Jessie M.

Pasadena, CA

This course is for those who are new to piano. You will learn how to read music, play, and some basic music theory.

*Lessons at my studios are taught on a keyboard

*Piano book for beginners required

About Jessie

Every student is a unique person who deserves a lesson customized to his or her individual needs. Each of my students prospers in an atmosphere of patience and encouragement. While the lessons are fun and enjoyable, the serious student will be supported in the development of skills leading to a rewarding career. And the more casual students will grow in an appreciation of music that will always enrich their lives.

As a music major I developed a deeper understanding of music theory, piano, voice, and theater. I received my A.A. in Music at College of the Desert and my Bachelor of Music degre
e at the University of Redlands- which I attended on a music scholarship. I have played leading roles in several operas and musicals in Southern California, including Gianni Schicchi, Die Fledermaus, La Boheme (DTL nominee), The Impresario, The Grand Duke, Patience (DTL award), Cosi fan tutte, Little Women the Musical, Seussical the Musical, and many more. I have also appeared in several concerts, opera scenes, competitions (winning music scholarships and theater awards), and worked as a singer in churches, restaurants, and in pop bands. I continue to stay active in the performance industry, because performing is a part of who I am and I could never live without it.

With this experience under my belt, I feel a desire to pass on my knowledge to students. I carry a strong passion to help people develop their abilities and make them their own. I truly believe that if someone wants something out of life then they WILL achieve it with dedication, perseverance, confidence, and by having FUN doing it!

My daughter in 3rd grade really enjoyed this lesson! Jessie was very nice and kind and Kira even had the opportunity to sign in the first session. These lessons are super convenient for parents that are tired of traveling in the car to non-stop places during the day. Would definitely recommend Ms. Jessie.

Belinda J.

Temple City, CA

I started teaching piano lessons in 2010, and I love teaching piano based on what and how the student wants to learn. I like to suggest appropriate piano books to supplement the lessons, but I also enjoy teaching chords and music theory, which are better suited for those wanting to play popular repertoire. I took piano lessons throughout my childhood learning classical piano music and competed in local competitions.

About Belinda

I have been teaching voice and piano since 2010, and I love sharing music with others! I am available for in-home and online lessons, and I teach a variety of styles for both voice and piano. My higher education studies are in vocal performance with a focus on classical music, opera, and art song, but a lot of my vocal students work on musical theater and popular repertoire. My piano students also play a variety of styles, and I teach many to play and sing at the same time!

I treat every student with respect, and I truly enjoy getting to know them as well. I like to have fun in my lessons,
but I also have years of training and musical knowledge to impart to my students. I am well versed in vocal pedagogy (the science of vocal production), and I use this education to promote healthy singing! I received my Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance at Boston University and my Master of Music and Doctorate of Music in Vocal Performance at Arizona State University.

Belinda has been teaching my 11 year old daughter how to sing for the past year, and Belinda has been such a wonderful and dedicated teacher. My daughter has been interested in auditioning for musical theater for some time, and Belinda helped her find auditions that were appropriate for my daughter's abilities and prepared her for the audition. I'm looking forward to seeing my daughter perform in her first musical next month!

Katarina B.

Arcadia, CA

My philosophy is anyone can learn piano! You just have to practice (and enthusiasm for the instrument helps)

Students will learn correct hand position, sitting posture, learning to see larger shapes in music notes, not note by note.

I stress playing musically, not just playing correct notes.

I teach each student differently depending on their strengths, interests and what they need to work on to improve their playing.

About Katarina

I am currently an UCI piano major. I transferred from Pasadena City College where I was a top student in the program, winning several music awards, a scholarship and a piano competition. I am currently studying with Nina Scolnik, a Juilliard graduate and an outstanding piano pedagogue. At PCC, I studied with world famous teachers, who graduated from top music schools like USC, Yale, Peabody and New England Conservatory.

I have many years of experience teaching all ages, from age 3 to eighty. I can teach either at a student's house or at my studio. I have a passion for music that I want to s
hare with my students. I have received compliments on my beautiful tone, musical expression and intuition about music.

Ms. Katarina has been teaching my daughters for over 2 years. She's great! She's extremely flexible, very reasonably priced, and most importantly my kids love her. She has lots of patient. Not only does she teach the piano, she finds creative ways to teach through games, stories, and even through singing for the kids to remember. One time, on a cruise my 8 year old was having long conversation with the musical director about her favorite composers. It was pretty impressive because she knew where they lived, habits, if they were blind, if they could read, and even how many kids some of them had. Yes, she impressed him!

Christina E.

Los Angeles, CA

In my lessons, we will cover basic technique, scales, and repertoire. I do emphasize basic theory to help students better understand the music and learn pieces more quickly. While working on these technicalities, I also try to make lessons fun and engaging so that the music has depth and a natural flow rather than mechanical approach that tends to make music dry and robotic.

About Christina

My name is Christina and I am very passionate about the vocal arts, specifically Opera. Opera was a surprise in my life that I discovered in college. It moved me to a point where I knew it was what I wanted to pursue. Though singing classically takes great patience, discipline, and perseverance, that 5 minutes on stage projecting pure vocal freedom and expression make it well worth it. The classical technique can provide a great foundation to healthy singing, which can ensure a long vocal life.
Along side opera, I believe basic knowledge in piano is extremely beneficial in improving musicali
ty and an understanding of each piece. Piano greatly improves sight reading and ones ability to learn music quickly and efficiently. It can allow one to develop an understanding of harmony and context within each unique piece of music.
I have recently started teaching and would love to help and guide those interested in music, specifically classical voice, opera, musical theater, and piano. I would love to share the great joy it brings me with others and pass down what I have learned over the years. I have completed courses in music pedagogy and education alongside my degree, and believe in shaping my lessons around each individual's learning style so that each student may continue to grow while having fun.
I graduated with high honors from the University of California Santa Barbara in 2014 with a degree in music receiving both music and academic scholarships. I have performed a wide variety of roles with the university's Opera Scenes program, private showcases, and main staged productions. I was also the featured soprano soloist with the Santa Ynez Master Chorale and Orchestra for their Spring concert.

*I will drive to you for lessons being I don't have sufficient studio space. The only requirement I have is that a piano be present for scales and learning music.
