Kristin M.

Boston, MA

About Kristin

Hello!

I received a Bachelor's in Music Education and Performance from Drake University in Flute and Piano. Currently pursuing a Master's in Music Therapy.

At Drake, I received a musical scholarship covering 80% of my tuition costs.
I was also honored to sit as Principal Flute in both the Drake Symphony Orchestra and the Drake Wind Symphony, the top performing groups at the University.

I started to play the flute and piano in second grade, and
my love and passion for music have only grown and matured since then.

I enjoy sharing what I've learned, and learning from my students
as well.

I am excited and thrilled by the opportunity to work with you!

I've been taking lessons with Kristin for the past 3 weeks now. I used to play as a child, and I'm just getting back into playing now after several years. Finding a teacher that was the right fit was important to me. Kristin is awesome! I felt comfortable right away. She's super patient, knowledgable, and took the time to understand my goals. Highly recommend her :-)

Mitasvil P.

Cambridge, MA

About Mitasvil

Hi,

If you are in search of a preeminent tutor then you have reached the right person. I have a teaching experience of more than 5 years in Math to students of various grades (K-12th). I have also tutored students preparing for SAT/ACT, GRE, SSAT etc and have had great results. Many of my students have increased their scores by more than 40% in their exams.

I believe that solving a problem isn't the only goal but understanding the concept behind that is very important. If the basics of any student is well built up then he can grasp anything easily and wouldn't be afraid even if he sees a
totally unknown problem in front of him. He will always have the courage to try. So making the student believe that what he is facing isn't a problem but a challenge makes the problem look much easier and changes the entire perspective of that student towards that subject.

I am a young, enthusiastic, friendly person on whom you can completely rely and I can assure you the best result. Hoping to work with you.

*** Lesson Details ***
PRE-CALCULUS
First we will begin with the following topics:
Vector- It’s not an intrinsic part of pre-calculus but we will just brush up the basics as to what a vector is and how is it denoted and why it is used.
Trigonometry:
The most important part of Math and Pre-calculus. We will first learn the basics of trigonometry as to why this particular topic is called ‘Trigonometry’. I will teach you the unit circle concept and the relation between degree’s and radian and how to convert one in to another. Then we will do the various ratios like Sine, Cosine etc. I will teach you how to learn and remember the ratios and the common values of different angels. Then we will practice various problems involving simplification and finding values. We will also practice word problems and the real application of trigonometry.
After all of this we will go into deeper properties of all trigonometric ratios and other theorems. You need to practice this concepts a lot because if your this part is strong then almost one-third of your calculus is done. Mastering all of this shouldn't take more than 10-12 hours.
Once we are done with this we will focus our attention on other topics of pre-calculus.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I serve Boston,Cambridge,Somerville,Allston,Quincy,East & South Boston, Dorchester, Medford, Charlestown Arlington, Watertown,Roxbury Brookline, Belmont, Arlington and any area easily accessible by the T within 45 minutes of travelling from Central Square,Cambridge or Northeastern University.

*** Specialties ***
I am special in giving a crash course. With a limited time and a lot of things to learn my methodology helps the students to grasps the topics easily and swiftly. If you have very less time before the exam and have a lot of portion to cover then I can help you guide and learn the entire course without it being to strenuous. I have taken crash courses in SAT and GRE where I have tutored students for just 15 days in which the entire syllabus was taught along with ample practice which is equivalent to 2 months to time. In this not only the students got great results but also learnt many important concepts which helped them in future.

Peter M.

Medford, MA

About Peter

I am a student of various great drum teachers from many backgrounds. Experienced players enjoy jamming with me, but I have been told that I am especially gifted at helping beginners feel comfortable finding rhythms and sounds out of any instrument, including the human body. Rhythmic breathing is made simple and encouraged from the start. Tones and drum patterns can be explained verbally or written mathematically. Students remember the patterns forever, as well as gaining comfort in playing with other drummers or instruments. Odd time signatures or complicated songs can be tackled and easily le
arned. Use any drum or percussion instrument you have! Recordings are encouraged if you like!

Peter grew up in Chicago, raised to love soulful music. A graduate of Northwestern University's Performance Studies program with a focus on Theatre and Media Arts, Public Speaking, and Ethnology. Designing percussion for stage and dance lead to studies and teaching of North and West African, Middle Eastern drum, Caribbean/South American and Asian drum and percussion rhythms. First hand experience has been gained by living in Morocco and South Korea for nearly a year each, studying and documenting folk music.

Bryan has been great to work with. He has a lot of patience, which is important for someone like me who has a very limited musical background. He is clearly well educated in singing and is able to impart his knowledge to his students. I believe that anyone who takes lessons with him has the potential to greatly improve.
