I've played & taught Guitar (Acoustic & Electric ) , for over 20 years. Performing in bands, and studio recording.

About Jeffrey
Intro***
Hi, My name is Jeff Keefer, I've enjoyed Teaching Guitar, Bass Guitar & Piano to 100's of students, Male & Female (Ages 12 & Up)..for over 20 years. Experience in both , Teaching, and Performing, along with plenty of patience and enthusiasm, I feel makes me an ideal Teaching Candidate!!!
Student Requirements***
I would expect my guitar students to own(or have) their own instrument. If upon inspection I see it's unplayable, I would try and recommend necessary repairs, etc. (same applies for bass students..and piano(especially the tuning..if not electric). .I would want all my students to have a spiral notebook, and/or music staff paper. If they're playing electric guitar or (especially elect. bass, they should own an amp. If they come to my studio, they would only need to bring their instrument(gtr/bass-NOT piano) and notebook, pic
ks..etc. I MAY suggest method books, etc.during the course of lessons, when appropriate.

*** Specialties ***
I prefer to teach popular styles(Rock, Country, Folk)..I can teach Jazz, and have, to students up TO intermediate level. My method, though flexible, tends to lean towards accompaniment. Learning to play their instrument along w/ their favorite song, w/ their own singing(or someone else)..or playing at some point w/ other musicians. Again I'm flexible, and not everybody wants to get in a band, but I find w/about 90% it's in the back of their mind. So to me it's about "SONGS". Learning the songs they like ,they in turn are learning a better understanding of their instrument. ..A better understanding of their instrument, and they can attempt a wider range of song material. It's one big circle, and I instill this to all my students, one way or another.

He is a great music teacher, period. Perfect for anyone who wants to learn piano, guitar or bass, in a simple, affordadle, and highly understandable way. I love the way he teaches, as it makes learning guitar fun, and I look forward to my lessons and practicing at home. He gives 45 minute lessons but they can extend sometimes, which is great. Also, he is super flexible, so rescheduling and changing a practice time with him is very easy. Overall, Jeff is a great music teacher with great skills and a great love for teaching people one of his passions.

I've been taking piano lessons from Jeff for about 8 months now and am thrilled with my progress in such a short time. I had absolutely zero ability or experience in playing music prior to starting. Jeff has an amazing knowledge and passion for music, but more importantly, he has the ability to teach music in a way that is easy to pick up and fun to learn. He is patient with his students and would be an ideal teacher at any level. I would absolutely recommend Jeff to anyone looking to learn music and am looking forward to continuing my lessons in the coming year.

We'll work on learning your favorite songs, ear training, theory, improvisation, and nailing the sounds and styles of your favorite guitarists!

About Cameron
STUDYING WITH ME:

Learning guitar should be interesting and fun! While we're studying all the different aspects of the instrument, you'll also be learning how to play your favorite songs and solos! I approach each student as an individual and structure their lessons according to what I determine they need, as well as what they are interested in musically. I concentrate on many different areas; ear training, theory, playing technique, improvisation, various styles of music, and, the physics of the guitar. Understanding how the instrument works is important in my opinion. My long term goal is to teach a student how they can teach themselves down the line. Understanding why you’re playing something is just important as knowing how to play it. I aim to give a student rich and well rounded one-on-one time!

GENERAL BIOGRAPHY:

I h
ave been teaching and performing for over a decade both in the US, and in England. I have played in various bands and have produced independent artists. I have worked for a recording studio and for various academic institutions including the Filomen M. D'Agostino Greenberg Music School in New York city.

I obtained my degree from Purchase College in New York and am a member of their Conservatory of Music.

*** Lesson Details ***
I construct lessons for each individual student depending on their musical tastes, goals, and current skill level etc. I want each person to get as much from their time studying with me as possible. Within three to six months, I'll have you working on timing, theory, ear training, improv, and songs/styles of music you may be interested in. I'm laid back, however, I expect at least the minimum practice time between lessons, which I'll change throughout the course of our time together depending on your skill level etc. Practice materials I draw up are included. I write out everything in plain English and do not require the use of sheet music!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Small recording studio, piano, various guitars, bass, and amps.

