Amber is a strict yet nice teacher. My two girls love learning from her and are excited about going to piano lessons with her. Although they have been learning piano for a few years already, they consider Amber well qualified to push them to professional level and say that Amber makes their music pieces much better and accurate.

Amber helped me improve my technique and play with better dynamics. I like that she often plays along with the student to demonstrate her lesson.

Bryan has been great to work with. He has a lot of patience, which is important for someone like me who has a very limited musical background. He is clearly well educated in singing and is able to impart his knowledge to his students. I believe that anyone who takes lessons with him has the potential to greatly improve.

About Grace
An experienced, patient, sweet and funny Chinese tutor to all levels and ages, I have been teaching and tutoring Chinese language over 10 years. I am originally from China, a native Mandarin Chinese speaker with a master degree.
I studied in a law school, got my master degree and lawyer license, also passed the Mandarin Proficiency Test, achieved the College Teacher Certificate and worked in a college to teach law and culture related subjects when I was in China.
After came to America, I had taught in a university, and a language workshop for children. At present, I teach Chinese in a summ
er camp of a very good private school. So you see, my students are from toddlers to adults. One parent praised me that I am a great story teller.
I can help students from primary to college improve their listening, speaking, reading, and writing ability, and achieve a high score in their final Chinese test.
I can help students prepare for the AP Chinese Language and Culture Exam.
I can help worked people have a good understanding of this language.
I can tailor customized lessons to satisfy students’ specific requirements and levels, such as conversational Chinese, retail field Chinese, systematically beginner’s Chinese, etc…
I can teach people Business Chinese as well since I had the law background knowledge from China.
What book series I use the most is to teach high school, college students, and adults Integrated Chinese series.
What I like the most is to teach children because my personality is very active, and I like kids. I like to sing and dance (maybe it shouldn't be called dance, it is just like moving around). I can sing lots of Chinese nursery rhymes.
A committed professional to my work with a sincere, enthusiastic, easygoing, down to earth personality, I like teaching, that students improve day by day is my biggest happiness. You will have a happy time to learn Chinese very well if choosing me as your tutor.

Grace is fantastic. She speaks very clearly and works with you on each lesson at a very manageable pace. She is good at praising when you get things like pronunciation or tones correct, which is really helpful because they are difficult. She is also not afraid to stop you and have you repeat something if you botch it. I really enjoy my lessons.

I only had 1 lesson with Grace and I gave it 2 stars because I think it could have been better (she could have placed more effort into creating an actual lesson plan). I'm an ABC and grew up speaking Mandarin at home, but was looking to learn to read and recognize characters. We spoke Chinese the entire lesson and just reviewed the Integrated Chinese Vol 1 Part 2 textbook glossary from A-C. We just went over each word, which I did not find useful because I can just do with my Chinese friends or parents. Her only homework to me was that if this was too slow, I could read through the rest of the glossary to speed it up next time. I decided not to continue because I was afraid the next lessons would just be going through the glossary word by word. We lost 10 minutes because the TakeLessons video conferencing wasn't working, despite the fact that both of us had checked beforehand and during on the test environment (she could hear/see me, but I couldn't see/hear her). Even then, we went over five minutes to make up for it but it was frustrating to have a shortened lesson because of technical difficulties. Grace was nice, but I just didn't learn anything.
