I teach beginner bassoon. I can help students learn to read music, play with good tone and technique, learn fingerings, and play from a book or school band music.

About Tina
I've been teaching private lessons for over 15 years. I am a high school music teacher/band director and a freelance musician. I'm looking forward to making music with you!

Your lessons are up to you! If you know what you want to learn, I'll help get you there. If you don't know where to start, I can lead you through the fundamentals and help you set goals.

I like to keep things positive in music lessons. Music is, after all, for fun and enjoyment! I like to blend teaching technique and musicianship, while keeping things fun.

If you're a beginner, we'll get started with all the fundamentals you need to begin making music. If you've been playing for a while, I'll help you perfect things you've been working on, expand your musical experience, and help you reach your fullest potential as a musician.

My home studio has chairs, mus
ic stand, and areas for parents to sit in on lessons. Garage band is available for recording. Students need an instrument and books.

I can help beginning students on bassoon learn the basics.

About Thomas
Thomas J. W. is an active music teacher, composer, adjudicator, and clinician in the greater Philadelphia area. He has over fifteen years experience as a concert band director, marching band director, jazz improvisation instructor, choral director, private instructor, and marching drill writer. His directing career has included small rural band programs, small metro programs, large high-achieving suburban programs, and non-profit youth bands. In addition to his band compositions, he also has over forty unpublished vocal arrangements to his credit, most written for use with collegiate men's a cappella groups. Thomas taught over 600 online and local private music lessons in 2016.

Thomas has a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from The Pennsylvania State University. He holds a teaching certificate in the states of Pennsylvania
and New Jersey and has taught at the secondary level in both states. In addition to both instrumental and choral ensembles at Penn State, Thomas was a student leader in the Penn State Blue Band and a member of the brass section of the Cadets of Bergen County Drum and Bugle Corps in 1993 and 1994. He served as an Associate Director of the Warren Junior Military Band of Youngstown, Ohio from 1995 to 2005. He also served as a visual staff member for the renowned North Penn Marching Knights of Lansdale, PA for one season in 2004.

He is a current adjudicator with Drum Corps International and Cavalcade of Bands. He is a member of MENC, PMEA, NJMEA, ASCAP, CASA, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and the National Band Association. He appeared in the Marquis Who's Who Among American Educators in 2004 and 2005, an honor rarely bestowed upon teachers, as students who appear in the Who's Who Among American High School Students must nominate them. He currently is a music teacher at the Center for Performing and Fine Arts of the PA Leadership Charter School in West Chester, PA and resides in Downingtown, PA with his wife and two sons.

Thomas will happily work with students on the autism spectrum or students with ADD.

*** Lesson Details ***
My lessons are tailored to the needs and interests of each student. If a student is involved in school music ensembles, we will work with their lesson books from school in addition to material outside of the books, including SmartMusic, Noteflight, and teacher-created materials. We will focus on building proper tone production and individual technique - something that often is difficult to learn in a large ensemble setting.

I am capable of starting a beginner student on any band instrument including percussion, any classical string instrument (violin, viola, cello, string bass), and piano. I can begin a student on drum set and work with them through their first method book, but I would then recommend they find a specialized drum set teacher after a period of six to twelve months.

For advanced students, I work from selected conservatory etude books on developing advanced skills and can work with students on audition pieces for honors bands/orchestras or college auditions.

My lessons are a half-hour once a week, with the option of working for 45 minutes or 60 minutes.

*** Specialties ***
music, band, orchestra, flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, saxophone, trumpet, french horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, violin, viola, cello, string bass, piano, Percussion

Bassoon is based on a simple set of rules and techniques that must be learned and applied. I'm a professional teacher with a unique ability to perceive what students understand and how they understand, which I use to efficiently build students' knowledge, saving them both time and money.

About Joshua
I am a tutor who earned a music teaching degree, substitute taught, and didn't become a school teacher. I held professional tech retail jobs and am supplementing my life with my passion - education.

Whatever subject or instrument I teach, I celebrate students' successes; and I enjoy helping learners have new aha moments.

The majority of my students take guitar, bass guitar, or Spanish lessons. I am an educator and help my students learn other skills and knowledge sets too.

I went to Ohio State University for college, earned a BA in Music Education, and graduated Cum Laude. I also spent 4 years in the Ohio State University Marching Band.

Through my healing journey, I've developed patience, insight, and understanding for my students' learning processes.

I'm excited to help you incorporate new skills into your life!

In search of helping our 10 year old son build some self-confidence we sought out clarinet lessons this summer. He started playing in school last year, and it was something our reluctant son liked "enough" to want to build up some competency. Joshua has been amazing! He finds just the right amount of challenge to encourage my son to practice, but not get discouraged. My son looks forward to his lesson each week and told me that he isn't even sure he wants to switch to saxophone next year because he is having so much fun playing the clarinet. Joshua is amazing with children, and has spent time getting to know our kiddo and find out what will work best for him. Patient, calm, and inspiring--very talented instructor.