*** Travel Equipment ***
guitar, bass, laptop, digital recorder.

*** Specialties ***
I concentrate on ear training, improvisation, and explore styles ranging from pop, alternative, rock, prog, and blues, to metal, funk, and folk etc. I do not require sight reading skills for any level of student. Rather, I work with the student with theory and arrangement conventions to really understand the music. This intern, greatly sharpens their musical ear and helps them to learn music much faster because they understand how it is put together; why and how it works, etc.

***Teaching Special Needs***
I have experience teaching students who have been visually impaired,
blind, hearing impaired, or who have had mild learning disabilities. I
am also comfortable with a student bringing their service dog or
therapy dog to our lessons if they wish.

Cameron is an excellent teacher for me. I am 11 years old and have been playing for almost a year with him. He is patient and makes me stretch to be a better guitarist. He takes time to find songs at my level of learning and accommodates my tastes in music. I would recommend him for anyone who is interested in playing guitar.

A solid teacher with a lot of experience

Cameron is great at tailoring the lessons to my musical taste without compromising the theory, basics and fundamentals.
I have been taking lessons for one year and will not go elsewhere anytime soon. His vast musical knowledge helps merge the theory with concrete examples. No question remains unanswered.

Get up and running with lead guitar improvisation in the first lesson!

About Adam
According to Vintage Guitar Magazine I am "looking to bring a new sound to instrumental guitar music" and that my original songs are "a memorable mix of country, jazz, rock and soul that transcends all genres." As a sideman, my resume includes numerous tours with national acts and I've also had songs on SiriusXM Radio.

And I love teaching and sharing my knowledge of music! My teaching background has been with all ages and all levels of students. I've had great success with getting beginners off the ground and helping them play the music they enjoy. Nothing is off-limits whether it be pop songs, fingerpicking, metal anthems, country pickin', jazz standards, blues improvisation -- you name it.

I don't have a "method" but rather tailor our sessions to your individual needs. Everyone is different and I spend the time preparing material
that works for YOU.

*Dec 2018* update -- I have a built up a great student roster and am very full right now. My after work/school slots during the week are full so any lessons would have to be mornings or weekends.

Together we will play and begin to understand a multitude of styles and techniques, the role of the guitar pickup and their many styles, uses, and purposes, the amplifier and how it is part of your instrument, and how to utilize effect pedals in your guitar signal chain.

If you're a beginner, we're going to focus most specifically on your guitar playing abilities, including your rhythm, ear training, we'll learn chords, basic fretboard theory and how to fully utilize your entire guitar neck.

If you're a more advanced player, we'll focus on more advanced rhythms and ear training, picking techniques, fingerpicking, more advanced harmony and chord voicings, reading music, extended chords, and getting into effect pedals, and which ones to utilize for yourself.

I have found the best approach to doing this is by selecting music that you like to listen to and play, as it is much more fun to practice something that you enjoy rather than doing busywork to build skill.

About Tyler
Hi, I'm Tyler! Born and raised in Roswell, New Mexico, I am the son of a band director. That being said, I have literally been involved in music since I was an infant! I played trombone, bass trombone, and bass guitar all the way through high school, and went to New Mexico State University where I received my Bachelor's Degree in Music, and then moved to Los Angeles, California, where I received my Master's Degree at California Institute of the Arts, where I also learned to play the other brass instruments, as well as composition and arranging.

Throughout my career, I've been able to do some great things with music. I have been able to travel Europe and work with one of the world's finest brass instrument manufacturers, Michael Rath, I have toured Colombia with my University's Wind Ensemble, I've recorded at Capitol Records in Hollywo
od, and have written and premiered numerous works for orchestra and rock ensemble, trombone choirs, and even a duet for quarter tone trumpets!

