I have been singing with contemporary a cappella groups and barbershop quartets for over 20 years and can coach students on the basic and intermediate levels of vocal percussion

About Thomas
Thomas J. W. is an active music teacher, composer, adjudicator, and clinician in the greater Philadelphia area. He has over fifteen years experience as a concert band director, marching band director, jazz improvisation instructor, choral director, private instructor, and marching drill writer. His directing career has included small rural band programs, small metro programs, large high-achieving suburban programs, and non-profit youth bands. In addition to his band compositions, he also has over forty unpublished vocal arrangements to his credit, most written for use with collegiate men's a cappella groups. Thomas taught over 600 online and local private music lessons in 2016.

Thomas has a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from The Pennsylvania State University. He holds a teaching certificate in the states of Pennsylvania
and New Jersey and has taught at the secondary level in both states. In addition to both instrumental and choral ensembles at Penn State, Thomas was a student leader in the Penn State Blue Band and a member of the brass section of the Cadets of Bergen County Drum and Bugle Corps in 1993 and 1994. He served as an Associate Director of the Warren Junior Military Band of Youngstown, Ohio from 1995 to 2005. He also served as a visual staff member for the renowned North Penn Marching Knights of Lansdale, PA for one season in 2004.

He is a current adjudicator with Drum Corps International and Cavalcade of Bands. He is a member of MENC, PMEA, NJMEA, ASCAP, CASA, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and the National Band Association. He appeared in the Marquis Who's Who Among American Educators in 2004 and 2005, an honor rarely bestowed upon teachers, as students who appear in the Who's Who Among American High School Students must nominate them. He currently is a music teacher at the Center for Performing and Fine Arts of the PA Leadership Charter School in West Chester, PA and resides in Downingtown, PA with his wife and two sons.

Thomas will happily work with students on the autism spectrum or students with ADD.

*** Lesson Details ***
My lessons are tailored to the needs and interests of each student. If a student is involved in school music ensembles, we will work with their lesson books from school in addition to material outside of the books, including SmartMusic, Noteflight, and teacher-created materials. We will focus on building proper tone production and individual technique - something that often is difficult to learn in a large ensemble setting.

I am capable of starting a beginner student on any band instrument including percussion, any classical string instrument (violin, viola, cello, string bass), and piano. I can begin a student on drum set and work with them through their first method book, but I would then recommend they find a specialized drum set teacher after a period of six to twelve months.

For advanced students, I work from selected conservatory etude books on developing advanced skills and can work with students on audition pieces for honors bands/orchestras or college auditions.

My lessons are a half-hour once a week, with the option of working for 45 minutes or 60 minutes.

*** Specialties ***
music, band, orchestra, flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, saxophone, trumpet, french horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, violin, viola, cello, string bass, piano, Percussion

My son was very nervous about his first online lesson. His instructor had him start right in on the lesson, which helped my son quickly get over his nerves. By the end of the lesson, he was all smiles and feeling very confident about his ability to play a very hard piece for his solo contest. He is looking forward to his next lesson.

I've been beatboxing for 18 years. I can show you how to develop your basic sounds such as kick drum, snare drum, cymbals, and toms. I'll also teach you how to assemble your sounds into compelling beats.

About Joseph
Joey aka CelloJoe is an anomaly in the world of cellists.

By combining cello with beatboxing, he has created a unique genre: Classical Hip Hop.

CelloJoe records live on stage with a loop pedal and produces intricate tapestries of harmony, melody, and rhythm. His beatboxing (vocal percussion) and funky cello grooves form a rich soundscape for intelligent lyrics and his music spreads love, joy, laughter and conscious vibrations.

By beatboxing, throatsinging, singing, plucking and bowing the cello, CelloJoe can mimic many styles of music from dubstep to folk to rock to classical to hip hop.

CelloJoe is the world's first long distance musical bike touring cellist.
He has ridden his bike over 10,000 miles in the US, Canada, Mexico, Europe and Australia.

