About Michael
I am a guitarist of over 20 years and have played an instrument since I was six years old. I went to college for jazz and classical guitar to expand upon my rock and blues influence. Having first taken piano lessons at six years old, I added tenor saxophone at 10, and guitar at 14. I have 20 years of playing live in a band or for theater work. I believe a musician can learn from all instruments and I try to not just teach guitar, but music.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am disciplined but fun. Music shouldn't have to be a chore. It should be a chance to challenge yourself and see what you might be capable of with a little work.

I use Berklee instructional books and the Guitar Grimoire as a foundation, but try to incorporate what each student listens to.

After six months, a student will be able to play some scales, arpeggios and ch
ords (maybe even a song or two they like.)

*** Studio Equipment ***
Pro Tools 10, Presonus Studio Live 24.4.2, mics, instruments, etc...

*** Travel Equipment ***
I'll provide instrument, music stand and amp if needed.
students will provide instrument and willingness to work and learn.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in jazz using chord voices and walking basslines underneath, but also love playing rock and country. I have read/played Spanish charts and Classical music. Also, I play in various cover bands that utilize blues, pop music and pentatonic scales. In addition, I play theater gigs which allows me to play all styles from jazz to broadway to rock.

all things mandolin

About Spencer
I am originally from Northeast Kansas, where I started playing guitar and studying music at the age of 9.

While studying guitar, I had several influential teachers, including internationally renowned finger-style guitarist, Andy McKee, and University of Montana Professor of Music and Classical Guitar, Dr. Luis Millan.

Later, in my teens, I also began playing the Banjo, Mandolin, accordion, and other various instruments.

While attending college at Washburn University in Topeka, KS, I began teaching private music lessons to students of all ages, and experience levels in Northeast Kansas. During this time, I also recorded and regularly performed with my bluegrass/country/cajun band.

I have experience playing and teaching numerous genres including rock, pop, country, blues, jazz, bluegrass, cajun/zydeco, reggae, classical, folk, e
tc.

I relocated to the Denver, CO area in the spring of 2011 after completion of my degree from Washburn University. I continue to teach private music lessons in the Denver metro area.

*** Lesson Details ***
I create fun / structured lessons plans, according to each students' musical interests and experience level. I believe students should be challenged, but also enjoy what they are practicing. I will make sure that beginning students are able to demonstrate and understand various basic to intermediate concepts of music. My goal is that my students will become well-rounded knowledgeable musicians, and will be able to comfortably play and perform with other experienced musicians. I am an easy-going teacher that will make sure students are learning a wealth of information about music, while having a good time doing it.

*** Studio Equipment ***
doesn't really have a studio but could teach out of his home if student really wanted to go.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide Music Stand, amplifier, chords etc.

I have over 30 years experience as a music teacher. Although guitar is my main instrument, I play several stringed instruments, including mandolin, well enough to teach beginners of ALL ages - children, teens, and adults. I have played mandolin with bluegrass bands, in the past.
Mandolin is a good first instrument for those who have never played a stringed instrument before, and for young children whose hands are not strong enough to play a larger instrument such as a guitar. It is fairly easy to learn, and fun to play.

About Linda
*** Travel Equipment ***
I do not typically provide any equipment - but I am willing to select and purchase books for the students to learn from (cost of books to be reimbursed by the student/parent) when requested to do so.

I am also willing to provide stick-on note-names for the keyboard, for young children.

The students must have their own instruments, and provide a folder for sheet music and notes/instructions.

*** Specialties ***
Guitar, I specialize in the following styles: jazz, rock, blues, folk, bluegrass, and children's songs.
Piano: I prefer electronic keyboard to acoustic piano, but am happy to teach beginning students on a regular piano as well. I teach note-reading, playing by ear, and theory, with en emphasis on rock, pop, and folk music. I include arranging, chord theory, and use of the many features of an elec
tronic keyboard, in the lessons.
Bass Guitar: I teach rock, pop, funk, and country music on bass.
Banjo: I teach bluegrass, country, and some blues and rock music. I can also teach a bit of old-timey frailing/clawhammer style.
English and Reading: I am highly qualified, to tutor/teach English (spoken, written, and reading comprehension) to both native English speakers and to those learning it as a second language.
*** I am particularly good at working with children who have a.d.h.d. and other learning disabilities!

