Learn to chicken pick, play slide and improvise over different chord progressions.

About Jon
I have been playing guitar since the age of 9. I have studied Classical, and Jazz at CCM's Prep Dept. in middle school and throughout high school as well as rock, folk, country etc. with other local teachers. I started teaching lessons at the age of 18 in local music stores and have never stopped. While doing this I attended The College of Mount St. Joseph where I studied Classical and Jazz guitar as well as Music Ed. In addition to my 22 years of private lesson experience, I have 2 years of classroom experience teaching general music in elementary schools. I believe it is my years as a student and instructor that enable me to be an effective teacher, having had learned what worked for me as a student, and what has shown to work as a teacher.

*** Lesson Details ***
I cater my lesson to the individual. I like for students to have
a structured practice routine and working knowledge of music and their instrument, but it has to be fun. I have students who learn Classical, rock, and Jazz. Each lesson is different. Some people just want to be able to play their favorite songs by a camp fire, and others want to go on to perform at Carnegie Hall. I enjoy teaching both lessons and put forth the same enthusiasm for each one. You get out of the guitar or bass what you put into it in terms of learning and practicing. The level of achievement is up to you, I will help guide you to meet your goals regardless of how large or small they are.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Spare music room: guitars, amps, bass; computer with recording software, ProTools seating for parents

*** Travel Equipment ***
I have all the equipment necessary. I would like the student to have an instrument, but if not I can provide one for the lesson.

*** Specialties ***
I'm really pretty versatile. Over 18 years of teaching anywhere from 80 to 100 students a week will do that.

About Eugene
I have been teaching guitar for over 30 years and have had the privilege of studying with some of the finest guitarists in the world which include Aldo Minella, Sulaiman Zai, Javier Calderon, Dr. Lily Afshar, Benjamin Verdery and Kevin Gallagher. I also studied jazz with Berklee professor Sal Difusco and Chris Buono.

As a teacher. I have been a high school teacher for the past 20 years and am certified in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a history teacher. I have worked with all types of learning styles and test preps. As an educator, I have gone through all the background CORI checks already.

If you are taking lessons at my studio I just wanted to alert people that we have 2 very friendly English Cocker Spaniels. This is obviously important for people that have allergies to know.

Thank you for reading my profile.

I really enjoyed working through beginner/intermediate classical guitar with Gene. He was always prepared and very knowledgeable about the different pieces we were working on. He helped my technique tremendously, and structured my progress in a way I wouldn't have been able to do myself. If you are serious about wanting to learn guitar I strongly recommend getting a teacher, and if you live in the Boston area I highly recommend Gene.

Hello fellow music lover!

My name is Scott, and I'm a musician with 15+ years of performance experience. I've studied guitar performance at Berklee College of Music and performed in various configurations from funk/soul ensembles, to folk-rock bands and I write my own music that I perform as a solo artist.

I love teaching because it allows me to share my love of music and help people grow creatively in the direction of their choice. My feeling is, if you're choosing to invest in your artistic development, it should be an enjoyable experience based around what you're interested in learning about. To that end, all of my lessons are customized to the tastes and preferences of each student. We'll identify the goals you'd like to work towards, the music you want to play and take concrete steps in line with your creative vision.

Scott is a patient and supportive teacher. He helped me tap into my musical intuition while also supporting a practical understanding of music theory. Working with Scott felt like having a mentor, rather a teacher, to support me on my musical journey.

Scott taught me introductory drums. Scott is warm, funny, and adaptable - he made learning fun and easy for me. I didn't feel dumb when I made mistakes, in no small part because Scott was very encouraging and pointed out the things I was doing well!

Another reason to take lessons with Scott - he's incredibly talented and plays multiple instruments. For example, I wanted to practice playing drums in a "band" setting, so Scott grabbed an electric bass and we started jamming.

10/10 would recommend, especially if you like laughing a lot while you learn a new skill!

I teach in a variety of styles, including blues, country, funk, Jazz, and rock. I can teach acoustic, electric, slide and finger style. I also am knowledgeable in music theory and reading music. I will base my lessons on how/what my current students want to learn.

About Jarred
I am a semi-professional guitar player and songwriter. I have played in the local Dover - Seacoast area with different groups over the years which is given me a greater understanding about my craft.

Students can expect to improve incrementally after each week as we explore different techniques and styles that the student is interested in. I will teach you proper building blocks for good technique in order to get the best sound and achieve the best playing experience possible.
I can teach students of all ages and skill levels. I can teach you to read and learn things by the book, or I can teach you to learn by ear. I base my lessons around the goals of the student.

I have a passion for playing music and sharing my joy with people through that. I can't wait to meet you and help you start your musical journey!

Jarred is skilled and enthusiastic performer who understands the value of good teaching. He can provide a student with material and inspiration to learn and progress in their desired musical style because he's played them all--blues, rock, jazz... and can teach improvisation techniques in any of these genres.

Jarred is hands down the best guitar teacher you could ask for. As I am a working adult and it’s tough to take the time to learn new things, Jarred takes each lesson at my pace. He also makes sure I am pushing myself week to week so I’m not going too slow either. Other guitar teachers have discouraged me from playing as they have a hard time explaining where to start and get the confidence to keep at it (some are even more interested in showing you their skills instead of teaching you). Jarred is the exact opposite of that. He took time to understand what I wanted to learn and focused on improving my struggles in a way that built my confidence instead of bringing back any past discouraging memories. Instead of quitting again, I now look forward to playing guitar and after a month and a half can play a good chunk of Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd. This is your guy if you really want to learn how to play!

I can’t say enough how happy I am to have Jarred giving lessons to my 10 year old son. Jarred is an amazing teacher who is so knowledgeable, patient, and a wonderful teacher! My son looks forward to Jarred coming every week and has made leaps and bounds since starting lessons not too long ago. Jarred comes well prepared and organized to the lessons, and I am amazed at how far my son has come. I can’t recommend Jarred enough!

Whether it’s rock, jazz, classical, or anything in between, I will show you the basics and get you on your way to playing and singing (if you choose) in no time!

About Amanda
Hi my name is Amanda and I’m a music teacher in Massachusetts!

I’ve been playing trumpet for over 20 years and have many different experiences playing professionally on trumpet, guitar, piano, and my latest endeavor—bass.

I’ve taught thousands of students in the general music setting and hundreds in private lessons. Many of them have gone on to perform in local auditioned festival groups and some even play professionally!

My philosophy has always been that if you’re a great musician, teaching becomes second nature. I like to meet each individual where they are at while pushing them to their next level.

I’d love to hear from you and get you on your way into the music world!
