Private Accordion Teacher

Music college graduate, with plenty of experience in real-world musical settings and five years of teaching experience. When it comes to teaching I have plenty of patience and no judgment!
My goal is to help you define realistic goals and then, how to obtain them. If you are unsure of what your goals are, that's okay too. We can cover the basics and in time, find out what your musical interests are. However, I expect my students to work towards improving their skills by practicing a little each day, or as I like to say students need to be hitting the woodshed.
My lessons are tailored toward each student's goals but I always include certain topics. The core of my teaching involves a clear understanding of rhythm, scales, chords, and music notation. In addition, I enjoy music theory and always work it into my lesson. Personally, knowing the form and function, or the why of song structure is important for musicians to understand.
In addition to theory, we will work on ...

Just judging off our first lesson, it was great! I was really nervous because I haven’t tried to learn to play an instrument in over a decade, but I really enjoyed the lesson with Andrew and I’m looking forward to continuing.

I've been taking lessons from Andrew for almost 2 years now. He's a great teacher; he's patient, encouraging and accommodating. He builds a strong foundation for playing and understanding music by focusing on the fundamentals first and foremost. I highly recommend him as a teacher!

I came to Andrew as an intermediate-to-advanced level pianist looking to learn jazz piano. Andrew does a great job pacing his lessons to push new ideas and techniques without being overwhelming. He will also relate the techniques he teaches to how he plays in real life, which is extremely helpful. Andrew is very easy to get along with and is also very responsive between lessons. I'd recommend him for any skill level

I play the piano accordion. I can not teach the various other types of accordion. We can learn anything from Classical to Honky Tonk! I mix sight-reading with theory to teach a variety of styles. I use a metronome and fun recordings to play along with!

About Mary

I started playing saxophone in 1994. It was an immediate passion! As the years went on my thirst for music grew and I picked up more instruments. I earned my Bachelor’s of Arts in Music from UW-Milwaukee in 2006. I continued to study privately on Saxophone with Curt Hanrahan and on Accordion with

Why do so many people laugh when you say "accordion"!? Let's show them different! This instrument absolutely ROCKS!!! It is one of the most expressive, international, fun, and emotional instruments out there! So much more than just "polkas": Argentinian tangos, German beer songs, French cafe, Irish Celtic music, Russian folk, Italian melodic, and the list goes on... Bottom line: I love this instrument because it is FUN and VERY "produceable". Half of it is an arsenal of buttons while the other half is a good 'ol piano keyboard, and depending on which model you have, there are many tonal buttons to thoroughly change its personality -- no electricity needed!

No sight-reading required!

All ages welcome!

I can teach you how to create some fun and inspired music on it regardless of your musical tastes, as long as you have a PIANO ACCORDION -- not JUST buttons like a bayan or concertina (sorry -- at this time, please note that I do NOT teach chromatic/diatonic button accordion or ...

Mark V has been “Specializing In Melody” since the age of 5 when he discovered his natural ability to play and create catchy tunes by teaching himself the harmonica by ear. He went on to learn the accordion at 10, the piano at 12, MIDI and synthesizers at 15, the guitar at 30, and a long list o

Mark has been awesome. I came into the lessons knowing nothing about the accordion. He is able to break it down into something easy to understand for me. Learning a song already! I am super happy to be learning from Mark.
John J Conlon
Mark has a set system for imparting musical knowledge regarding the accordion, but he allowed me to interrupt his lesson so that I could make sure that I was getting what he was attempting to impart to the unskilled listener.

I have been provided with a few concepts to practice, in anticipation of our next session. He has a great deal of confidence that I will get it-------hopefully he is more right about this than I am. Yet, this is only lesson two and I have set up this new learning experience so that I am only chewing on small bits of the new learning materials a time. John Conlon

Mark is very knowledgeable regarding the Accordion-----knows it like the back of his hand. He helped me identify a problem with the accordion that I purchased, as used musical instrument, giving me ideas on how to address the problem with the seller. I personally like the man and expect him to be a very good teacher.

Private Accordion Teacher

Accordion is one of my truest loves. I've been a musician as long as I can remember. I've been playing traditional Irish accordion for10 years and have had 5 very talented teachers myself. I can apply my performance and teaching techniques to piano or button accordion. I've also played concert piano accordion for 12 years, and can teach the fundamentals of accordion playing, advanced technique and style for accordion, basic to advanced music theory, and general performance and practice techniques. We will do a mixture of ear training and sheet music reading (don't be scared!). I always cater to the individual as well to make the lessons more personalized.

About Connor

I'm a film composer by trade, but I love teaching as well. I love sharing my passion for music with others. I have a BM from Appalachian State University in piano performance and music theory/composition. I also have an MFA in music composition for the screen from Columbia College Chicago. I stu