I have an affinity for modern and avant garde music, but am well-versed in all genres and musical styles! I also like to play in and record rock and roll bands, I've amassed a quite a few years of recording experience as well. From gypsy bands to thrash metal groups, I've recorded a wide array of music.

I also taught in the classroom from grades k-12 for a few years before following my true passion of teaching privately. I love to reach you at your own level and work to grow with you from there.

My goal is simple: I simply want you to come to love music as much as I do, if not more! I strive to give you the tools to become a successful musician in your own right, and I work to keep my lessons fun and engaging.

I feel like I learned a lot in an hour and he really helped me find an anchor point that I can go back to if I am stuck on a note. I realized that he went over every proven method that I learned throughout my experiences from elementary school to highschool and then added on to them by explaining how these methods help. He even showed me methods usually taught to college musicians.

The reason I always believed in private lessons is because no matter how few or how many you take, the learning process gets expedited immensely.

I definitely would recommend this teacher for learning a brass instrument.

Rock, rythm and lead guitar, rock and roll, blues.
Your favorite style and your songs.

About Michele
Guitar has been a love of mine since I was 14, when I first saw someone entertaining people at a party.

I began lessons for myself, at the age of 16. First I learned the basics and rock style music, and then I played and sang in some local Baltimore garage bands and in talent shows.

I went on to major in music in college, at Towson State University, with classical guitar as my concentration.

I began playing out professionally in my 20's, includings bars and restaurants like the Westminster Inn and at Fells Point, festivals like the Owings Mills Festival, weddings and parties.

I love teaching guitar and seeing the student's eyes light up, when things click together to get that favorite riff or favorite song right !

I have 25 + years of teaching experience.
I have taught over 100 students, including teens, adults, pre-
teens, and special needs adults and children.

My approach as a music teacher is to first teach the student to relax and have fun with their instrument. I use backing tracks to help the student feel a beat or groove to a song. This is very important. Theory, technic and ear training are important but useless if the student doesn't first feel and enjoy music. We all sing along and dance to our favorite songs but in many cases, the joy goes away when we begin to actually study music. I don't want to take the joy away. First we have fun. Playing is learning.

About Mitch
Hello everyone. My name is Mitch and I hope to be your music teacher soon! I have been teaching music since 2000, I have a degree in Music Education. Music is undoubtedly my number one passion and teaching it to others is most fulfilling. I have been in various bands and musical productions and I am currently holding the position of Assistant Director of Contemporary Music at the Church in which my family attends. I don't use your lesson time as my "show off time". I expect students to practice daily and attend lessons prepared and ready to build on the previous lesson. I cherish the long term relationships I have with my students, former students and parents. I hope to welcome you into that circle and help you build the skills necessary to color your life with music.

I was getting back into bass playing after a 20 year hiatus. Mitch really helped me get my legs back under me, helped me learn how to break down a song to learn the bass parts, and even got me an audition with a local band. He’s easy going but a really outstanding musician who helped me up my game tremendously. Great teacher!

If you're looking for someone to teach you the nuts and bolts of music theory you might want to look elsewhere, but if you want to learn to play guitar for someone who's played in numerous rock bands on the road and in the studio and leads music every week at a large church, I'm your guy! I have a ton of experience and am eager to help you learn what you want to learn.

About Nathan
I'm a lead vocalist, guitarist, and pianist that has toured in a professional pop punk band and recorded albums. I've been a worship leader at a large church for 5+ years. I currently lead the worship ministry at my church, where I coordinate a large worship team of various instruments.

I play acoustic and electric guitar, and I'm very eager to pass on what I know to students! I've been teaching on a more casual level for years, but I'm new to teaching music professionally. If you're looking for a flexible, honest, and encouraging teacher who has experience playing some of the largest clubs in the country, recording albums with industry professionals, leading worship at large churches, and has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in music, I might be the teacher for you!
