I teach all ages and most styles. Healthy techniques, breathing, hitting notes accurately, expanding range, enunciation, song selection, song styling and microphone techniques.
I have been teaching both privately and classes for 24 yrs. I use combined curriculum from Musician's Institute and Los Angeles Music College.
My goal is to enhance what you already have and help you to reach "your" goals.
Some of my students are getting better roles in musicals, on the road touring with their band, solos in choruses and choirs, making money as singers around town, recording CD's and getting into the music programs at the universities of their choice.
I've been teaching music for 15 yrs on guitar, piano, bass, cello and bass. My students have ranged from from 5yrs to 75yrs of age. I have seen many student go on to join orchestras, bands, broadway shows or simply continued their education to a university or college. Being able to read music profeciently has given me the opportunity to teach off many method books but like to use Alfred Method, Mel Bay and Frederick Noad Method books. I teach many styles ranging from classical, jazz & blues, rock, contemporary and pop. I do stress and recommend all my students to learn how to read music and usually by our second or third lesson they will playing simple songs. I am here to help you make music!
I received a Bachelors of Music in Vocal Jazz Performance in 2007. I teach contemporary (rock, pop, folk, country), jazz/blues and musical theatre from beginners to advanced. I put a strong emphasis on applying proper vocal techniques to contemporary styles.
In addition to establishing a repertoire, we will work on:
-Expanding range to the students best abilities
-Musicianship / ear training
-Reading music & sight signing
-Peformance techniques, including mic technique
I am also experienced and comfortable working in these areas that require extra care and experience:
- Female and male belt
- Female and male mix
- Male falsetto
- Singing through voice changes
-Sheet music, as needed-- I will provide from my library whenever possible.
-Theory workbook -- Alfred's Essentials of Music Theory (I will specify level)
-Binder (for music) and notebook or
