I focus on creating a safe and free sound. Alignment is the basis a great technique. Each person is different, and knowing how to help them release unwanted tension is critical.
The vocal folds are the core of the sound, and must be given the utmost care and consideration. Proper hydration is essential. They are also muscles, that need strengthening exercises and time for them to change. This will improve your vocal endurance and range. As a highly trained voice teacher, I can hear if the vocal folds are behaving in a healthy and efficient manner. It is essential that your teacher understand how to care for these delicate components of the human voice.
Vocal resonance is how opera singers are heard without amplification. It can be enhanced through awareness and coordination of the various portions of the vocal tract. There are two main components that help magnify the sound. The pharynx, also known as the throat, and the soft palate. Having an open throat and lift ...

I teach from a very technical standpoint. Form and function, physicality, and basic science can teach you a lot about singing properly. My goal is to get the student to a point where they can teach themselves when they build their voice and the lesson becomes a weekly or monthly check in of the progress. As singers we want good results, but we have to focus on the process and the result will follow on its own correctly without forcing the result we want. This process of optimal sound and beautiful tone can take some time, but when the steps are taken correctly, the results become ideal.
About David
David spent two years as a member of Minnesota Opera’s prestigious Resident Artist Program. There, he sang Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, Tybalt in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette, and debuted the shepherd Silvio in a new production of the Lore
Mr. Walton made his Glimmerglass debut as Parpignol in La bohème and sang the role of Count Alberto in Rossini's L'occasione fa il ladro as a member of their Young Artist Program. He also covered Reverend Parris in Francesca Zambello’s staging of The Crucible, performed the tenor solo from Rossini’s Stabat Mater, and played Frederic in a scene from The Pirates of Penzance for special guest Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. As a Gerdine Young Artist with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, Mr. Walton covered Matthew Gurney in Tobias Picker’s Emmeline, sang a Student in La rondine, and Belmonte in scenes from Mozart’s The Abduction from the Seraglio with the Saint Louis Symphony. He also sang Azor in Opera for the Young’s tour of Zemire et Azor by André Grétry and both Belmonte and Ernesto with Brava! Opera Theatre in Ashland, Oregon. David sang with Cantus Vocal Ensemble for three full seasons, touring the country and the world appearing at The Kennedy Center, The Royal Opera House of Muscat Oman, NPR Tiny Desk, and A Prairie Home Companion.

Music is a way of living that enhances your creativity, gives a hopeful vision and makes the life sparkling. After my professional opera experiences for many years, frankly I can say that you can't loose the child of your inside that makes you different than the others. During my education process, I realized that the key of loving your work was also related to your instructors. Being a mentor, leading a way of something that will reflect someone's life is so precious and requires some responsibilities and solid background. When I was a student, I was always passionate about looking to work with the best teachers, I was extremely interested in learning something new. So I believe If you're a teacher, you should have strong skills, knowledge, willing, a good human being, kind attitude , patient and passion. It sounds cliche but people deserve it. So my goals in teaching, causing to be loved the music, raising people who feel full of elements of singing, explore the abilities of ...
