I have been teaching bassoon and saxophone for just over 9 years. I am currently a sub for the Fort Collins Symphony, and have performed or been invited to perform with other professional symphonies such as the Norman Philharmonic and the Oklahoma City Repertory Theater. I am certified to teach K-12 music and was teaching Elementary music for the past year in Evergreen and Morrison, CO. I have taught Early Childhood music, Elementary music, Middle School and High School Band and Orchestra as well as community bands such as the New Horizons Band in Norman, OK. I am originally from Owasso, OK and received both my Music Education and Music Performance (woodwind) degrees from The University of Oklahoma. I moved to Lafayette, CO a year ago with my cat, Luna, and girlfriend, Kristen, who is getting her master's degree in Clarinet Performance/Pedagogy at CU Boulder. A few hobbies I have recently started getting into are archery and coding! At the end of 7th grade I will start making parts of some of our lessons “reed lessons” to get my students a start at adjusting and maybe even making their own reeds! I teach all my students the basics of practicing so that they can become their own teacher. Bassoonists have 2 instruments: The Bassoon, and The Bassoon double reed. I hope I can help you share your passion with others through your music-making!

My 13 year old son has so far taken a half dozen or so lessons from Jared (both online and in person), and it is going great. Jared has developed a great rapport with him and seems very thoughtful about how is the lessons are organized. Jared has also been flexible about rescheduling, which for a parent of said boy is super helpful.
The teacher is very informed and prepared therefore he is also very didactic. A must have instructor.
Knowledgeable, informative, helpful, timely, patient, and well-liked by my 14-year-old aspiring bassoonist. Recommend!
