I'm engaged with the process of teaching bassoon students from the beginner level up to the advanced level. I make sure to make them aware of the importance of proper cleaning and care for their bassoons. I'm a patient teacher and know that everyone learns differently and at different speeds. I like to play duets with the students to make the lessons fun. I'm knowledgeable about bassoon solo pieces and orchestral repertoire and am able to help to help students prepare for solo contests. I emphasize the development of technique through slow scales and gradually expand the range. I'm able to add a little humor in the lessons to make the lessons fun. I view myself as a student in the process of teaching, too. I'm also engaged with teaching students proper embouchure, breath support and talk to them about reeds and am able to teach them reed making and adjustment as they become more advanced. Lee is an accomplished bassoonist who specializes in working with new and developing bassoon players. Lee can direct students to the best bassoon reeds and accessories, as well as offer the best advice on starting and improving skills on bassoon. 

Lee uses the New Weissenborn Method books and offers a digitized library of elementary solo pieces, standard bassoon literature and orchestral excerpts.

Lee received a Master of Music degree in Bassoon Pedagogy (Belmont University) and graduated from Loyola University New Orleans (Bachelor of Music Education), where she performed as principal bassoonist for both orchestras.

Lee also graduated from the U.S. Armed Forces School of Music and served as a Bassoon Player in the U.S. Army with the 1st Cavalry Division Band. She currently performs with several orchestras and bands in the Los Angeles area.

With 12 years of Bassoon playing experience and 6 years of teaching experience, I'm excited to expand my studio online and in person to reach an even wider range of students. I am prepared to teach at all levels from beginner to collegiate and for a wide range of lesson lengths (For any lengths not posted on TakeLessons, I am available for individual inquiries). I'm hoping to form a stable group of students which grow and learn over years of continued dedication to bassoon and music in general.
I am an experienced teacher and performer with two musical degrees, a Master's degree in Bassoon Performance from Arizona State University and a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from University of New Hampshire. My travels around the US and abroad have taught me many interesting things about bassoon playing in different climates and at extreme altitudes which have informed my playing tremendously! The bassoon is an amazing instrument! The nickname for the bassoon is the "clown of the orchestra". I am so excited to teach you more about the bassoon! I am an interactive teacher who can assist you in many ways in regards to learning how to play the bassoon including; correct posture, new breathing techniques, correct fingerings, alternative fingerings, half-hole technique, improved sight-reading skills, greater music theory knowledge, and performance skills.