Joey has been a great cello teacher. I like the fact that his experience covers a broad range of music. When I want to make an arrangement of a heavy metal song, or I need to learn the nuance of baroque performance, he's there.
He's a working musician so his schedule is somewhat variable, but he is good about communicating and always comes when he says he will. He's personable and enthusiastic.

About Juan

Cory is terrific! Knowledgable, enthusiastic, and very patient in working with my super limited knowledge. He was always willing to rephrase or help me visualize something when I wasn’t getting it. A few lessons with him have given me the confidence and preparation I need to finally go through with an audition!

Wanting to learn for your Acapella group? Or are you a hardcore Swissbeatbox fan?

I've done beatboxing for Acapella and in competitions. We can work on the basics or dive into liprolls and or throat bass. Don't know what these things are?? That's okay too!

I can teach all levels and any age! Message me and let's talk about what you want to do.

About Z
I LOVE music. I started playing piano when I was younger, but I didn't like it because I felt like mum was making me practice and play--so I quit. A few years later, I found a dusty box sitting on the top shelf and found a beautiful ukulele. It turned out that dad had bought it over a decade ago during a trip to Hawaii and he hadn't played it much since. I was hooked from my first strum.

It's been six years since and I still can't put down my ukulele! I've participated in competitions, taught in music schools and even met my biggest idol: Jake Shimabukuro. I sympathize a lot with people who desperately want to play music, but don't know how to start. I had no clue where to begin when I started!

Along my musical journey, I also picked up beatboxing. That was arguably even harder than learning the ukulele, because so few people knew
how to do it. But I kept going, and navigated my way through hundreds of online videos and tutorials. I was obsessed. By my senior year in high school, I auditioned and was selected to the number one acapella group in my school as the beatboxer. I'm currently a beatboxer for an acapella group in university!

Everything I know about ukuleles and beatboxing comes from the internet and online tutorials. I'm a huge fan of self-motivated learning, but at the same time, it would have been such an amazing resource if I had someone to guide me along. I don't have a degree in music or anything, and I've never taken a music class in my life! I just know when I hear something good and know how to communicate that well to people who feel intimidated by scales, theory and chords.

I don't take anything too seriously, but I am seriously in love with music.

Learn how to groove with just a few basic sounds! Or, looking for some new sounds to add to your arsenal? I've been beatboxing professionally for over 4 years and love to help others learn to find their groove.

About Jared
I'm a professional classical and jazz singer, arranger, and choral conductor. My singing and arranging can be found on many award-winning professionally recorded albums, and I currently direct a vocal jazz quintet out of NYC. I studied voice at the University of Connecticut after discovering my passion for music.

I believe that music is a human thing, and that the most important step for any musician to take is to connect their music to their humanity. This allows the musician to truly affect the people that listen in ways that last long beyond the performance. Plus, when we stop thinking about all those technical things, our natural musicianship is allowed to take over. Music is a way for us to connect to ourselves and help others do so, too!

I've learned that a combination of technical foundations and spiritual focus results in the mo
st nuanced singers and musicians. Let's start the journey together!

I have performed full time with a professional a cappella group for two years, and have conducted nearly 100 beatboxing tutorials in schools. I also have been part of the competitive beatboxing scene for 7 years. My focus is to explain beatboxing in a way that anyone can understand, with detailed explanations that go along with each sound. We will also focus on rhythmic music theory, to understand the inner workings of rhythm and groove.

About John
Hi there! My name is Johnny, and internationally known beatboxer, and classically trained guitarist. My biggest goal is to make learning fun. I remember what it was like when I started learning guitar, and my likes and dislikes during that time. I try to focus on what will keep the student interested, and excited to learn and work on their own once the lesson is over. I also have travelled the world as a beatboxer, and have competed nationally, as well as performed internationally. Beatboxing is a relatively new art form that is pushing the boundaries of what humans are capable of. It is a fascinating field, and one that I am extremely passionate about. Whether studying guitar or beatbox, I can guarantee a fun learning environment, but also one that will teach music theory so that everything that we learn is understood on a theoretical le
vel. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
