Lee is an accomplished bassoonist who specializes in working with new and developing bassoon players. Lee can direct students to the best bassoon reeds and accessories, as well as offer the best advice on starting and improving skills on bassoon. 

Lee uses the New Weissenborn Method books and offers a digitized library of elementary solo pieces, standard bassoon literature and orchestral excerpts.

Lee received a Master of Music degree in Bassoon Pedagogy (Belmont University) and graduated from Loyola University New Orleans (Bachelor of Music Education), where she performed as principal bassoonist for both orchestras.

Lee also graduated from the U.S. Armed Forces School of Music and served as a Bassoon Player in the U.S. Army with the 1st Cavalry Division Band. She currently performs with several orchestras and bands in the Los Angeles area.

I'm engaged with the process of teaching bassoon students from the beginner level up to the advanced level. I make sure to make them aware of the importance of proper cleaning and care for their bassoons. I'm a patient teacher and know that everyone learns differently and at different speeds. I like to play duets with the students to make the lessons fun. I'm knowledgeable about bassoon solo pieces and orchestral repertoire and am able to help to help students prepare for solo contests. I emphasize the development of technique through slow scales and gradually expand the range. I'm able to add a little humor in the lessons to make the lessons fun. I view myself as a student in the process of teaching, too. I'm also engaged with teaching students proper embouchure, breath support and talk to them about reeds and am able to teach them reed making and adjustment as they become more advanced. Bassoon:
A woodwind instrument in the double reed family that typically plays music written in the bass and tenor clefs, and occasionally the treble. Appearing in its modern form in the 19th century, the bassoon figures prominently in orchestral, concert band, and chamber music literature. The bassoon is a non-transposing instrument known for its distinctive tone colour, wide range, variety of character and agility. Listeners often compare its warm, dark, reedy timbre to that of a male baritone voice. Someone who plays the bassoon is called a bassoonist. The lessons will consist of breathing and finger techniques, learning notes and rhythms and how to read. Very quickly songs will be incorporated and as the student progresses we will work on learning scales and how to solo.

I started learning bassoon in 2009 and it has quickly become an obsession of mine :)

Beginners: posture, breathing techniques, embouchure, sound production, articulation, phrasing, note reading
Intermediate: interpretation of different styles, dynamics, ensemble performance, building solid technique and stamina
Advanced: studying of orchestra excerpts, solo pieces, study of various concert and chamber music compositions
