Oboe:
A family of double reed woodwind musical instruments, they are usually made of wood, but there are also oboes made of synthetic materials. The Oboe is commonly used in concert bands, orchestras, chamber music, film music, in some genres of folk music, and as a solo instrument, and is occasionally heard in jazz, rock music, pop music, and popular music. I will begin by teaching the basics of breath control, apeture, fingering, the reed, notes, rhythms, reading, songs, theory, and soloing.

My lessons are a great way to learn to play the oboe, be ready to perform and work towards your musical goals. Each student has different instructional needs to grow into the best musician they can be. I enjoy working with beginners as well as advanced students preparing for auditions and competitions. Lessons are a balance between fundamentals, pieces, etudes and having fun. Students get to learn standard repertoire as well as fun pieces like Frozen and Harry Potter!  Lessons allow me to touch up reeds from week to week to ensure they play well and last as long as possible. Learning any instrument can be difficult but with lessons it can be fun!

I hold a Master's Degree in Oboe Performance from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University, Long Beach. During my studies I studied with Carolyn Hove and Humbert Lucarelli.

My name is Aliya and I live and breathe the oboe. Before I continue with my story, I want to let you know that the joy of music making is precious and magical. And it is my dream and passion to help you discover your talent and goals.

I completed my Master’s degree at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

I am currently an oboe teacher at Kazan State Conservatoire. Prior to working at Conservatoire , I was a freelance musician and performed more than 75 concertos. as a soloist.

I will help you to work on your oboe sound, technique, articulation and pitch.

The oboe is an amazing instrument! The oboe is unique because it uses a double reed. I am so excited to teach you more about the oboe. I am an interactive teacher who can assist you in many ways in regards to learning how to play the oboe including; correct posture, new breathing techniques, correct fingerings, alternative fingerings, half-hole technique, improved sight-reading skills, greater music theory knowledge, and performance skills. I recommend using the Essential Elements for Band book series. Once we connect and I can find out more about your playing level we can find the perfect book for your. Danielle K. is an aspiring performer and Music Educator. She holds degrees in both Music Education and Performance from Gordon College Masters of Oboe Performance from Boston University.

She began her career as an oboist with the Warwick Symphony Orchestra in 2011 and a year later became a member of the Ocean State Summer Pops Orchestra, where she now sits Principal. This Pops Orchestra occasionally features Ms. K. in small works such as “Gabriels Oboe” and larger scale concerti.
Since at Boston University she played with the Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra, Danielle has played with various ensembles including the Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra. She continues to play with these ensembles as well as Brandeis University, and Wellesley College Orchestra where she serves as a mentor to the wind students.
