*** Lesson Details *** I am pretty easygoing, because I realize that students probably have a lot of homework, jobs, children to raise, etc. I believe that music should be enjoyable as well as educational! I also know that when a student practices, it heightens their enjoyment of music because it is far more fulfilling. I can guarantee that if you work with me as hard as I work with a student, you will feel excellent about your progress and ability! I have experience teaching people on the autism spectrum and those with Down Syndrome.
*** Studio Equipment *** Two keyboards. Roland RD-150 and a Casio Privia. Both are 88 keys. They are stacked, Rick Wakeman-style. Student may choose which one to play, as long as it is appropriate for their size. CD player, music stands.
*** Travel Equipment *** I can provide literature, with financial compensation from the student or guardians. I can bring a CD player, but need a piano or keyboard to be in the home if I am to provide piano or voice lessons. Student must have their own flute.
*** Specialties *** Whole voice, patient teaching of all ages and personalities, jazz, musical theatre, classical, pop. I teach all levels of flute and voice, and beginners to intermediate piano

The Sing Your BEST Self studio mission is to foster empowered, confident, healthy and beautiful performers, through skills building, personalized technique and applied performance. While students will be challenged to meet progress goals, each session is structured to be lively and enjoyable.
Melissa has been singing all of her life. She began her vocal training at a very cute age, learning every song she heard, and passionately performing them for friends and family. She later went on to pursue a formal education in Classical Vocal Performance and Jazz technique from California State University, Los Angeles. While completing her Bachelors degree, Melissa was fortunate to have worked with many established artists, bands and producers of various styles, including jazz, blues, rock, pop, soul and funk. These collaborations have allowed her to hone her own voice and successfully pu
rsue professional work.
Melissa has enjoyed the opportunity of lead local elementary school music programs, and has most recently expanded her private vocal studio Sing Your BEST Self to include skills training in piano, music theory and ear training.
Melissa specializes in LIVE improvisational performance, and can be seen performing under a stage name around the Ventura County and Los Angeles areas. Additionally, She is an accomplished songwriter, and has lent her voice to many recording projects, art collaborations, as well as, T.V. and Film.
*** Lesson Details *** I thoroughly enjoy sharing what I've learned about music. In my voice studio, students will master the fundamentals of the voice to ensure natural, healthy singing. In my teaching approach, I seek to provide a complete experience, in which, standard vocal technique is taught with the whole singer in mind, with specific attention to the individual students needs and goals.
Singing should be enjoyable for the singer as well as the listener. Helping students to experience that joy is my intention. Music lessons are fun, energetic, and productive. You will become an empowered musician and learn to Sing Your BEST Self!
*** Studio Equipment *** recording studio/performance space: students of all ages, keyboard, mirror, stools, dry erase board
*** Travel Equipment *** Onsight lessons are at teacher's discretion and are reserved for advanced students, and pre-arranged coaching sessions related to student learning goals.
*** Specialties *** I am classically trained singer and teach from that method. I perform Jazz/ blues, soul/ funk and can teach these styles with applied pedagogy. I perform often and would also enjoy coaching in more modern styles of music that require microphone and stage technique. Additionally, hands on vocal recording technique would be of interest to me.

Melissa J is patient, warm, and intelligent
I can easily recommend Melissa J. She is bright, warm, patient and enthusiastic about teaching music. Our son instantly connected with her, and he has remembered every single thing she has taught him. If he had his way, he would take a lesson with her everyday! Big thanks !

