Weslie B.

Los Angeles, CA

Folk, pop, rock - I focus on chord progressions, strumming and finger-picking. I like to teach a bit of music theory along the way so that you can learn to arrange and transpose. I can help singer/ songwriters with guitar arrangements so that accompaniment compliments vocal style.

About Weslie

Well-versed in voice, music theory, popular song styles and poetic writing, I have helped many singers and songwriters to sing and/or compose with skill and confidence in a style that is natural and unique to them. I teach voice at AMDA (Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts) to singers, dancers actors. I studied voice and jazz arranging at Berklee College of Music, and then earned my Master's of Music degree in music composition from Cal State LA. I have sung pop, jazz and theatre music in Los Angeles, New York, and across the US and Canada. I've appeared on the Jay Leno Show, and have sung in
many local music venues, such as the Troubadour and Luna Park, and have won multiple awards for my songs in internationally acclaimed "I HATE MUSICALS" - a short film musical (now on iTunes). My musical theatre works has been been presented in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago. I am a proud member of CMASH, a composer collective in San Francisco, and I collaborate with Ann Moss, Liam Wade, and Arnold Margolin. My song Practice Your Flamenco was recently recorded at George Lucas' Skywalker Sound, and will be featured on Ann Moss's new CD, Currents.

*** Lesson Details ***
I like to think of my teaching style as 'serious fun'. As a teacher and coach, I want to inspire you to learn skills and songs that help to develop your authentic musical identity. My lessons always include a warm-up, song study and performance. I will, if you prefer, help you choose songs, as well as transpose any song to fit your voice type and range. If you are inquisitive about songwriting, or music theory, I can definitely be a guide in those areas as well.

Weslie is great!

Weslie has helped me tremendously with music theory. She is really good at listening and figuring out specific areas that I needed help with. She even took time on the side outside of our lessons to listen to music examples I sent her and analyzed them for me. Weslie is patient and makes learning fun. Her teaching environment is comfortable and she's flexible with her schedule. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a teacher!

Weslie is a great mentor and teacher

Weslie has been able to open my eyes to what my voice really sounds like into the "musical world" in terms of technicality. While also been able to make me a better singer already. We have been working on one of my favorite songs, and there's so much I've learned from her in terms of playing the guitar and understanding how the chords are built and interfere into the overall senses of the song. I would recommend Welsie to any person that has passion in music and is willing to take the classes seriously in terms of a good learning pace and content, because I believe that she is one of the best out there in LA.

Becky is awesome. My job takes away most of my time and because of that I haven't been able to be very regular in attending all sessions. She had been very patient with me and adjusted the pace as needed for a student like me. She is an enthusiastic teacher and I would recommend Becky as the first guitar teacher for students of all ages. Keep rocking Becky!

Good

Great teacher. Shes fun and friendly. Ok environment. She has a few cats at her home where she teaches and during one lesson I smelled a foul smell and realized the cat was using the litter box right next to where I was sitting. Kind of gross!

Created after many years of teaching experience, this program delivers a comprehensive curriculum covering subjects such fretboard harmony, scale patterns, improvisation concepts, style analysis, left hand/right hand techniques, solos transcription, with the aid of background tracks. Think of University level education at much more affordable rates.

About Gio

Hello there this is Gio L.

I'm a professional guitarist, performer, composer, instructor, international clinician, webinarist, with 20 years or professional experience in music education & live performances. Also, I'm an Italian teacher see " Ciao bella" for more details and an Adobe Photoshop teacher, see "iPhoto' for more details.

I was Raised in the coastal city of Bari, Italy, I've picked up my first guitar at the age of 10 and have not stopped playing music ever since.

My training as a musician has taken me all over the world starting from Italy to a Mediterranean tour, to a
Cruise Liner in Brazil to Hollywood CA,. I came to Los Angeles to attend the Musician Institute (Hollywood, CA) where I've graduated with honors from the Guitar Institute of Technology, there I had the pleasure to work as a tutor during my scholarship program. I'm an active musician, music is my life. Often I have the pleasure to travel abroad where I give guitar clinics and perform my music, I like to think of myself as a citizen of the world. I've been teaching professionally in S. California ever since 1998, I reserve the option for in persons one-on-one lessons only for my best students, again, music matters to me. During these last 16 years I've secured many teaching positions like at the Los Angeles valley College extension program, at the Los Alamitos Conservatory of music, at Mars Music learning Center, at the YMCA etc. though, as I've already mentioned, the best one will continue on with me. I've much more to share with you regarding my professional life, my discography ect. but let's talk about lessons now.

