Every musician was first and foremost a fan of music. My love of music began when my mother took me to a performance of Beethoven's fifth symphony when, coincidentally, I was five. From that point, I started fervently listening to my mother's records (those are the huge, black monstrosities that people in the pre-historic used in place of iPods), followed closely by my father's CD collection. After a while, this ravenous desire of to know and feel music moved me to play an instrument. After a couple of false starts with the drums and violin, I found my true musical calling: the guitar.
On January 25th 1995, on a whim, I began playing the guitar, and I have yet to put it down. Along the way I've picked up a number of friends for my guitar, including the bass, the lute, the sitar and, once again, the drums. After on
ly a few years of practice, I started playing professionally, in bands and solo guitar. Live playing experience, I believe, is the most important experience that any musician can have, in that, the most important part of music is how it sounds, and playing in front of people is the quickest way to learn how to play effectively. And this is what I teach; how to be a musician, not just a technician.
*** Lesson Details *** A student can expect a curriculum tailor-made to their needs and personality. Every person learns differently and this is an important distinction in my teaching style. Some students need a strong hand to keep them working, others need to find many different ways to the same conclusion to keep them focused, while still others need a laid-back friend in order to accept knowledge.
I stress rhythmic literacy, for, as my jazz teacher always said, "rhythm is king." If composition is important to you, then we'll focus on music theory, but if you're just wanting to learn how to play some fun rock tunes with your friends on the weekends, we can do that as well. As I stated before, we'll get you playing in front of people in no time.
*** Travel Equipment *** I provide an amplifier, a loner guitar (if needed), staff and/or tablature paper, metronome, pens and paper for the lessons.
*** Specialties *** Music theory and composition, guitar, bass, lute, beginner to intermediate piano Classical, shred, blues, and rock guitar; renaissance lute; blues, rock and slap bass; composition of many styles; world music.
Trevor is wonderful, fun and patient every single class!!!! - Our 12 years old son has been with him for a year now and his playing is amazing. So much progress so fast and so many different kinds of style already - I love that my son gets so excited when it is the day of his guitar lesson with Trevor!!!!!

Don is a super experienced musician that promotes local singer songwriters. He is very flexible with his schedule and lesson plans.
September 15, 2017
Don was very kind, patient, and encouraging. He brought over a lot of his own materials so it was much less stressful trying to find things to do.
June 26, 2017
Don does an outstanding job! He is able to connect authentically my son and customized the lessons to fit his learning style and needs. Don has drawn so much out of him musically and has also built a community of students that play together. He makes the lessons fun and engaging. He has opened up my 7-year old to the joy of playing and performing and has helped create a love of music. I highly recommend Don as a music teacher.
Whether your goals are for personal enrichment or professional growth, your lesson will be personalized according to what's important to you. I LOVE to teach, and appreciate my wee ones just as much as my elders...those who consider themselves "tone deaf" as much as my advanced students. As far as Special Needs go - I feel we *ALL* have special needs....every child and every adult.
As the creator and producer of San Diego IndieFest and Say It Records, I have a unique understanding of the industry, and love to share that with my students.
Hello Students / Parents!
I specialize in providing a safe, fun and empowering space for each student to reach their goals - whether that be for the novice whose been wrongfully told they shouldn't pursue their passion, the more experienced musician/actor/poet/speaker looking to do more, or the budding artist looking to develop the talent and vision within them. I'm fluent in English and Spanish and have experience singing and recording in many languages.
I always remember the inspiration and patience I received from my best teachers, so I strive to provide exactly that to my own students. I sing and teach most vocal styles, with the exception of opera and screamo, and utilize my studio to create a supportive, non-judgemental experience singing, acting, speaking, writing and recording. I absolutely love teaching both children and ad
ults and look forward to learning how to best support each one of my students in their individual path toward realizing their potential.
Here's a bit about my background and musical experience:
Bachelors of Fine Arts degree (Theatre/Voice) from United States International University Graduated Valedictorian Chula Vista School of Creative and Performing Arts Graduated Valedictorian Workshops and studies with Directors, Voice and Acting Teachers Bill Doyle, Roy Mote, Andrew Barnicle, Jack Tygett, Leanne Summers, Anne Farnsworth, among others.
"After seeing Danielle, I was impressed with her intensity as a performer. Her ability to get behind a lyric was stunning, she lives every line. As an artistic performer, I've yet to see better." -Tony Ferguson / Interscope Records: No Doubt, Bush, Fisher
My original band, Danielle and The Masses, has been recording and performing since 2001. We are endorsed by Justin Tranter, Ani Difranco, The Black Eyed Peas, The Bruce Hornsby Band, among others, and have shared the stage with Jamie Foxx, CAKE, Metric, En Vogue, David Byrne, Berlin, Margaret Cho, Cyndi Lauper, Jonatha Brooke, Beth Hart, Semi Precious Weapons and more.
I have written and performed music and voice over for Ace Ventura, Nutty Professor, VH1, various TV shows and independent documentaries, Eveoke Dance Theatre, among others, and have recorded eight professional CDs of various styles on various record labels.
For over fifteen years, my record / production company, Say It Records has been producing socially conscious music events throughout San Diego and Southern California that promote independent music, film, art, community, human and environmental rights. I also co-own Durga Sound, a teaching and production studio, with producer Alicia Champion. The two of us created and produced San Diego IndieFest for over ten years, a powerful community event promoting and supporting independent music, film, art and civic engagement.
I have a great time utilizing my contacts in the industry to help my students get work/ press / entrance into the schools, agencies and studios of their choice. For example, we were able to book many musicians on the TV show GLEE, among others, as well as help students get their music placed in commercials, film and the like.
*** Lesson Details *** I start on the first lesson by becoming clear about what the new student's goals and desires are from there, we start developing technique to achieve those goals along with having fun right away doing what they came for - singing, writing, voice over, acting or using a combination of these things be it for professional purposes or personal fulfillment. Every lesson is personally customized to meet the specific goals of each student. As a teacher, I'm encouraging and fun, passionate and positive. While I'm definitely not "strict", I do appreciate focus and drive. However, I often work with people who have special needs and are working on developing those very things. I'm especially good at helping people through progress plateaus, roadblocks, stage fright, loss/ stress. Using music as a means of release and healing - for both kids and adults - is something I do a lot of and am very comfortable with.
As far as technique is concerned, I focus on utilizing posture, correct breathing and developing relaxed, strong support, so that the muscles are developed properly. We want the voice to develop without stress, enabling the student to constantly grow while steering clear of any injury that can happen as a result of straining, not to mention other habits that manifest when we sing without proper technique.
I strongly encourage students to record their lessons on a mobile device so they can practice easily on their own, and so they eventually have a record of how far they've grown. We mostly use tracks to develop repertoire, prepare for auditioning and performances, and to have fun singing the music that excites each student the most.