I will teach you not only about how to play, but what to expect - it is a hard insturment to earn technical ability, talk about reeds and as you advance, maybe even make some. The instrument is unique so I believe must be able to demonstrate your unique personality.

About Diane
I continue to learn and improve my teaching by attending workshops, conferences, and be involved in music teacher groups. These are both in person, social media, and podcasts. I believe it is important to play your instrument if you teach it. My BM degree from UW-Stevens Point taught me how music is important in so many parts of life. My family of 6, includes 3 sons and 1 daughter. My youngest is a sophomore at Thomas Jefferson.

I ask that you have a well maintained instrument before signing up for lessons. ie. an acoustic piano or keyboard that has minimum 76 keys, 88 is PREFERABLE, keys need to be weighted/touch sensitive. You can ask me where are apropriate places to rent or buy a piano.

I have some supplies, materials, access to music website and books which you would then reimburse me. It is non-refundable, You may g
et lesson books from and reimburse me for costs, no tax.

Lesson content depends on the individual student, as I structure our time together depending on individual needs. Lessons can be relaxed or fast-paced, depending on what you desire to get from them.
All lessons include some combination of warm-up, scales and basic exercises, and solo literature appropriate to level. For more advanced students, we will discuss basic theory and ear training.

About Alyssa
Hi there!

I am a supportive and encouraging teacher willing to teach all ages and abilities. It is my firm belief that music is for everyone.

I am currently pursuing my M.M. from Longy School of Music. I completed my undergraduate work at Rhode Island College, where I studied oboe and bassoon privately. I am currently on the private lesson roster for two public schools in the area, and teach both double-reeded instruments. I have successfully helped young students prepare for and audition into district level ensembles.

I have reed-making experience and can assist students with finicky reeds, to help ease the most frustrating part about playing oboe & bassoon.

I'm looking forward to working with you!

Being a professional bassoonist in the Tucson and Phoenix Communities, I bring a wonderful range of expertise to any student. In lessons, we work on bassoon fundamentals: technique, tone, and reed-making.

What is exceptional about lessons with me is that I make all of my reeds from scratch: from the tubes! I will teach you how to make reeds this way and how to fine tune your reeds.

I also play the contrabassoon, which is a very rare find in a bassoon teacher. I am willing to teach bassoon and contrabassoon lessons.

I have several incentives in my studio: loyalty rewards, free reeds, and extended lessons.

Because I understand the overall expense of being a bassoonist, I also sell my professionally finished bassoon reeds at a discount to all my students.

I look forward to hearing from you!

About Jessica
I started playing the clarinet in 6th grade. I soon realized that I was a decent musician, but the clarinet just wasn't fulfilling... then I saw it. The BASSOON. I fell in love with this instrument. So much so, that I have two degrees and professionally play in Arizona! I currently play in the Tucson Symphony, Arizona Opera, True Concord Voices and Orchestra (Grammy-nominated), and Broadway in Tucson.

I have had my own bassoon studio since 2002. I started in Florida and moved out here to begin my doctorate in bassoon performance. I am originally from Columbus, GA, where I received my Bachelor's in Music Performance degree. I then went to Florida State University and completed my Master's of Music Performance degree after being a full-time teaching assistant.

I have been making my own bassoon reeds from scratch since 1996 and continue to
research and hone my craft. I have a professional reed-making business through Etsy and eBay, and soon to be (unofficially) bassoon/oboe websites.

Being a crafty person, I am also trying to develop my own silk bassoon swabs and bassoon-wrapped pencils! When I am not doing that, I make my own jewelry to give to friends and family.

Studying bassoon with me won't only involve an in-depth, technical look at playing bassoon, but you'll also find an immersive experience into the world of classical music.

About Emily
I have been playing/totally nerding out about the bassoon since I was twelve years old. It is a world I have been in love with since, and I am absolutely thrilled at the opportunity to share the same experience I've had with people of all ages.

I'm currently a freelance musician working with professional orchestras and opera and theatre companies based in Central Illinois and Eastern Michigan. My Bachelor of Music is in Bassoon Performance from Illinois Wesleyan University, and I hold the Master of Music degree in Bassoon Performance from the University of Michigan.

I am passionate about chamber and new music. I have played in several chamber music groups, some of them being very experimental, often employing the use of interactive lighting for the hearing impaired. In 2016, I spent a month in Kyustendil, Bulgaria playing in grou
ps coached by members of the Bulgarian Radio Symphony. I thoroughly enjoy the opportunity working with other musicians to provide new experiences to all.
