Jonathan C.

Irvine, CA

About Jonathan

Hi there I'm glad you are on my page, My name is Jon nice to meet you. Here are a couple things about me.

If you are here for Academic Tutoring,
I graduated with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering with a Minor in Chemistry from San Jose State University with Cum Laude honors. I worked for 3 years as a contracted tutor contracted with multiple companies and specialize in Math and Science. I have taken SAT tutoring courses for math and am qualified to tutor SAT math. My main strength is that I don't use traditional methods to teach, I focus on fostering an interest and relating relevant and app
licable examples to help understand a problem rather then just teaching them how to repeat steps. Through my methods I have found great success and have even helped influence some kids to pursue a path in Math and Science. My main motto is every one in this world has the same potential to learn, they just learn in different ways. There is no student out there that I can't tutor.

And If you are here for Physical Coaching,
I am a nationally ranked gymnast and competed during my high school years and eventually retiring to pursue my educational goals. I also am a student of David Williams (international judo champion) and do Judo at San Jose State University. I enjoy parkour, free running, MMA, and many other physical challenging activities. I am thankfully able to adapt to multiple sports easily due to my extensive gymnastics background. I have experience coaching boys gymnastics for 3 years, during that time I also coached a parkour and flipping class. I also spent the summer as an action sports councilor at Woodward Tahoe. I have a philosophy about coaching, as long as I can do it I can teach you how to do it. I will never teach a student any skills that I cannot preform my self. If you want to progress your self physical then your at the right page. My goal when coaching is to not only teach a certain skill but help an individual learn more about what he is capable of and where his limits lie. I also believe in actually doing with the student what I'm teaching rather then sitting back and vocalizing. Whether you want to learn the technique of a Tiatoshi, do a standing backflip, or even just want to get stronger I am more then happy to help you reach your goals.

Erin W.

Newport Beach, CA

About Erin

I carry an enthusiasm for knowledge, excitement about the "nerdy" subjects like mathematics and science, and determination to pass that on to my students. I believe in the power of positive reinforcement and prefer to educate students, whether highly gifted or experiencing significant obstacles, in a manner that will leave them not only more knowledgeable, but also more confident. I never use the same approach twice. Each session is tailored to my students' strengths and needs, filling in what is incomplete, and building upon what they already possess. I am passionate about education and the d
evelopment of growing minds, and it shows in my sessions.

I have nearly 10 years total experience working as an educator. I began my experience teaching chemistry and mathematics in a classroom setting as part of a philanthropy program sponsored by my college, University of Southern California. I continued in the industry working for several companies such as Sylvan Learning Centers, Kaplan, TutorFind, and Club Z Tutoring. Since that time, I have continued to work privately with countless students, tailoring my lessons to students' needs and allowing our interactions to grow beyond academic instruction into academic planning, college admissions processes, and mentorship.

I specialize in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and standardized test preparation, but am also available as a general supplemental education provider for any and all subjects with which I have sufficient experience. I like to build a strong connection with my students and their parents, offering not only supplemental education, but also mentorship and academic advisement. I have worked with many families during the planning stages of transition from middle school to high school and high school to university, helping plan a solid academic structure for the student that will guarantee success.

I am available for last-minute tutoring (e.g. studying for a final exam), short-term tutoring solutions (e.g. standardized test preparation), as well as long-term instruction on a regular basis for students with ongoing needs.

Erin knew how to use technology to make the online tutoring sessions as effective as though they were in person. Not only is she smart in the subject matter, she is also very personable. I would highly recommend Erin!

Eli Y.

Irvine, CA

About Eli

My name is Eli, and I am a teacher, a parent and also a learner. I have been a full time Math teacher in public schools for the past five years. I have taught and tutored hundreds of students over the years, and helped them to rethink, relearn and excel in their courses. I became a teacher because I love helping others, and I enjoy seeing students reach those “aha!” moments. I work with each student the way that I would want a teacher to work with my own two children: With respect, patience, and professionalism. I received my earliest education outside of the US, and I am fluent in four lan
guages. Since I earned my teaching credential in the US, with training and certification on the Common Core, there will be no gaps in learning and knowledge when I work with students. I have taught everything from AP to IB, the Algebras to Geometry and Trigonometry, including grades 6-12, college-level and adults. I am able to adapt my teaching and tutoring to suit your skills and needs.

I had the pleasure of working with Eli as his coach, colleague and friend. Eli has a passion for teaching that is indescribable. He enjoys every second of working with students. Also, he is always willing to go above and beyond what is expected to ensure that students learn. Eli was an innovative member of our math team and experimented with the concept of a "Flipped Classroom." He utilized technology as a tool for increasing student learning. I appreciated Eli's willingness to explore how technology can enhance student engagement and knowledge. Furthermore, Eli has an amazing rapport with the students he serves. He amazed me every day with the manner in which he would interact with each student and how he would take an intense interest into every student's lives. I highly recommend Eli as a math tutor or staff member. Content expertise and a huge heart make Eli an effective educator that I would recommend to help any math student.

My daughter, although an A+ student, was struggling with Honors Geometry. A friend of mine recommended Eli for tutoring. We are very pleased to get to know Eli as an outstanding tutor to teach our daughter; he teachs all levels of math from middle to high school and AP courses. Eli is a full-time math instructor at the public schools for 5 years and he has experience teaching IB courses and tutoring college students in various subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. We are very thankful to have a knowledgable, experienced, respectful, kind and humble tutor like Eli for our daughter.
I personally highly recommend Eli for anyone who is looking for a top notch tutor for their kids either in middle school, high school or college.

I had the pleasure of calling Mr. Y my teacher for one year during my junior year of high school when he taught me Pre-Calculus. Mr. Y is a great teacher for several reasons. He is extremely knowledgable and is able to answer any questions with ease and clarity. He really encourages the students to ask questions and is always readily available to offer any help when needed. Mr. Y respected me as a student and I feel that because he was very passionate about math, it made going to class more enjoyable and interesting. I began to look forward to all of the new concepts we learned. Because Mr. Y has a vast knowledge for math, it helped me gain a deeper understanding of the concepts. He did not just teach surface-level; he really strived to help the students understand not only how a concept worked but why, which is the most important part!

Jordan I.

Irvine, CA

About Jordan

I'm not like most tutors. I don't teach so you can complete an assignment or ace an exam. I teach so that you can understand. It just so happens that through that understanding, the assignments become far more trivial, and the exams are far less intimidating.

Hi! My name is Jordan and I am an innovative tutor and life-long learner! It is a passion of mine to help others learn and understand (rather than memorize) math and writing. I have been tutoring informally for eight years, and formally for three. I have tutored many people and have seen my students excel in their classes with my help.
I am a highly skilled, extremely intelligent college student achieving As in all of my classes. As a math major, I know how vital it is to grasp those tough math concepts. However, with my knowledge and ability to teach, I will break down those seemingly impossible concepts into bite-sized pieces in a way you can understand. I am confident I can help you achieve your academic goals!
