Guitar is my main instrument. I teach all styles from blues, to rock, to shredding, to jazz to classical to flamenco. Learn how to pick like Johnny Cash or fly like Steve Vai.

About Benjamin

I grew up in Glenside moved to Pittsburgh for school and came back because I love it here...I've been playing for 17 years and have a smorgasbord of influences from Zeppelin to the Beatles to Phish to Radiohead to the dirty projectors to Jay Z to Kurt Rosenwinkel & John Scofield. I have been composing and working with original bands for some 11 years and play regularly in the city and up and down the east coast. I have also been teaching for the past 11 years all over the Philadelphia area. i teach from a method I derived myself from years of learning both in and out of school. I think teaching music is both aural as well as visual and encourage students to listen to music a lot. most of all i feel that music is fun and the students should enjoy learning so i incorporate their favorite ...

Ben was fabulous! He taught me music I wanted to play at a speed that fit for me and simplified harder songs for a beginner like me to still be able to play a song I loved! Great teacher and picks up on your strengths and weakness. I would highly recommended him as a teacher! He's also funny and would make lesson's enjoyable! He was friendly to my dog and birds as well :)

Nero C. Philadelphia, PA

Read music, play by ear, improvise, finger style, with a pick, soloing, chord melody... The guitar is my life's passion, It would be my pleasure to share my knowledge with you. I am comfortable teaching all levels and styles of guitar.

About Nero

I have been teaching music for 16 years. I grew up on the 2nd floor of my father's music store in Central PA and have been around music my whole life. I earned a bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from the University of the Arts where I studied jazz guitar with Pat Martino, Jimmy Bruno, Steve Giordano, and Tom Giacabetti. I was one of the original teachers during the formative years at the Paul Green School of Rock Music where I later went on to be the Music Director of the Philadelphia and Downingtown Schools. During that time, I helped many students prepare and get accepted to music schools, ran and developed music summer camps, and organized concerts where the students performed the music of Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, and many more of rock's finest band at every major venue in ...

Mandolin Lessons

I recently started playing mandolin on my own - and decided to take lessons to make sure that my technique was correct. -- All I can say is that Nero is the best music teacher I have ever had - not to mention, a gifted musician. He makes learning fun, and his approach and patience allows you to easily pick up new techniques and skills. I hope to take lessons with Nero for a long time!!!!

My first Flamenco Guitar lesson

Had my first lesson with Nero. Nero was very patient and the lesson progressed at a comfortable pace. He didn't bombard me with too much information yet identified learning moments at relevant times during the session that increased the value of our time. I played clarinet for about 6 years over 17 years ago and haven't touched a musical instrument since so I feel like a beginner... He was sensitive to my inexperience and led with the session with a relaxing demeanor.
Victoria W. Philadelphia, PA

I've been teaching guitar for 10 years. I tailor lesson plans to help each individual student reach his or her goals. I teach chords, rhythm playing, and various scales (for soloing), and I believe a good foundation in proper technique makes for the best guitar players.

About Victoria

My name is Victoria. I'm originally from beautiful San Diego, California, and I began my musical journey at age twelve while still back west. I received private instruction on guitar from a professional guitarist who focused on technique and classical playing. About a year later, I began playing guitar and bass in groups that ranged from church ensembles to rock bands, and even spent two years playing in an orchestra. I've instructed nearly 30 students (of varying ages) on both bass and guitar while serving as a music director at two churches and serving as a student music director at Point Loma Nazarene University. I also received a certification through The Contemporary Music Center, now located in Nashville. Here, I acquired further skills in live performance, studio work, and ...

Victoria is an excellent teacher! She is precise in her observations of my playing and the subsequent constructive critique, which has already helped me to tremendously improve the way I play each note as well as difficult chords, such as B minor (difficult for me as a beginner). She is very patient, as well as very smart and extremely personable. She helps me to define my goals at each lesson. I am thrilled to have Victoria as a teacher and I will be signing up for additional lessons with Victoria.

