music with orchestras, wind ensembles, and chamber ensembles. Having studied music and music performance for many years, I am aware that not all students learn the same way. As such, I enjoy getting to know students and identifying the most efficient yet comfortable way for them to learn this instrument. I aim for students not just to gain knowledge about the instrument, but to become thoughtful and adventurous musicians as well. As such, I am excited about supplementing bassoon lessons with instruction in music theory, and I am able to teach a variety of music spanning d
ifferent styles and time periods according to each student's goals and interests. As part of playing the bassoon, I do make all my own reeds and offer high quality bassoon reeds to all my students at an affordable cost.
"Jack is an AMAZING bassoon player and FANTASTIC instructor. He has taught my young son for over a year. We audited other music teachers who said they tau
ght bassoon but really only knew the basics of teaching bassoon, their real expertise were other instruments. I was particularly impressed by Jack's ability to relate to my 11 year old son. He makes learning the bassoon not only informative but engaging and fun. Jack not only teaches classical bassoon music but is open to teaching modern pieces that my son wanted to learn. (I mean, how cool is it that my 11 year old kid busts out the Star Wars Cantina Song on his bassoon.) Jack plays bassoon regularly with orchestras which gives him real world experience that he passes on to his students. When I have seen him play professionally, it amazed me that someone so young could show such majority and skill with his musical instrument. Jack is also a great problem solver. When my son has problems with a piece, Jack is able to hear the problem and give my son techniques on how to fix them. When my son had problems with the instrument itself or the double reed, Jack was able to show my son HOW to fix them and not just fix it for my son himself. I highly recommend Jack has an instructor for students both young and old."
"Mrs. Quick was an awesome bassoon teacher who taught me the instrument well in an astoundingly short amount of time. She was flexible and willing to adapt
to my sometimes hectic schedule. I would highly recommend her as a bassoon teacher."
"I feel that my first lesson went well. Dr. Woods had me feeling comfortable and her online instruction was very informative. I'm looking forward to work
ing with her and hopefully I'll be playing like a pro in no time."
"My daughter has been taking lessons from Jack since August 2017. Along with helping a student with performance, he educates the student on bassoon hist
ory and the unique qualities of the bassoon. He is great at starting at the student's level, but will challenging the student in subtle ways. At times he can be very entertaining. He shows his mastery of the bassoon (occasionally performing to demonstrate the nuances of a difficult piece of music). My daughter has enjoyed learning from Jack."
"Very knowledgeable and friendly, and a great communicator about bassoon technique. Today was my daughter’s first lesson with Jack - She learned so much an
d has some good assignments to work on before the next lesson. We totally recommend Jack as an instructor!"
"Great teacher and knows a lot of what she is doing"
"She was patient and helpful with my son and gave him suggestions to make it easier"
"Am a beginner with musical background on other instruments. Have only had one lesson so far, but it was great. Kristilyn communicates concepts simply an
d clearly and puts you at ease. A true educator, she understand where you are having problems and knows how to help you fix them. She not only explains the 'how,' but also the 'why,' and teaches with comparisons to common every day actions to illustrate concepts as they relate to playing the bassoon. She answered questions before my lesson, which greatly aided me as I was deciding which brand and model bassoon to buy. I feel lucky to have found such a person to take on a bassoon beginner. Can hardly wait to advance to be able to mine the knowledge and experience of this resource in more depth."
"Rebecca is an amazing person and one of the best teacher my son has ever had. She very knowledgeable about music. Rebecca tough him to play the bassoon, a
nd my son has preformed in more than 4 concerts within 7 months period, Rebecca really made a difference in my child performance. She is reliable, very responsible, she always go the extra mile for her students. I highly recommend her as a music teacher."
