Bongos are a great way for young students, even young children 4 or 5 years old, to develop coordination and strong sense of rhythm. I've played drums and percussion for over 15 years, in many different bands, styles, and genres. I studied music (classical guitar) at University of Central Florida and I've picked up many other instruments since. I love teaching instruments to students young and old.

About Gio
I studied music at UCF (Orlando), focusing on classical and jazz guitar, but I also have years of experience playing rock, blues, folk, hip-hop, and musical theater on both guitar and drums.

I have been teaching guitar, drums, and piano for about eight years to students of all ages. Music is what I'm passionate about and it's what I enjoy. I want to inspire that same passion into the hearts and minds of others.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am a laid-back teacher, fun, and I focus on the needs, abilities, and ambitions of the student. In turn, students must realize that learning an instrument takes a lot of work and dedication. One can't expect to learn very much if s/he only practices or thinks about the instrument during the lesson. If the student is willing to put some time into practicing, then I will help them go far!

*** Studi
o Equipment ***
I have several guitars, a drum kit, djembe, mandolin, clarinet and full-size keyboard.

*** Specialties ***
Guitar: Classical, jazz, American or Irish folk, rock and pop; lead or rhythm.
Drums & Percussion: All genres
Piano: Classical (includes sight reading)

Bongo lessons

About Brian
I'm a 32 year old professional musician who has been playing drums and percussion for the last 18 years. I've taught for a respected music studio in Connecticut and I continue to teach here in Los Angeles. I have played in numerous bands and toured the United States, Europe and Central America. The styles I teach are Rock, Jazz, Latin, R&B/Hip-Hop, Funk/Soul, Reggae, Folk/Indie, Metal/Hardcore and World Rhythms.

I teach drum-set and various types of hand percussion such as bongos, djembe, darbuka/doumbek and congas.

*** Lesson Details ***
I've always thought that learning should be fun. I consistently try to bring a creative and laid-back approach to teaching drums. After the first lesson most students realize that I don't take myself too seriously. Sometimes certain techniques or exercises can be tiresome or even boring. When this
occurs, I switch gears and move on to something else. In my opinion, if a student is getting very frustrated it is generally best to relax and try a different exercise or beat. If we can't enjoy ourselves then what is the point?!

*** Equipment ***
I expect a student to have at least a pair of sticks and a pad. Eventually they will need a metronome for practicing and if they are serious a drum-set at some point. If you'd like to learn hand percussion I recommend having a hand drum of some kind.

*** Specialties ***
The styles I teach are Rock, Jazz, Latin, R&B/Hip-Hop, Funk/Soul, Reggae, Folk/Indie, Metal/Hardcore and World Rhythms. I teach from the heart and develop a natural feel for my students. I also use multiple books mixed into my teaching.

Quality drum teacher. I took lessons with Brian for about a year and his teaching style is relaxed compared to other drummers I studied with. I never felt rushed with the exercises, we always went at my pace. I recommend this teacher.

Ultimately, my goal is to make sure you enjoy yourself and want to keep coming back. In t
hat process I will make sure you get results.

1) If you are located in Orange County, all lessons will be at my studio in Santa Ana.

2.) If you are located in the Southbay or West LA, I will come to your house for lessons.

I teach lessons to any grade/age group. I have an extremely open mind to teaching and music in general, so nothing goes out the door in terms of philosophy, however, I've come to realize that some methods work better than others. That said, I tailor my attention and focus as an educator to the needs of student I'm teaching in front of me. I don't consider the student who just walked out of the lesson or the student who is coming in next. I put my all in the student who is in front of me because I believe time is an essential asset to lessons. Also, every case is so uniquely different in terms of students and I take a good amount of time to calibrate the learning style of every student.

About Matt
I am passionate instructor who is fueled by seeing success in others. No other feeling is more fulfilling then seeing the growth of another human.

I have been teaching private lessons in my own studio for about 8 years now. I've taught 7 marching bands and currently writing music for some with an emphasis in percussion.

Currently pursuing a degree in Music Business at Northern Illinois University. I've participated in Drum Corp. tours such as Colts Drum & Bugle Corps ('13) and Phantom Regiment ('14-'16), and also marched 5 seasons of WGI with Cavaliers Indoor Percussion.

The drums are the backbone of most music, so you have to be able to feel the groove and stay tight and on top of the beat. I encourage students to pick their favorite songs, and we drum to those while learning proper technique, rudiments, song form, fills, rhythm, different grooves / beats, and anything they want to know about the drums. I have been playing the drums for over sixteen years and have a Bachelor's Degree in Music from the Berklee College of Music. Drums is a beautiful art and form of expression and is just the tip of the iceberg we can tackle called Music.

About Eric
MUSIC!
I think music is the most beautiful thing in the world, so lets take time to learn and play music together.
I have been playing the drums for over sixteen years, and been in over fifteen bands in the course of that time. I have a degree in Music from the Berklee College of Music were I studied music theory and focused on Music Production and Engineering. I have been playing Piano, Bass, and Guitar for about ten years in addition to the drums, and have been recorded in sessions on each. I have a deep passion for synthesizers and electronic music, so lets make some bleeps and bloops together.

