Bryan S.

San Diego, CA

Always wanted to act? I focus on helping my students build their characters, give realistic performance in a nurturing and collaborative environment. Come learn scenes, monologues and full roles to help you get the experience and skills needed to perform on stage, in film, television or commercials.

I am trained in the Chubbuck Technique, Viewpoints, and Method Acting. I work with my students to better their understanding of the art of acting, and the power they have as a person and performer.

About Bryan

I currently work as an Actors Equity Singer/Actor around San Diego and am a resident Music Director for SeaWorld San Diego. As an active actor and music director in San Diego I have worked with companies including Legoland, Sea World, San Diego Opera, Lyric at Birch, TAFFEE, San Diego International Fringe Festival, California Youth Conservatory, Martinis Above Fourth and have been a featured actor in two local indie films.

I have been immersed in music since the age of 5. Singing along to the radio and cassette tapes that my mom listened to in the car. I started training as a singer during
my freshman year in high school and have performed in numerous musicals, concerts, and operas since.

I feel that performance is an integral part of piano and vocal education and will make sure that my students are given ample opportunity to perform, whether it be at an Open Mic Night, or I arrange a recital or musical production to nurture each of my student's performance abilities.

First and foremost we need to have fun. Music is fun and so should the lessons be. When it comes to practice I recommend that students do spend time outside of the lessons practicing to ensure that they see results. If you choose to practice only while in the lesson you will get better but it will be at a slower pace.

Tyler S.

Temecula, CA

I have been a performing artist since the age of 7. Over the years, I have worked under dozens of production companies for film and stage. As world-renowned author, Malcolm Gladwell, states in his book: "Outliers," it takes 10,000 hours of experience to be considered an expert of any field. After hitting that mark around Christmas 2012, I began to write a curriculum and had my first student a few weeks later.

To give you an idea of my general class structure, it is typically a balance of the following:

Craft Foundation,
Personal Study,
Performance Development,
Business Analysis,
Art Exercise,
and Method Discovery

I pull from a wide array of past learning experiences, (from the academy, to the set/stage/studio, to my personal library), to produce the best exercise technique for each individual student's uniquely-structured learning path in the art and craft of Acting.

We will study personal development, (how to prepare your slate for each new story), ...

My kids have a passion for theatre. They did CYT with Tyler a few years back and missed him when he graduated! Now they get to be back and studying with him as his students! He is a very kind young man and always means business.
(And he's a great actor too! ;) I highly recommend him!

Step it up, NYFA! Haha I'm just kidding. But seriously... Like a couple of Tyler's students, I was a class-mate of his at the New York Film Academy. Well, I was a "program-mate," rather. He was a few levels ahead of me. But when I requested training with him and wanted to see his educational background, he whipped out this scroll-long-seeming beauty of a resume and WOW. He sure knows how to use his time wisely. This guy is a GENIUS! And, as I found out, was the youngest kid at the #1 film academy in the world... Who was also offered a scholarship, work/study, directing job, award-winners' mentorship, other promotional opportunities, and yada-yada. Anyway, he is a good friend of mine and has done a lot to improve my craft. Thanks so much, man. Keep it up!

I took vocal lessons with Krista for several years and would highly recommend her. She was always encouraging and I found myself quickly improving with her guidance. Krista has a wide repertoire and gave great suggestions for finding new audition pieces that fit my personality and voice. Krista not only improved my vocal technique, but my confidence and public speaking skills as well. She has my highest recommendation!

I have known Miss. G since I was 12 yrs old (7th gtade). She was my Orchestra teacher, there I learned Violin, Double Base and some Piano. Now keep in mind I was only 12 and learned and advanced to the top in one year of having her. There I learned much more than just how to play an instrument. There I learned how to present myself as a young artist, read two differnet celfs or "keys" of music, time management and how to teach others. I have taken any and every piece of advise from this women! Even now, at the age of 25. We are still in great communication and I have grown to truly respect Miss. Giffin for all the time and effort to help me. Take it from me, she is great at what she does and even better at learning/teaching new things. I would put 100 satrs if I could!

Introduction to Voice Acting: Books & Resources to Check Out
When it comes to the performing arts, voice acting attracts some of the most fiercely dedicated enthusiasts, despite the relative anonymity compared to acting on stage or on screen.