What I care the most is to make sure that you'll receive the best private education that money can buy. As I've stated on my headline, If you're serious about music, if you're ready to learn the skills, expand your knowledge, achieve your goals, then, I'm your man. I've learned that we all have different approaches when it comes to studies. Learning how play an instrument is a fun but challenging process. I'm not gonna lie to you, you need to work on it, plain and simple !
I'll provide you with written curriculum or I'll indicate the right book to be purchased, I'll monitor your progress and I'll make sure to get the best out of you. My experience let me face any situation with the confidence that only the know-how can give you (16 years of professional experience will do that!). I have wrote curriculum aimed to the "Just as an hobby" type of student as well as comprehensive once for professional players that want to specialize on a specific style. In both cases it doesn't change what you have to do, practice ! To end with I've transcribed thousands of songs, It only takes me few minutes to put on paper your favorite song, wouldn't it be great to be able to read and play the music you love ? You'll be in good hands regardless of your goals in music

*** Lesson Details ***
My teaching philosophy is to make sure that you enjoy your learning process. I'm a positive person, I believe in encouraging the student, every step you'll take toward your goal shall be acknowledge and awarded, I've been there, I know what it takes. Practice is a crucial aspect of this process, I'll motivate you, I want you be be successful in your learning journey, but, again, I need you to work on it, it won't happen otherwise.

Are you ready ?

*** Studio Equipment ***
The student has to provide his/her own instrument. A small guitar amp is provided for electric guitarist, so there is NO need to bring your own

Nils B.

Los Angeles, CA

Obviously also depending on your specific goals and experience, besides learning your favorite songs, we'll probably discuss techniques, theory and creating music yourself (improvisation/songwriting).

I can also provide helpful advice on guitar related aspects like sound/equipment, instrument setup /maintenance and recording.

About Nils

****On Holiday from July 21st until September 2nd****

Whether you're a beginner or more advanced, age 5 or 50, in my experience, with even a little bit of practice each day anyone can learn to play.
Maybe your goal is to simply learn to play your favorite songs or maybe you want to learn to write your own music, improvise, or perform live.
Like all good things in life, there are no shortcuts, and learning the guitar takes time and effort, but in return you get the ability to express yourself through music, which is one of the most rewarding skills anyone could ever learn, at any age and
in any situation.

My main focus is on helping you reach the point where you are actually playing music, instead of endlessly going over exercises or theory.
I want you to be able to play music you would enjoy listening to, because this is when you will start to truly appreciate your accomplishment, and progress will start to come much easier.

Together we will discuss your personalized course, based on your goals and situation, and along the way I will provide materials/tools and recordings of each lesson as needed, for you to take home to work on.
Different aspects we will focus on are technique, chart/sight reading, music theory, ear training, soloing/improvisation, and developing a strong sense of rhythm, most of which will be done through simply learning to play the songs you like.
Besides the basics, it's very important to learn how to independently keep challenging yourself, learn from your mistakes and continue growing musically, simply using your ears and whatever information you can find online or anywhere else, even without my help.

Besides teaching you how to play I can also help with finding the right instrument and equipment, provide advice on guitar/amplifier maintenance and setups, as well as recording techniques, or any other practical matters related to playing music/guitar.

Lessons can be either at your residence or at my fully equipped home studio in the Hollywood Hills/Studio City area. In a beautiful and private environment, with plenty of (free/safe) street parking available.
Lessons via Skype are obviously available as well.
I look forward to hearing from you!

For over six years I have been teaching guitar to children and beginners of all ages. We explore basic scales and chords. And will study songs in the pop/rock and folk genres.

I am passionate about unlocking and developing creativity in artists of all ages, and have extensive experience working with children and adolescents. Over the past decade I have coached pianists, guitarists and vocalists privately, as well developed and run music programs at various institutions in Southern California. David is an amazing teacher. He is very patient with the student's learning process while remaining encouraging. He gave me just the right amount of push to keep my skills improving. It can be very overwhelming for an adult to learn a new musical instrument (piano for me), but David's mastery of music coupled with his upbeat and joyful personality make the process really enjoyable. I highly recommend David to teach both adults and children. He teaches piano and guitar lessons to the two teenage children of a friend of mine, and they both love him.

I recently saw a holiday vocal performance that David instructed and moderated. I could tell he has a true talent with men and women of all ages, but especially children. He offers patience and innovation in his work. He had his classes (1st - 5th Grade, I believe) write a story board based on how they felt about certain topics during the holidays, and David was able to compile a masterpiece of original songs that had some of the audience in tears. He also seems like a very talented pianist, and he must be a great composer since her composed the songs as well for the performance. I would recommend him to friends and family, and really feel that is he truly gifted at what he does.

David's instruction was thoughtful, manageable and carefully crafted to my specific needs. He was always prepared, and way more patient and kind to me, than I was even to myself. Most importantly, I felt safe to explore my inner artist without judgement and with complete support from David. He's both a great teacher and person.
