About Trevor

Every musician was first and foremost a fan of music. My love of music began when my mother took me to a performance of Beethoven's fifth symphony when, coincidentally, I was five. From that point, I started fervently listening to my mother's records (those are the huge, black monstrosities that people in the pre-historic used in place of iPods), followed closely by my father's CD collection. After a while, this ravenous desire of to know and feel music moved me to play an instrument. After a couple of false starts with the drums and violin, I found my true musical calling: the guitar. On January 25th 1995, on a whim, I began playing the guitar, and I have yet to put it down. Along the way I've picked up a number of friends for my guitar, including the bass, the ...

Trevor is a knowledgeable and capable teacher. I am not a beginning student, I have a degree in music and I have played guitar for many years. I was looking for someone to help take my playing in a different more refined direction. Trevor is excellent. He knew I had an understanding of music already and came to me with a nuanced and exciting curriculum.

He is personable, professional, and most of all, an excellent teacher.

\Trevor is a great teacher--and I hope to pick up the lessons later on after I get done with my doctors. When I started all I knew for sure was that the piano had white and black keys. It's always nice to learn something new. Thanks to Trevor. ED

If you want the best, then schedule a lesson with Angelika. I am an adult who wanted to learn more about piano but also in understanding music in general. So far, I have learned many techniques that make quite a difference in the way a piece sounds and in how much enjoyment I (and anyone who may be listening!) get from playing it. Angelika explains things very well and has the patience sometimes needed when learning something new…or in becoming better at it. Go ahead, do it for yourself (or those you love). You will not be disappointed!

I've been teaching German for 2 years. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to speak in simple conversations and as time goes on you'll be able to use German grammar. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

About Sheila

I have earned a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Redlands. As a professional singer, I have performed in numerous concerts and operas. I've sung in both choral and solo settings, as well as fully staged productions. Throughout my education, I have played piano and even participated in Certificate of Merit testing. These experiences have all helped shape me into a well rounded singer. In lessons, I devote equal amounts of time to technique and repertoire. We will always begin by warming up, and working on some exercises. Then we will implement your new techniques into your repertoire, which I will tailor to your specific needs and wants. Above all, though, I want to help you realize your dreams as a musician! Looking forward to getting started!

I have been taking Latin lessons with Ben for some time and am very pleased with his method. I have never studied Latin before, so we began from scratch, using a lesson plan built by Ben with the help of college-level textbooks. Ben has been very diligent and disciplined in building demanding but realistic lesson plans every week, as well as in creating thorough and helpful practice exercises. On top of this Ben is a polite, pleasant and accommodating fellow, open to questions and suggestions. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to study Latin.

I was very interested in piano when I was in college, but I didn't have any background in piano. I took several piano lessons from Ben. He was always very patient and detailed in explanations. He also incorporated music theory to help me improve my understanding of music. I wanted to learn Canon in D, but it was too hard for me. Ben rewrote Canon in D to make it easy enough for me to play. After a few lessons, I learned the whole music!

Ben is also qualified in GMAT training and proofreading. Ben helped me with GMAT grammar, readings, and critical reasoning. He was exceptional in grammar! For the proofreading, he went point by point and gave valuable suggestions. He explained every correction to me to make sure I understood all of them.

About Ryan

Hello German learner! My name is Ryan and I am 30 years old. English is my native language and I have been learning German for over 10 years. It first started out as a hobby and quickly became a passion. 10 years ago I hoped I'd be able to engage in short conversations in German, but now I am reading novels, watching movies, and having long, in-depth conversations with people in German. Between 2008 and 2009 I lived with a German family in Germany for 12 months as an au pair. I watched after four children ages 3, 6, 9 and 12. I have a deep understanding of grammar and can articulate grammatical concepts of English and German with ease and clarity. In the summer of 2010 I got a job as a German speaking technical support representative at a call center in Orono, Maine. Between 2011 and ...

Ryan is a fantastic instructor! He spends so much time outside of my lesson preparing specialized lessons just for me and is very flexible and understanding. I am a flight attendant and on my very first lesson, he had a whole list of airport words in German and three lessons in, we are dissecting the announcement booklet in German. Couldn't recommend him more!!!

Ryan is AWESOME. My son has Aspergers and Ryan adapts his lessons to fit his special interests accordingly. I'd recommend him to anyone. He's very knowledgeable and patient, and my son is learning very quickly under Ryan's adept tutelage. The only recommendation I have for Ryan is to raise his rates, as he's a little too inexpensive in my opinion. :).

Ryan is very good at explaining the grammar, pronunciation and general rules of German in a simple and systematic way. He makes me feel comfortable and confident as he provides constructive criticism and positivity. At first I was hesitant about not having a native German speaker but now, I wouldn't have it any other way. Having learned German, Ryan knows firsthand what challenges his students may face and is eager to share his own tricks and materials which have proven to be successful, given that he is now fluent! He always answers my questions thoroughly and uses examples that he knows are relatable making the lessons not only relevant, but fun! He is willing to cater the lessons to my specific interests and needs! Ryan is an all around great teacher!
Karin N. Miami, FL

I grew up in the German part of Switzerland. I was exposed to the language throughout my schooling years. In my professional life as a doctor's assistant and later CEO assistant I needed to communicate daily in the German language. I studied business for 3 years. Over the last 3 years I have taught numerous people German. Some only need a little guidance, others keep on coming back to master more fluent conversation.

I'm flexible with my time and willing to adapt to my students' needs.

About Karin

Hello, my name is Karin. I was born and raised in Switzerland. However, wonderful Miami is my home now. I wouldn't want to have it any other way as I love the unique melting pot of Miami. No wonder so many German speaking tourists, investors and patrons are visiting here. Tutoring is something I'm passionate about. My goal is to provide an atmosphere that will facilitate an ongoing level of improvement in my students' speaking proficiency, and you'll see this by the way I teach. I am very flexible with my time and willing to adapt to my students' needs. As a first step I get familiar with your expectations. Secondly I recommend an approach that fits you. Thirdly I want you to have fun and learn in an interactive way.
