About Spencer
I am originally from Northeast Kansas, where I started playing guitar and studying music at the age of 9.

While studying guitar, I had several influential teachers, including internationally renowned finger-style guitarist, Andy McKee, and University of Montana Professor of Music and Classical Guitar, Dr. Luis Millan.

Later, in my teens, I also began playing the Banjo, Mandolin, accordion, and other various instruments.

While attending college at Washburn University in Topeka, KS, I began teaching private music lessons to students of all ages, and experience levels in Northeast Kansas. During this time, I also recorded and regularly performed with my bluegrass/country/cajun band.

I have experience playing and teaching numerous genres including rock, pop, country, blues, jazz, bluegrass, cajun/zydeco, reggae, classical, folk, e
tc.

I relocated to the Denver, CO area in the spring of 2011 after completion of my degree from Washburn University. I continue to teach private music lessons in the Denver metro area.

Grey hung in there even with all my connection problems. Then he taught me accordian information that I had been thinking about, but never knew the answer to before, because I have been out of the picture for so long. It was just the right timing from my 5 previous lessons. I am looking forward to my next lesson. I just need to get in enough practice time. My learning curve is in my hands now. Until the next lesson.
Thanks Grey

My name is Al Philipp, used to serve in ministry with Grey and what an awesome gift God has given him in music. Grey would play all kinds of music and my favorites were the old hymns and the contemporary Christian music, but when he broke out the polka music it would get your heart pumpin and your feet jumpin. Yes Grey is very good with the accordion with a great personality to go along with his teaching ability. I highly recommend Grey if you are wanting to learn this instrument.

Accordion is one of my truest loves. I've been a musician as long as I can remember. I've been playing traditional Irish accordion for 6 years and have had 5 very talented teachers myself. I can apply my performance and teaching techniques to piano or button accordion. I've also played concert piano accordion for 6 years, and can teach the fundamentals of accordion playing, advanced technique and style for accordion, basic to advanced music theory, and general performance and practice techniques. I have several accordions that can be rented as well.

About Connor
I'm a film composer by trade, but I love teaching as well. I love sharing my passion for music with others. I have a BM from Appalachian State University in piano performance and music theory/composition. I also have an MFA in music composition for the screen from Columbia College Chicago. I studied abroad in Ireland for a summer and learned traditional Irish music. I've been playing piano and composing since I was a young child, and picked up folk instruments along the way. Folk music has been a constant source of joy in my life, and I am continually learning more about it. Music is what gets me out of bed in the morning!

First lesson couldn't be better! Connor was totally patient with my kiddo, and she gave good advice on what to look for in a smaller accordion and variations in shoulder straps to help my tiny daughter not get tired from trying to hold up a big (at least for her) accordion.

I'm excited about introducing the accordion to beginning students. I use a basic popular lesson format, while also gearing supplementary material to the interest of the student. Explore with me the wonders of the accordion!

About Kathy
I have loved and played the accordion my entire life. I am largely self taught, but in recent years have studied with internationally known accordion performer and instructor Beverly Fess. She has introduced me to the many shades of accordion. I play for personal enjoyment, and also enjoy performing solo and with area dance bands.

I am new at teaching accordion, but I have taught in other areas through the years. I would like to teach beginning students of all ages. No thrill is greater than learning to play an instrument, and the accordion is an exciting way to start as well as an intriguing new idea for people already enjoying music performance.

I would also love to work with people who have had accordion experience in years past and would like to develop or refresh skills.

I am a novice accordionist. I have more enthusiasm than skills. Kathy is great at helping me improve.

She is not a routinised teaching machine. She's a skilled player, who makes time to share her talent, experience and enthusiasm. She never loses track of, and reminds me, this is all about having fun.

Yet she realizes that it's not fun unless your making progress. She's organized and takes responsibility to keep things moving. Our lessons, the schedule, my skills, even my wavering enthusiasm. She's warm, understanding, forgiving and steady. She's an excellent guide through what for me is new territory.

I especially appreciate how empathetic she is. She understands my struggles, remembering her own. She offers a helping hand to enable me to make the next step. Without being patronizing or impatient.

For me she's the right balance of insistent and supportive.

I tailor the lessons to the students' individual goals and preferences, balancing music that you like, technique, exploring different genres, improvising, rhythmical concepts and theory.
I enjoy getting my students excited about the accordion!

About Jan
I am professional accordion and keyboard player from Cologne, Germany, now based in Austin, Texas.

I began playing the accordion at the age of seven and was immediately fascinated by the variety of the instrument. I found my musical orientation playing Blues, Jazz, Country and World Music. I played across Europe and appeared on national television.
After moving to Austin, I obtained a degree in Jazz Performance and Composition. Since then I have been working as a professional accordionist, keyboard player, teacher and composer.
I work with several bands including Ulrich Ellison & Tribe with whom I won the 2015 Austin Music Awards for Best Blues Band. Other bands, ‚ÄčI work with are: Nakia and The Blues Grifters, Grupo Massa, Seu Jacinto, The Gritones, and Macaxeira Funk. In 2016 I received the Austin Music Awards in the category Bes

I am intrigued by the diversity of the accordion and want to show that it has its home and many genres.
