I tailor my lessons to the needs and interests of my learners. Lessons will be interactive, fun, non-intimidating, accommodating, and goal-oriented. Learners will progress in each lesson and will be introduced a good balance of structural and focused lessons, as well as lessons that will cater to their educational objectives and passions. I believe that all students can thrive at any subject they set their mind to and that each pupil learns at a different pace, so it is essential that instructors emphasize each learner's individuality in the various lessons offered.

Hello. My name is Christina, and I have taught for about eleven years. I have had experience teaching multiple subjects such as reading, English, history, science, mathematics, music (piano and accordion), online, at various schools (elementary and high schools), and privately through the homes of

Music college graduate, with plenty of experience in real-world musical settings and five years of teaching experience. When it comes to teaching I have plenty of patience and no judgment!
My goal is to help you define realistic goals and then, how to obtain them. If you are unsure of what your goals are, that's okay too. We can cover the basics and in time, find out what your musical interests are. However, I expect my students to work towards improving their skills by practicing a little each day, or as I like to say students need to be hitting the woodshed.
My lessons are tailored toward each student's goals but I always include certain topics. The core of my teaching involves a clear understanding of rhythm, scales, chords, and music notation. In addition, I enjoy music theory and always work it into my lesson. Personally, knowing the form and function, or the why of song structure is important for musicians to understand.
In addition to theory, we will work on ...

Just judging off our first lesson, it was great! I was really nervous because I haven’t tried to learn to play an instrument in over a decade, but I really enjoyed the lesson with Andrew and I’m looking forward to continuing.

I've been taking lessons from Andrew for almost 2 years now. He's a great teacher; he's patient, encouraging and accommodating. He builds a strong foundation for playing and understanding music by focusing on the fundamentals first and foremost. I highly recommend him as a teacher!
Gare
I came to Andrew as an intermediate-to-advanced level pianist looking to learn jazz piano. Andrew does a great job pacing his lessons to push new ideas and techniques without being overwhelming. He will also relate the techniques he teaches to how he plays in real life, which is extremely helpful. Andrew is very easy to get along with and is also very responsive between lessons. I'd recommend him for any skill level

Accordion:
I make accordion easy by first teaching one hand at a time . Once the student feels proficient we will begin to incorporate coordination between the right hand, which plays the piano notes and left hand which pulls the bellow and plays the chords. In no time at all the student will be playing accordion songs. I encourage the student to bring in songs they like want to learn.

About Karen

Hi! My name is Karen D. I’ve had the pleasure of performing, singing, writing, and recording since I was seven years old. Besides being an Honor Graduate of Berklee School of Music, I have been a lifelong student of the international world-renowned instructors Dante Pavone and Charlie Banacos.

Extremely knowledgeable! Karen is a superb guitar instructor. Honestly, I was struggling. Discouraged! She helped me understand my strengths and weaknesses, and moved me from beginner to intermediate in a matter of months. If you’re getting tired of learning from YouTube and smart phone apps, let Karen kick start your guitar playing. You’ll be glad you did. Thanks Karen!!

Karen was great!

This teacher misrepresented her ability to teach the C system chromatic button accordion. I don't believe that she has ever played one. I asked her before purchasing a set of classes if she knew this instrument and was competent to teach it, and she said she was.

She didn't have one, so she could never demonstrate anything I asked about. She didn't know the key layout. She didn't know the conventions for numbering fingers. She didn't know the basic home key scale pattern.

I waited until I'd finished four classes with my new teacher before writing this so I'd have a good basis for comparison. He is immensely better at teaching this than she was. It further convinced me that she never should have represented herself as competent to teach this particular instrument.

"It's been quite a journey in trying to find an accordion teacher and a place that rents accordions. Anyway, I found both. I found Ivan through this website and I have to say that he is great! He always gets back to me via email and he is very supportive and informative in our lessons. I think he has the positive attitude and knowledge that is crucial to being a good music teacher. "Mark is a great instructor with a very intuitive approach to teaching music. He guides the student in understanding how music works rather than using rigid "play your scales" type of instruction, though he can do that if you prefer. He's very patient and explains each concept thoroughly. If you want to make progress quickly while also enjoying the instructional session, choose Mark. You won't regret it."
