Lesson content depends on the individual student, as I structure our time together depending on individual needs. Lessons can be relaxed or fast-paced, depending on what you desire to get from them.
All lessons include some combination of warm-up, scales and basic exercises, and solo literature appropriate to level. For more advanced students, we will discuss basic theory and ear training.

My daughter has enjoyed her lessons. Alyssa has recognized and gently corrected many of the bad habits that she has picked up in band. I noticed a dramatic improvement after just a few lessons.

Mr Yakov is very pleasant, patient and professional. He makes learning fun. One of my daughters is very shy and particular. I was concerned for her first violin. But she ended up loving the lesson and the instructor. We did some lessons online and at his studio. During the online lesson, the connection with our internet was horrible. He could hear her playing but she couldn't hear him. Yet, patiently, he got creative and taught the lesson with my daughter through chat. The environment of the studio is comfortable. You can tell he's passionate about what he does. That left me with a great impression of him. We look forward to more lessons with him for as long as we can.
Thanks Mr Yakov!!!

Thomas is honestly an amazing musician and teacher. He was really patient with me. Despite having to deal with major timezone differences (as I live in Myanmar), he took the time to figure it out. Also, he helped me figure out the stuff it took me months to figure out. He also really knows what he's doing. I learned so much in that hour of practice. 10/10 would recommend him.

"My son has been taking lessons from Kristilyn for about 6 months now and she has been amazing. My 16 year old is always over scheduled and Kristilyn has been more than willing to work around his schedule when the need has arisen. She has also helped him choose appropriate music for several auditions and practice for the auditions. She has stretched his limits on the bassoon with out frustrating him. We highly recommend Kristilyn as an instructor."

"I was impressed after one lesson - clear, concise explanations, attention to how I learn (visual, memorization, or through physical learning) so that lessons and instructions could be tailored to my learning style. Encouraging, energetic and profesional. I couldn't be more excited to have her as a teacher and suddenly this all seems a lot less anxiety-inducing and far more enjoyable. Totally banished the bad memories of grade-school music classes, which put me off learning an instrument for many decades."

It help him understand about the instrument and the sound when he play. He do have a sense of humor which help my son to have fun and be more comfortable. He also teaches other instruments, too. "Kristilyn is a great instructor. She has helped my daughter get back to playing bassoon for high school band after a one year hiatus, and she is doing great! The one on one instruction and ability to do the lessons from home make things super flexible for our busy family. I wasn't sure at first how the online lessons would work, or if it would be as effective as meeting with someone in person, but the lessons have definitely exceeded my expectations!"