Linda is easily the most patient and welcoming person I've ever worked with. She has incredible knowledge over a vast array of topics and she is eager to share with others. This, in my opinion, is the most important quality of all teachers. Her lessons have proved a great way to build a solid base in my field of interest. as well as providing me with a well rounded and wonderful mentor that I'm sure to rely on for many other lessons in the future- banjo or otherwise!

from basic instrument setup, chords, and techniques to various songs and styles

About Andrew
Andrew is a multi-instrumentalist (guitar, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, backing vocals) who settled in Las Vegas in 2013. After graduating with honors from Musicians Institute in 2008, he wrote a collection of acoustic guitar pieces licensed to The Weather Channel, then spent 5 years working as a show musician and top-40 musician for 3 cruise lines.

Upon arrival in Sin City, Andrew co-founded the local band “Tin Toy Cars” which consists of various Cirque du Soleil musicians from 2 shows. Their debut album entitled "Falling, Rust and Bones" is currently on hundreds of radio stations nationwide and has broken the all-time record for highest new artist debut on the A.M.A. Charts. Look for the album on Spotify, iTunes, Amazon, and CD Baby. In January 2016 the band had feature articles in dozens of newspapers and magazines in Las Vegas,
New York, and Los Angeles, and had many radio interviews scheduled to start the year. Their debut music video was premiered by The Huffington Post in March 2016 along with a feature interview.

Andrew also played the guitar/ukulele/mandolin chair in the pit orchestra for the show "Bright Side" which began in May 2016 and was showcased to pitch to Broadway. It's a musical written by Martin Kaye of "Million Dollar Quartet" (Harrahs Casino) and features a cast made up of performers from "Rock of Ages," "Blue Man Group," "Million Dollar Quartet," and others. The orchestra featured members of "Mystere," "Zarkana," "Vegas The Show," "Ka," and a former musical director for vocalist Andy WIlliams. He closed out 2016 performing in the musicals "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" and "American Idiot" alongside actors and musicians from "Ka," "The Beatles Love," "Million Dollar Quartet," "Blue Man Group," and "Rock of Ages."

Andrew's first 2 years in Las Vegas were also filled with many diverse performing situations up and down The Strip. These included a well-known top 40 and oldies band, a Mo-town tribute show, a country band that headlined the 2015 National Finals Rodeo, and a few others.

Andrew also owns an arranging and publishing company, HLC Publishing, which produces arrangements and sheet music for various Las Vegas performers, and a few cruise ship entertainers. Currently he is creating the guitar book for a new Rod Stewart and Tina Turner co-tribute act that will debut in February 2017, and he will also play guitar and mandolin in the show.

Andrew also teaches weekly lessons and plays Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings at Family Worship Christian Church. During the lessons, Andrew uses the same software as his professionally arranged sheet music, to keep a journal for each student as they learn, and the journal is regularly emailed to the student as a PDF file.

Learn classical, blues, classic rock songs (Note: for beginners, after we have gotten through the blues a little) metal (If you have a locking tremolo, you might have to make adjustments on it to facilitate the lower tunings usually used in metal nowadays but I can definitely help you with that.) I can teach standard mandolin playing such as chords and scales, but I can also teach reading mandolin classically. We can learn mandolin in whatever style you like, and work on any songs you're interested in. If you don't have any specifications, don't fret! I have a curriculum planned with everything from traditional mandolin songs to playing movie theme melodies.

About Ian
Hi, I'm Ian, a 23 year old music major who just completed his B.A. At Hunter College. I try and play as many instruments as possible to expand my musical repertoire, but I am the most well versed in violin and guitar. I've been playing violin for 14 years and guitar for 9. I am involved in a number of musical projects and bands including my own, Cicero & the Orations. I also have a good knowledge of theory and have taken all but two of Hunters offered theory classes. I am currently a lessons instructor at a corporate site but I am always looking to teach music, since it's what I want to do with my life. I am quite patient with students and am always looking to take as much time as is needed for the student to learn whatever will better them.

Ian's patience and knowledge of many types of music is awesome! He takes a very empathetic approach to teaching; he tailors what knowledge he shares and what instructional techniques he employs based on my learning style and past experiences. If your looking for a kind, down to earth teacher who's not elitist when it comes to teaching anything from classical violin to rock guitar, Ian's the guy.

Over the years, I've had the privilege of performing on stage with such artists as Flinner, Casey Driessen, Julian Lage, Mike Marshall, Missy Raines, David Grier, Darrell Scott, Tim O'Brien, and Tommy Emmanuel. I now live in Boston, playing full time with the bluegrass band Mile Twelve, and making weekly Mandolin Monday videos.
