After Teaching voice for the past few years it's clear that one thing is universal no matter what kind of singer you are: It takes an impressive amount of courage and self awareness to be heard through song. The Voice is one of the highest form of emotional expression, taking the whole body; as the whole body is the instrument. In these lessons we will focus on breath, bring attention to tension, support, and placement of the voice. Giving you the freedom to be heard. HI! I'm Emily and I am a professional actor/singer teaching voice lessons! With several years of teaching experience under my belt and an extensive music education, having gained a BFA in Musical Theater from the Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, I work with all age groups and skill levels. To me, vocal health and pedagogy is the most important thing, followed closely by creating a fun learning environment for my students.
Whether you are someone taking voice lessons for the first time, or an advanced student looking to work on a specific goal(s), I craft my lessons specifically for the student. Really taking into account your specific strengths and areas for growth. I prioritize a positive, enjoyable learning experience above all else. Singing should be fun! I can't wait to work with you.

I am a creative and innovative instructor who loves helping each student find their voice and pursue their unique interests musically.  I completed my Masters in Music at Northwestern University in 2015, where I sought to create and present exciting multimedia recitals that combined classical music with other art forms. I believe one of the most important things we can do as musicians is connect music to our larger experiences, and, in my lessons, I help students form a strong technical and theoretical foundation as well as connect to the deeper meanings and connections of songs. For the past 3 years, I have taught voice and piano lessons with Flatts and Sharpe Music Company in Chicago and have extensive experience teaching online lessons.
