"Ms. Parrish is a dedicated teacher. Her students love her and she has a gift for meeting them right where they are and making them feel successful while s
he keeps them challenged. I don't think that there is much Ms. Parrish couldn't teach my daughter to do!"

"Marwan is amazing! He impressed me already the first minutes of the first lesson he gave my son in AP Calculus BC by asking specific questions and pin po
inting where my son might need help. After that he has come prepared and focused with materials for each tutoring session. Marwan's piano credentials speak for themselves but I want to underscore that he is really good at adjusting to the student's level and making it fun. My daughter always tells me afterwards *it is so much fun with Marwan!*.
On top of all that, Marwan is a good, kind person and a really cool guy. You could not be in better hands."

"The most wonderful thing about Amadou is his innate capacity to connect with young people, and in doing so, he make the tutoring sessions and the learning
that takes place seemingly fluid and effortless. I hired him to tutor my 10 year old son in math. We met at his office in Hyde Park and we stayed with him for about 2 months, but then we had scheduling conflicts. My son has an innate ability with math (inherited from my husband). He's very intuitive with it, but he also had a problem with focusing and taking time to work through each and every step (also inherited from my husband). He would get frustrated working with me, so I thought having someone else who would make math fun and challenging would ensure that he was advancing appropriately in math. Amadou's sessions were structured, he factored in breaks (incl. snacks!) and he provided workbooks and homework that he would go over the next lesson. He was always looking for ways to engage my son's mind, but make it interesting. He went step by step through a sample problem,, and then would work through additional problems and point out errors and talk them through with my son. He was also open to listening to me when I made suggestions about content and approach. He was very good. As my son told me, "an hour just flies by with Amadou, it doesn't feel like work at all!" I recommend him highly."
Music Director of the Chicago Philharmonia Orchestra since 1985, Farobag has also served as Managing Director of the University of Chicago Performing Artists Series from 1989 through 2002 and principal conductor of its resident professional ensembles. A skilled interpreter of Baroque literature as well, Farobag continues in his capacity as Artistic Advisor to the Baroque Masterplayers, a virtuoso ensemble that concatenates period performance techniques with modern instruments thus creating a unique voice within the realm of 17th and 18th- century repertoire.
A double graduate of the Eastma
n School of Music and the University of Rochester, Farobag studied under Anastasia Jempelis, a pioneer of Suzuki violin pedagogy in the United States. In addition to the Suzuki curriculum, he is also associated with the Royal Conservatory Music Development Program that sets a national standard of musical achievement in various fields.
Befitting his penchant for encouraging artistic interest amongst younger members of his community, Farobag is also the principal conductor of the Zoroastrian Symphony Orchestra that offers a unique mixture of young and seasoned professionals sitting side-by-side in a strictly professional setting. Since the year 2000, the ZSO has staged highly successful performances at various venues in Houston, Chicago, and Toronto. A New Year's eve performance in Los Angeles is scheduled for 2014.
Having also taken graduate-level coursework in educational psychology, mathematics, and philosophy at the University of Chicago, Farobag offers tutelage in various areas of elementary and secondary education as well as in SAT, ACT and GRE test preparation.
Additionally, as a certified Reiki Master, therapeutic and/or educational sessions are also extended to those who may be inclined to alternative healing techniques.
*** Lesson Details *** Sheer technique is necessary but insufficient to play an instrument well. Aural skills, that include the study of functional tonality and voice-leading are important factors that impart musicality. This is of great import if the prospective musician wants the audience to truly enjoy his or her performance !
Whether it be the 3 Rs or preparation in the performing arts, a remarkable instructor must go well beyond the subject matter at hand and help imbue the student with a spirit of wonder that, in due time, will foster enthusiasm necessary for excellence.
A child emulates and learns to communicate in his or her mother-tongue through a supporting and nurturing environment. Likewise, a student needs to be sufficiently motivated to embrace learning in a familiar supportive manner.
*** Studio Equipment *** The In-Studio lesson take place in the living room. Driveway parking. No pets.
*** Travel Equipment *** None; I do expect a reasonably good piano / keyboard at a student's home.
*** Specialties *** Traditional and Suzuki-based education. Performance and musicality training is open to all instrumentalists.
*** CD's*** Classical Energy, Triton Sound, TS 8501 Salut D'Amour, Triton Sound, TS 9014 Epiphanies1, The Halford Company