I have enjoyed our sessions temendously and have gained a new found sense of confidence. Thank you!
I have a side specialty in accent reduction for both actors and singers who need to minimize their accents quickly.
Just a couple of seasons ago one of my amazing students, Juliana Chahayed made top 40 on American Idol! 2 of my students recently made it through two rounds of The Voice. 12 of my students sang on the Grammy Award nominated "Hurry Up, We're Dreaming" by M83. My students have also gotten into top music programs at Berklee College of Music, NYU, USC, Brandeis and Cal State University Northridge; won 1st prize in the high school talent show and money prizes in community singing contests. My singers have sung the Star Spangle Banner at Staples Center for a Clipper's game and produced success
ful showcases in the LA area. My story starts a while back: As a singer/songwriter my experiences singing live from Bud Friedman's Improv to the Disneyland Hotel and in studios all across Los Angeles eventually took me to Europe where I landed in Brussels and recorded an album for Sony Records/Belgium which produced three radio hits in the 90's. I also recorded and/or wrote jingles for Coca Cola, Fanta, Schwepes, Fisher Price and more! Fluent in French, when I moved back to the states I taught at Lycee International de Los Angeles for 12 years where I developed a music program for their 4 campuses, teaching K through 12, including commendations from everyone from French President Sarkozy to Los Angeles Councilman Tom LeBonge. I've recorded 6 children's CD's and recently directed and arranged background vocals for renown French singer and actress Charlotte Gainsbourg. In my private practice I have prepared and developed singers for live performance, personal development and for the rigors of auditioning process. And we always have fun!!
*** Lesson Details *** Learn to play the voice! I have developed my own special brand of singing lessons using breathing and placement techniques to provide the tools you need to develop as a vocalist and help you make the choices of an artist. How do you want to tell your story? My lessons will help you build confidence and every lesson will bring you a new piece of understanding and practical know-how. You will work hard, play hard, build a repertoire, and make tangible improvements in every single lesson! Success breeds success. If you want to audition for The Voice or simply enjoy the applause at karaoke night, I can bring you closer to your goal. I can also include beginning piano which can only add to your skills including an understanding of music vocabulary and the basic mechanics of music theory.
*** Studio Equipment *** Music Room, and recording studio, piano, guitars, computer and cd, ipod docs. Parents are welcome to stay for lessons or run to close-by Starbucks, Costco or Home Depot!
*** Travel Equipment *** I use a piano to teach both voice and beginning piano.
*** Specialties *** I use solfege, breathing and placement techniques filtered through an emphasis on real world performance skills. Helping the student build confidence is probably one of the teachers' most important roles. Creating a safe environment is key to keeping the lesson fun, productive and challenging. Every single student should leave every single lesson with a tangible feeling of progress.

We have been absolutely thrilled with the results that we've seen in our two boys' abilities since working with Toni for the past year and a half. They are both in their high school's show choir and we couldn't be happier with this year's accomplishments. Our freshman earned major solos in his group's competition set and has also earned a spot in next year's Advanced Show Choir group which mostly consists of seniors. As far as our senior son, Toni helped him with his confidence in his singing ability, and helped him secure a solo in his final show choir performance. He also joined a band with his friends and was more than thrilled to be selected as the front man.
We asked our boys if they wanted to take a break for the summer, they both said "No" and that they wanted to continue with Toni throughout their summer vacation.
Thank you Toni - you're simply the best!

