Linda L.

Tucker, GA

About Linda

*** Travel Equipment ***
I do not typically provide any equipment - but I am willing to select and purchase books for the students to learn from (cost of books to be reimbursed by the student/parent) when requested to do so.

I am also willing to provide stick-on note-names for the keyboard, for young children.

The students must have their own instruments, music stand, paper and pencil, and provide a folder for sheet music and notes/instructions.

*** Specialties ***
On guitar, I specialize in the following styles: jazz, rock, blues, folk, bluegrass, and children's songs.
Piano: I pr
efer electronic keyboard to acoustic piano, but am happy to teach beginning students on a regular piano as well. I teach note-reading, playing by ear, and theory. When using an electronic keyboard, I include more rhythm development, arranging, chord theory, and use of the many features of an electronic keyboard, in the lessons.
English: I am qualified, by years of tutoring, to tutor/teach English (spoken, written, and reading comprehension) to both native English speakers and to those learning it as a second language.
*** I am particularly good at working with children who have a.d.h.d. and other learning disabilities!

Linda is easily the most patient and welcoming person I've ever worked with. She has incredible knowledge over a vast array of topics and she is eager to share with others. This, in my opinion, is the most important quality of all teachers. Her lessons have proved a great way to build a solid base in my field of interest. as well as providing me with a well rounded and wonderful mentor that I'm sure to rely on for many other lessons in the future- banjo or otherwise!

Lisa N.

Atlanta, GA

About Lisa

Motto: We Can Succeed Together!!!

Began tutoring in the summer of 2009 with accounting students to help them understand the principles of debits and credits and journal entries. I have worked with children as young as 5 years old with learning how to tell time, count money.

I have my BS and Masters in Accounting and have been working in Accounting since 2007. I have a number of resources that I use to explain various concepts and provide examples. Math is a strong subject for me as I walk students through ways of solving a problem. I will explain it how it is done in the book and give a
different perspective on solving the same problem.

I like to use flash cards to help with memorization. I also try to provide as many real-life business examples to help explain journal entries. I also like to test/quiz my students to see of they really are understanding the concepts.

I am one to build confidence, reassurance, and positive feedback. I want to make sure that you fully understand the concept(s) before moving on.

I offer 15 years as an educator, scientist, and technologist. In 2008, I was recognized by AYA Educational Institute in Stone Mountain Georgia for going above and beyond the call of duty to help children in their education. I am neither a pure academic, nor a pure pragmatist. Instead, my subject matter expertise comes from academic training, self-learning, and real world professional experience. My experience includes international teaching & tutoring in Bermuda, Trinidad, Kenya, Barbados, and Korea. I love to learn, and I love to teach.

Teresa L.

Atlanta, GA

About Teresa

Greetings! I’m Teri. If you are looking for a comprehensive tutor with an advanced education and a love for helping students grow academically, then I would love to help!

A snapshot of my background:

• Grew up in Atlanta
• Earned a master’s degree in Organizational Psychology from Walden University, where I graduated with a 3.7 GPA and was inducted into the Psi Chi Honor Society.
• Graduated from Georgia State University with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a 3.5 GPA.
• Tutored students of all ages, backgrounds and academic ability, and I always strive to make learning a fun ex
perience.
• Have over 15 years experience writing for online and offline media platforms.

In addition to helping students improve their grades, I am also highly dedicated toward helping children (and adults) become successful learners and critical thinkers. My approach gives them the academic tools they will need during their elementary and middle school years in addition to helping them tackle the difficult high school and college curriculum they will face in the future. However, I never use a “one size fits all” approach. I always make sure that every child’s individual earning styles and abilities are addressed in order to foster a more personalized learning relationship.

As an avid reader, former writer and editor, I like to include the mechanics of good English in all the subjects I teach. Whether it’s biology, history, literature or language arts, using proper English on tests and papers is essential. In fact, we know that communication skills in general are important, and having that foundation early in life is an advantage in an otherwise competitive world. However, I am committed to creating an atmosphere that is stimulating and adaptive to the varied needs of students, so my aptitude is to remain flexible and adaptable toward each student’s needs.

Over the years, it’s been wonderful to witness my students learn and grow individually and within a classroom setting. Whether it’s a graduate student I’ve helped on a research paper or a first-grader I’ve worked with in math, it’s rewarding to know I’ve helped my tutees, even just marginally, establish the confidence and skills they’ll need to be successful in life.

I am excited about working with your student to help them discover their own path to learning, and teaching them the communication skills necessary to become successful adults in all aspects of their lives.