*** Specialties *** Using music, writing and voice as a means of expressing yourself, growing as a performance artist, coping in challenging times, as well as a means of going professional and earning income are all areas I specialize in. Utilizing proper technique and learning how to sing / speak safely is also an area I focus on a great deal.
Learning precisely what each student wants is the key factor in my decision on how to achieve their goals. For example, using Speech Level Singing is definitely entrenched in my teaching, but I may not highlight it as much for those who want a more classical sound.
I excel with the following: first timers, very young kids, students working through stage fright, artists looking to develop their own original project, those seeking growth in their process of writing / recording / performing, those who are interested in using music and / or writing as therapy as well as with amateurs who've always wanted to do something musical but who think they are "too old" or too "untalented/short/tall/ fill in the blank" to try. I believe we all have something to say with our lives - finding the voice within you can be an incredibly powerful and transformative experience!
Ms. Danielle is a wonderful / excellent instructor. I booked 10 sessions with Ms. Danielle for vocal training and it was worth every dollar. I am singing this week at a big event, and because of Ms. Danielle vocal training, I am prepared to sing three back to back songs with the strongest voice ever!!!! Ms. Danielle doesn't know it yet, but I do plan to make her my life vocal coach.

The rating says it all. Best. Instructor. Ever. Danielle is amazing. She's so patient and kind and loving. Half the reason I take lessons from her is because she makes me feel so good about myself. She's so much more than a singing teacher. She's a creative guide. She will help you move beyond self doubt and explore your creativity. And of course, my rhythm and pitch are improving rapidly. Can't recommend her enough!

I enjoy my first lesson with Ms. Danielle. She is a great singing coach. I am looking forward to learning great singing skills from this instructor.

Beginner, intermediate and advanced are all welcome. I give the same attention to teaching amateurs as I do professionals.
Cancellation/Rescheduling Policy: Forty-eight (48) hours advance notice is necessary to cancel or reschedule any lesson. Otherwise, students are responsible for the full payment. In the event of a last-minute reschedule, with your cooperation, I will always do my best to find us a make-up slot. However, I cannot guarantee one. This option is only available if it does not postpone any future lessons or exceed seven (7) days. Thank you, in advance, for your consideration and cooperation.
Alan is a fantastic teacher! Both for voice and guitar, he will be patient and thorough, building solid technique but also adding your emotional and creative abilities to be more musical !

Awesome instructor, musician, coach, person! Listened to me for just a few minutes and confidently outlined a plan to help me meet my goals. Goals he painstakingly sought to clearly understand. This is going to be a fun journey.