Toni is the single most amazing teacher and person I have ever had the pleasure of coming across. In the months that I have been taking lessons, not only has my singing improved, but also my confidence. She made me realize that the voice is an instrument and is teaching me exactly how to use it. If you want to improve and learn all while having the pleasure of being with an amazing person, then Toni is perfect for you. She definitely is perfect for me and all her other students!
Jessica B. has been a performer and a singer since she was a child. In addition to studying piano from age 7, she began performing with musical theater, singing in local productions such as The Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof, and The Music Man, where she gained valuable stage experience. It was during this time that Jessica first realized her passion for teaching, as she found she enjoyed helping the other performers work on their music and help them achieve their greatest potential as a performer. In high school, Jessica continued to perform in musical theater as well as choir, and b
egan taking private voice lessons, where she started studying classical voice. After college, Jessica pursued her Masters in Vocal Performance from California State University, Northridge, where she gained experience in performing opera and also studied vocal pedagogy (the science of teaching voice!). It was in her vocal pedagogy class that Jessica discovered her talent and passion for teaching! Jessica is a creative, flexible, adaptable teacher, who puts the student first. Jessica's first concern is always the vocal health of the student, and uses that as the basis for teaching a safe and healthy technique that will preserve the student's voice for years to come. Although Jessica specializes in musical theater and classical voice/opera, Jessica teaches any style of music, including pop, jazz, and R&B. In order to really experience Jessica's teaching style, please book a trial lesson!
*** Studio Equipment *** Piano or keyboard
*** Travel Equipment *** A piano or keyboard is necessary for voice lessons. If the student doesn't have access to a piano or keyboard at their home, I would prefer that they come to my studio in Hidden Hills where I have a piano and a wonderful room with fantastic acoustics where I teach.
*** Specialties *** Opera and musical theater are my specialties, but I do teach any style, including pop, jazz, R&B, etc.

Stephanie is a very talented teacher. I made lots of progress in just my first few lessons in confidence and my voice. She has specific
techniques that you can use right away and gives homework to do each week. I like how she has lots of exercises in her repetoire and keeps on top of her e-mails and messages. Highly recommend."

"Thank you, Vanessa Pace!
THANK YOU, VANESSA!
A year ago when I was shopping for a voice teacher, Take Lessons provided a wide selection of viable option
s. As a senior adult, I was feeling a need to clarify my "Call" in life, and to return to some of the personal strengths that I hope to continue using in the last 1/3 of my life. In my profile I indicted I was looking to maintain the voice that has been a part of every aspect of my life from theatre to singing, to preaching, to creating radio spots. When I mentioned that goal to Vanessa in our first meeting she countered: âWe wonât just maintain it, weâll restore it!â What a confidence booster that was!
Although my life work mostly involves speaking, I also have a love of singingâsomething I have participated in one way or another for the last 50 years. I wanted to overcome the âold ladyâ vibrato syndrome if possible and to be able to sing without concern that those within earshot would shudder.
In addition, I was looking for certain attributes in a teacher: ⢠A person who is at my stage of life or beyond. ⢠A person who is knowledgeable in both singing and speech. ⢠A person with a personal teaching style that is positive and encouraging.
ENTER VANESSA PACE!
Vanessa is confident and knowledgeable. In addition, she has customized my learning program to suit my current objectives, which have changed from one week to the next depending upon my professional assignments from work and my personal creative pursuits.
In this year Vanessa brought me to a point of âbreaking throughâ inhibitions and moving beyond what I thought Iâd be able to do. Her constant use of cues to put me on track with the use of my voice has been invaluable! She compared letting sound pass through the vocal cords (without strain) in the same way breath becomes music through a clarinet. Using words like âPull up your spineâyouâre two inches taller!â; and reminders to draw on the strength of (underused) larger muscles to support the efforts of diaphragm have been helpful in numerous practical matters of everyday life.
Vanessa is inspiring in that she is a life-long learner and passionate about things to the degree that she invests in them with intelligent research, attention to science, and a spiritual passion that drives her to draw out the best in her students in similar fashion.
If you are looking for a voice teacher, Vanessa will work with you where you are--and help you move toward the goal of where you are hoping to be.
I am thanking God this Thanksgiving Season for Vanessa Pace.

"I am a dentist and my wonderful assistant was having trouble communicating with patients. Her voice was flat and monotone and she would freeze up when as
ked a question. Outside of work her voice and personality was completely different, and I wanted to see it come out when she worked with our patients. She did 5 online lessons with Eulis using Skype. I noticed a difference immediately, she was more confident and her personality began to show in her voice. I am very happy with the results and my assistant has stated that this has helped her in both her personal and professional life. She is no longer freezing up when asked a difficult question and is speaking in a more direct and purposeful way. Thank you Eulis!"