I have extensively studied vocal performance and opera for many years and continue to add to my own technique. I have a Master's in vocal performance from the Chicago College of Performing Arts. I have studied other vocal genres, such as jazz, rock, and pop. I have previously taught at The School of Rock in Indianapolis Indiana. I have administered vocal lessons to every voice type at all different levels. Several of my students have recored albums and are currently performing all over the U.S.
I have a bachelors degree in biology with a minor in art. After graduating college, I was a full
-time high school biology teacher, volleyball coach, and director of the school musical. As a high school teacher, I learned first hand the kind of pressure and expectations that are placed on students in order for them to succeed. In college, I was the head student researcher on a two-year lab project. I took several upper level science courses including: biochemistry, calculus, organic chemistry, calculus based physics, cell biology, anatomy, and physiology. I studied marine biology in the Virgin Islands and am CPR certified.
*** Lesson Details *** Voice lessons with me are fun and effective. You can expect to hear improved technique from day one, eventually reaching your long term goals. I begin every lesson aligning the students voice through various vocal warm ups and exercises. We then work together to pick repertoire that will suit the singer's voice and they will enjoy singing. During a lesson we will also cover performance presentation, acting, diction, rhythm, musicality, style, and interpretation.
During tutoring you can expect a personalized plan based on your goals and aspirations. Since every student is different you can be assured we will come up with a plan that is designed just for you. I am a laid back tutor but will be sure to get the most out of you after our time together. Most students see at least a one letter grade improvement. My main goal for every tutoring session is student learning and comprehension.
*** Studio Equipment *** Piano, recording equipment, large collection of sheet music
*** Specialties *** I specialize in helping students find their true singing voice.

As a singer/songwriter looking to improve my vocal chops, I needed to find someone that I could jump right in with and start improving right away. Benjamin provided me with a really comfortable environment and laid back teaching approach that has given me great confidence in myself as a performer.
From the great, useful warmups to the very insightful critiques, Benjamin has taught me a lot about my own voice and what I have to work with. I've improved drastically over the last few months, and his suggestions and ideas about how to approach various singing techniques are without a doubt the reason why.
I look forward to continuing my lessons with Benjamin, and I have very high hopes in myself as an artist after learning from him a great deal about what it takes to be a good singer!

I've had a great time taking lessons with Benjamin. He knows what he's talking about and has been incredibly helpful. He's straight-forward, in a very good way, as he wants to get the most out of your voice a quickly as possible. Highly recommended!

I love language: I speak English, French, Japanese, and some Spanish and German. France is where I first started tutoring, when a new friend and I - Akira - taught each other our native languages using French to explain things. That led me to move to Kyoto where I studied and worked on organic farms for a year, and was lucky enough to befriend 3 awesome Frenchies and become even more fluent. In America, at DePaul University, I received a BA in English and French; I worked for the Writing Center and helped my peers edit (and sometimes start over) 1000s of formal essays, held round table discuss
ions with foreign exchange students, and led one-on-one conversations with people looking to improve their English. When I was in France I worked at a day-care/farm combo and took care of young children while we nurtured the animals. So whether you're 5 and need help with your shapes, 17 with lit-analysis essays, or 55 and want to begin learning a language for the first time, I've got your back! Currently I work as a private tutor of Japanese, English, and French. I also lead a number of workshops and social events focusing on shamanism in and around Chicago.

Walker is very organized and has been an excellent teacher for my son.
Redar August 10, 2015
Thank you very much for helping me, You are one of the best tutor which I had during my study at ELA(DePaul Language Academy). Walker has a great personality and patient for teaching his students the best language skills. Walker`s subjects is not only enhances the language skills, but also the way how a student has to interact with environment which he lives in. He uses different teaching approaches such as games, sports conversation , and deep cultural conversation to make a student gain enough self-confidence to use the language properly. Besides that, his correct use of language skills enhances the students capability for taking more space, and feel more comfortable using the language. Thank you for teaching me English, thank you for making me feel comfortable while I am talking mine 6th language. The most important part of his tutoring sections is the way who he provides the information about the cultural environment, so to help the students to be solid against any culture shock waves. Thank you again for being such a great tutor. Thank you for encouragements, They helped me to feel more confidence while I am using the language for my academic purpose and among my friends.

Walker is an awesome instructor. He's funny and warm and practicing conversation is always something I looked forward to! He's hands-down my favourite tutor I've ever had. As Japanese is such a complicated language, that's saying a lot. I had tons of problems with grammatical rules and Walker really made me feel at ease with his easy to understand explanations. I learned more Japanese in our weekly conversation sessions than I did in a year of my college classes. ウォーカー先生、ありがとうございます！^ - ^
Hey Everyone! I hope your ready to learn or improve your skills as you start investing time and practice into that specific skill. I may not be like everyone else here since I don't necessarily teach at a teaching institution. Instead my development is focused on Business and am apart of the Learning and Development Team within my current company. During my Career I have learned how to commuincate and work with Adult audiences over the years. This has been extremely helpful as we all learn differently as adults than we did when we were children. What I love is that I will be able to apply my l
earning from adult education into teaching other topics besides Business. This includes Swimming, Speech and Spanish! As I'm still currently employed; I continue to grow my experience and learn more effective ways at communicating with an adult audience! If you want to learn more about me visit my Linked In Website by searching my full Name: Abraham Jimenez. I hope to hear from you soon!
