I like to teach each lesson, for both voice and piano, by spending equal time on ear-training/sight-reading (sight-singing), technique, and repertoire.

For singers used to singing along with their favorite recordings, matching sounds coming from the piano can be quite a challenge. Luckily, we live in an age of smartphones and tablets. I say this because if you go to iTunes or the Google Play store and search “intonation,” there are many apps that will help you learn to sing in tune (on the correct pitch). I’m new to using these apps, but I plan to use these in lessons regularly. Aside from counting steady rhythms, the ability to sing in tune is one of the most important skills for any aspiring singer. And while I’m thinking about it, download a metronome too. (I’ll explain how to use this after you book a lesson..he he :)

Also, training singers can be difficult because they can't see their instrument, and often singers don’t practice because they can’t see their ...

Singing of all kinds begins with healthy vocal technique. Learning the correct warming up and use of the voice and breath is essential for a career in singing with any longevity. I use a combination of classical (bel canto) and contemporary styles of singing to bring out the best in each student's voice. We will work on breathing, range, voice blending, resonance, flexibility, projection and articulation. I am excellent at diagnosing and resolving vocal issues, as well as teaching students to connect to their material and sing with ease and expression.

About Wendy

I've been teaching private vocal instruction since 2003, and opened my own studio in 2008. I love helping people find their true, authentic voice, which I feel is essential not only for singers but many other people as well! Singing is a great joy, and the voice is one of our primary modes of expre

My name is Gretchen Tucker. I have been singing over 20 years. I have experience in a variety of choral settings, I hold a B.A. in music from Keene State College. I am also currently attending music therapy school. I am experienced in singing at weddings, funerals, patriotic, and historic events. My vocal training is popular, Broadway, religious, opera, and jazz. When I teach lessons I care much about the process, warmups, the anatomy, music theory, getting into character, vocal technique, and I have a kind and holistic approach. I believe music is a gift for everyone and that everyone can succeed. I love teaching beginners the power of music as well as seasoned musicians. I look forward to working with you.

A talented, patient teacher, Gretchen epitomizes the best qualities for musical instruction. Her technical knowledge of music theory is by far the most complete and deepest of anyone I have encountered. She has encouraged the gradual emerging of a latent talent talent I never knew I had as I was always discouraged from attempting any musical education.

"Dr. M. is a phenomenal teacher who does a great job customizing her lessons to the needs of the student. She has helped me make amazing progress with my voice, and just as importantly has helped me gain the confidence to be able to sign.

Her lessons are fun, effective, and very positive. All of which help the student learn more and get more out of the lesson. I highly recommend Dr. M. as a teacher to anyone (at any level) who is interested in becoming a better singer."

"Greg's a very good teacher. At first I wasn't sure how all the vocal exercises and breathing that we were doing were fitting together, but by the 5th lesson, I could see my singing improve significantly. Greg has a lot of experience, but doesn't try to overwhelm you or do things that are unnecessary. He works on what he thinks you're capable doing, but also guides you past your comfort zone a little bit each lesson as well. Recommended."

"It's my pleasure to recommend Tania as a voice teacher without reservation. I had the pleasure of working with her as her accompanist/vocal coach for several years while we both lived in Florida. Tania possesses a beautiful soprano voice, is quite a talented actress and is quite facile with French, German and Italian diction. She's an excellent teacher; I've had the pleasure of hearing some of her students sing. If you're looking for a voice teacher, Tania would be an outstanding choice."

"My son has been taking piano and singing lessons with Laurel for 2 years, and he has honestly enjoyed every lesson. Laurel provides a holistic approach to music education that goes far beyond reading music. In her lessons, she incorporates music theory, ear training, exposure to a variety of musical and performing styles, and fosters creativity and expression. She gently encourages my son to stretch and try different styles of music. Through all of this, Laurel is unfalteringly patient, positive, and kind. I feel incredibly lucky to have Laurel giving my son such a well-rounded, positive music education, and I highly recommend her!"