I am extremely kind, friendly, and funny so lessons with me are very relaxed and have an easy to learn environment. However I am very passionate about teaching to fit student needs; so if a student likes deadlines and homework, if that is w
hat will help them learn the best, then that is how I will teach.
Lets make some sweet music together!!

As an educator, I strive to provide my students with the tools that they will need to explore the direction that they want to take with their instrument. This can include from enjoying drumming as a hobby, performing in small jazz ensembles, recording electronic and acoustic drums in major recording studios, to performing with a full orchestra! There is literally no limit to what you can do.

My focus is to get hobbyists to enjoy performing drums in the comfort of their own home or with friends, and to have my professionally-minded students go out into the world of performing and recording music. All of these environments are where the ultimate joy of playing an instrument can be expressed.

As a gigging and studio musicians, I understand what it takes to get to the stage or studio, apply oneself in that environment, and come away with a satisfying experience that you can then build upon for the rest of your life.

About James
Hi! I have been a drumset educator for over 3 decades. I benefited from formal education on the drumset, and I want to pass that along to you so you can experience the full joy that this wonderful instrument can bring you! I understand that each student's journey is specific to them as an individual. As such I tailor my teaching to the direction that they want to go with drumming.

Jim has been a fantastic teacher to our son. He explains everything patiently and approaches his lessons very systematically. He selects songs that incorporate essential drumming skills (e.g. songs that include doubles, paradiddles, accented notes, etc.). This way, the the student is able to develop an understanding of how theory fits practice.

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced musician, I can offer an enjoyable and rewarding experience! I have two decades experience teaching percussion and my most recent appointments include:
2016-18: Visiting Assistant Professor of Percussion, University of Wyoming
2012-16: Lecturer, University of Colorado-Denver
2012-18: Practicing Artist, Denver School of the Arts

I offer lessons (live and synchronous online) from my studio in Longmont, CO as well as in-home lessons in surrounding communities.

About Ed
I'm a percussionist, composer and educator. I hold a Masters degree in Jazz Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Colorado-Boulder and a Bachelor of Music Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.

From 2016-2018, I was the Visiting Assistant Professor of Percussion at the University of Wyoming (UW). At UW, I oversaw all facets of the percussion area including teaching all applied percussion students, percussion ensemble, percussion methods and jazz ensemble. Before UW, I taught percussion, music theory, ear training and jazz improvisation at the University of Colorado-Denver. and the Denver School of the Arts (DSA).

I've also had the good fortune to perform with many musical luminaries including: Phil Woods, Terell Stafford, Joel Frahm, Bob Reynolds, Andy Laverne, Jon Faddis, the Louisvil
le Symphony, the CCM Philharmonia, Michael Rodriguez, Von Freeman, David “Fathead” Newman and Greg Osby.

My goal as a teacher is to maintain the enthusiasm students enjoy when they begin drum lessons. Every student hopes that beginning drum lessons is the start of an exhilarating and rewarding experience. I sustain this interest by empowering students’ musical improvement and achievement.

Lessons are structured around 8-16 week performance projects and feature a unique teaching method that maximizes each student’s musical capabilities. My approach utilizes video instruction and communication to enhance the traditional lesson format. I also integrate and utilize parents of younger beginning students (8-12) into the lesson curriculum. These methods optimize the student’s practice time between lessons and translate to student success!

Ed, I would like to thank you, and commend you for the dedication and superior training you provided to my son, Sterling. Sterling joined your studio young and lacking confidence in his drumming. You had great enthusiasm to keep him inspired and motivated yet, held him accountable to reach your expectations. He gained incredible strides working with you in all aspects of percussion!!! Also, you were a strong, respected leader resident teaching the students at The Denver School of the Arts. I would highly refer you to anyone seeking a quality, talented and over all good person who truly cares about his students to join your drumming studio.

Are you looking for a personalized lessons with a supportive and encouraging teacher? I have over 10 years of experience teaching drums and percussion, and my aim as is to help my students reach their music goals while having fun. I love teaching, and I've also been performing and composing music for over 20 years, in various styles of music and in many different settings.

My students vary in age, music experience, learning and physical ability, identity and life experience. I don't subscribe to the idea that anyone can " "too ____" to play music. Rather, I welcome all who are excited about playing and ready to challenge themselves while having a good time doing it : )

My approach to teaching is context-based and performance-oriented. This means that we use the context of actual songs and other music to learn the ins and outs of playing the instrument. And we work towards being able to play just like you would if you were performing for an audience. This way, whether you decide to

About Corey
Hi, Corey here. I've been teaching private music lessons since 1996, and I'm available for online lessons. I focus on helping students have fun and express themselves, understand the foundational aspects of playing their instrument, and develop the ability to be self-directed in their own music education.

I began studying music at a young age, as my mother is a trained music educator. I attended Swarthmore College where I earned a degree in Psychology. And I've studied (and actively perform/teach) a wide variety of music styles. Most recently, served as the senior drum instructor at School of Rock Philadelphia, from 2012 to 2018.

I welcome and affirm people of diverse identities and life experiences. As a lover of music and veteran performer/music educator, I consider it a special privilege to teach music. And I cherish helping bo
th new and continuing students have fun and achieve their goals.

My teaching style is very engaging and conversational. I use contextual examples from music and life in general to inform how students understand their relationship with their instrument. I strive for lessons that are fun, informative and effective!