I have a lot of fun taking lessons with Victoria. She tailors each lesson to meet my interests and skill level. She was able to immediately identify the areas I need the most improvement and I have already progressed in these areas after only a few lessons.

Wonderful personality, skill and insight

I just wanted to pop in and say how happy I am to be learning guitar. At 51 some may hesitate, but I promise you it's still possible. If you have a love and a want to learn, you can make it happen. Victoria has been wonderful. She's always helpful and supportive and tailors her lessons towards what direction I want to go with my music. She's always smiling and makes lessons fun, the time passes way too quick. So if you are wanting to learn an instrument, then go out there and do it. Maybe if you are lucky and in the Philadelphia area, you'll be able to get Victoria to teach you as well.
Michael W. Philadelphia, PA

Let's study the guitar and discover all the fun that you can have when you learn to play your favorite riffs and songs. I also love to study theory to uncover what went into the making of the music. Need to brush up on your technique? let's get down to some great warm up exercises to strengthen your fingers as you build accuracy. I have a lot of experience with recording in the studio as well as playing live on stage. I can teach you about those things too! Into gear? I love effects pedals and experimenting with sounds as well.

About Michael

My name is Mike W. I'd love to be your guitar or bass teacher! I have been in a successful indie band for almost 10 years. Having made 4 studio albums on Tooth and Nail Records and extensively toured the U.S. and Europe headlining and playing concerts with bands like Weezer, Brand New, Coheed and Cambria, Thursday, Sparta, Dr. Dog, Manchester Orchestra, Say Anything and Blonde Redhead, I have developed my craft. Now, I would like to share what I've learned about playing the guitar and bass through teaching motivated students of all skill levels. Because I have composed recorded and performed music for so long now, and have a bachelors degree in Secondary Education from Temple University, I have a lot to offer you as your teacher. *** Lesson Details *** We can focus our time together ...

Great teacher!

Michael is a great teacher and I would definitely recommend him to others who are interested in learning to play guitar or who want to increase their skills. Michael does a great job of tailoring the lessons to you, your needs, and your interests. He's very patient, gives feedback appropriately, and always points out what you're doing well. He's very encouraging. Michael is very knowledgeable and experienced. I thought I'd simply be learning to play chords on the guitar, but Michael has also taught me some music theory. He "breaks it down" to make sure I understand the concepts behind what I am doing. He's always happy to answer my questions and takes the time to explain stuff when necessary. He also writes everything down for me so I can easily practice on my own between lessons.

About Ryan

Born in raised on the south side of Chicago Illinois, I grew up listening to A LOT of great Chicago blues guitarists. After receiving my first acoustic guitar I quickly gravitated towards learning to play blues and blues rock guitar at the age of 13. As my hunger for knowledge grew, I began learning and studying other genres of music through private lessons and lesson videos in the styles of Progressive Rock, Shred, Funk, Fusion and Jazz. Music was a way for me to find structure, discipline, self worth and personal expression outside of the typical confines life provides. Through that I grew as a person and a musician. My sole reason for teaching is to help others find that passion and those qualities within themselves to live a beautiful and fulfilling life through his/her instrument.

Ryan is the third guitar teacher I have tried and in my opinion the best. While the others I tried were either too unstructured or too technical, Ryan does an excellent job of teaching you the all the basics while tying in the more technical theory aspects in a manner that is both efficient and logical. The way he is able to break things down has helped me progress much faster compared to my other guitar teachers. He is also well versed in adapting yours lessons to the style of music you want to learn how to play and can teach you all the different nuances that will help your playing stand out. I highly recommend giving Ryan a shot to help your reach your guitar playing goals.

I took about 8 lessons with Ryan so far and it has been a very good experience. You can tell he is very passionate about the guitar and really creates a fun and interesting learning environment. I am a beginner and Ryan is very patient and helps me work through things I am struggling with. Before I was trying to teach myself but I feel after taking lessons for 2 months I already have learned 10 times as much as before.