Andy was such a great teacher. My 7 year old son looked forward to his lessons with Andy every week. We were very bummed we had to stop lessons because of moving out of state. Andy has such a great way of teaching and has such patience with kids.
I can guide you through the basics of recording, mixing, and mastering your own music projects.
My name is Chris B. and I've been playing music for most of my life.
The best lesson that I've personally learned is that a musician is never done learning. Once you start believing that you know everything there is to know about your instrument then you've stopped growing musically. Personally, I've also learned that I enjoy sharing my knowledge of music with others and exposing students to new techniques and concepts.
I strongly believe that these traits are the most important aspects of teaching music to others. No matter how advanced my playing skills might progress, I’ll always be able to relate to any type of student because I’m still learning something new everyday!
Awesome first lesson for our 14 year old daughter! She’s pumped to continue with Chris, and we’re pleased with the entire process so far.
June 26, 2019
I have been taking lessons from Chris for 5 years. He is very open to learn and teach all styles of music. in turn, allowing me learn and play music I though i never would. His guidance in "the technology" of music is also greatly appreciated.
The learning experience with Chris is top notch, never an issue with communication or punctuality.Always able to move around his busy schedule for the "adult" student.
I want to thank Chris for allowing to find my "Soul Mustard" He is the best you can find

Chris is an awesome instructor! He was patient and professional. I was truly a beginner and Chris helped me every step of the way. I would recommend him to anyone looking to pick up a guitar or further enhance your skills. Thanks for all the help!
I have been recording for over 8 years and have a vast knowledge of how to capture sounds best at their source so that mixing becomes the easy part!
A great teacher or mentor or even friend can help shape one's life. I have had the great privilege to have been taught by some of the best and brightest musicians around the world and know first hand how mentors can awe one with infinite possibilities and opportunities that await in the world of sound. I only aim to give back some of this magic, and keep this wonder alive and spreading among everyone.
I have been playing guitar since I was 11 years old, producing music since I was 12 years old and have been actively involved in the recording and live music scenes of Las Vegas since the age of 14. I attended the Las Vegas Academy as a Guitar Major and recently graduated with my Associates of Business degree from CSN. I have a wealth of experience and knowledge that I would absolutely love to share with you.
To learn something, you m
ust become obsessed with the craft- I've been obsessed with this craft since before my mind could even conceive what I was hearing! What better way to learn is there than to jump straight into the madness with someone (yours truly) who is already obsessed and constantly learning new things about all music and sounds?!
Let me help you realize and actualize the musical potential that you never knew you had!
I am a beginner acoustic guitar player. I was very impressed with him. He is well rounded musician and very patient teacher.

This was my third teacher after looking for about a year. Awesome to work with and he really knows his stuff! He easily explained some tough techniques that I had never been able to understand. Now I hold it down with my band and we’re about to start playing shows!
"I really enjoy learning from Russ. He is good at relating things back to a way I can understand and improve. He is so versatile in his music knowledge tha
t I can litterally throw anything his way that I'm curious about and he points me in the right direction. I've taken guitar, bass, vocal, and even production lessons from Russ. By far the most value I have ever got from an instructor. At first I was a little hesitant because of the higher price than others, but when you start noticing that you are learning stuff other teachers had no idea about, it makes sense to pay a little more for the quality you get out of his lessons. Thanks Russ for all the lessons over the last few years! Wouldn't be where I am today without ya!"
"Colin is extremely patient and knowledgable. I went into it not really knowing how to record vocals. He only made me feel confident in my abilities and sh
owed me the way without being condescending, and also being super helpful throughout. He explained so many of the processes and aspects of the software and his confidence in me helped me perform better than expected! Super smart guy, he really knows his stuff."
"I love working with Seth, he is very good teacher. I would love to work with him again
He is very good, and I would love to work with him again in the
future. Mony pal,"
"Eric knows how to get the best performance from an artist. I look forward to doing more projects with him."
"Brandon is fantastic. I don't know that he's ever given me a word of bad advice, and has been a HUGE help in getting my career as a producer and narrator
off the ground. He's incredibly knowledgeable and skillful, and my experiences in both hiring him and learning from him have been absolutely fantastic. I would heartily recommend him!"
"Eric is great! He’s very knowledgeable about all of the aspects of music. We’ve recorded music together and collaborated and the music has been awesome.
I recommended him."
"When my Dad Lou turned 100 years old, and since he always liked to sing, we contacted Randy to make a record for the occasion. My dad had a good voice, b
ut with Randy at the piano (and adding an orchestra to the mix!!) my dad could easily have given Frank Sinatra a run for his money!! Randy was gracious, considerate and attentive to Lou’s every thought and his every tone. Lou is almost 102 now, and is quickly changing. I keep the record in my car and play it often, remembering and cherishing and tearing up for the good times it brings to mind."
"Will was everything I expected. I was looking for someone to teach naturally as opposed to rote (boring) learning. I'm sure Will can do rote but he did wh
at I asked.
He really knows his music and can teach in a way that gets my son directly into actually playing music, which is exactly what I was after.
He’s really flexible and can take anything and turn it into something good.
The pace was spot-on, matching perfectly the maximum my son could understand at the time.
I think my son learnt the absolute maximum he could in that short space of time and he learned a LOT."
"Chris is a wonderful instructor. I took music recording lessons from him and it was very informative and relaxed."
If you've ever stepped on stage to perform, you may not have thought much about the microphone you're about to use. But its history is actually pretty interesting, as music recording equipment has developed drastically since the first condenser microphone came on the market. These changes have made a big impact on the music industry as a whole, and, for better or worse, are here to stay.
Without outside amplification, the loudest musician wins every time. But when you int …
