Amanda S.

New York, NY

I will cater to what each individual needs, working with dance material you already know teach you choreography to achieve the following:

-provide personalized feedback to help improve technical and artistic growth.

- give tools to improve and deepen your understanding of technique

- explain how to connect your expressiveness with your technique

My style is very supportive and direct. I believe that to improve as a dancer you need personal feedback and hard work. I am very passionate about sharing what I know to help other dancers reach their goals.

About Amanda

I am currently dancing with the Paul Taylor 2 Dance Company and on faculty teaching at the Paul Taylor School. While maintaining a professional dance career in New York City, I have been passionate about teaching dance for the past 9 years.

I have taught Master Classes and Intensive Workshops in the Paul Taylor style throughout the nation, as well as teaching Vaganova Ballet at the Joffrey Ballet School. I have taught in numerous public schools through teaching residencies with Rioult Dance Company and Education In Dance. I believe these experiences have taught me how to assess individuals
quickly and provide clear feedback in a positive and supportive way.

My teaching style is energetic, and focused on the personal experience each dancer is having, while giving direct and clear feedback. My goal is to help students reach their artistic potential in their dancing by helping to combine technique with lyricism, rhythmic dynamics and emotive qualities.

Private lessons can be catered toward each individual. Either for an upcoming audition, feedback on solo or ensemble choreography, to help personalize technical corrections and to help push technique to a higher level, or for non dancers to help understand movement and feel comfortable in a beginning class.

Deirdre T.

New York, NY

I have performed and choreographed in a wide variety of styles - from musical theatre, baroque, flamenco, modern, and ballroom for over 35 years.

About Deirdre

I have been playing the piano since I was young. I have a special love of Spanish music, both classical and Flamenco, but I also play Bach every day. I began to perform Flamenco as a dancer and percussionist about 25 years ago. For 18 years, I produced the internationally touring Dance on Camera Festival, the pre-eminent dance film festival produced by the Film Society of Lincoln Center. As a writer, I have been published in over 15 publications. Currently, I write for The Dance Enthusiast, an on-line web magazine, and Eye on the Arts. Since 2004, I have taught dance in the 5 boroughs through
City Center in the public school system so I am happy to teach children and adults of all ages.

Sasha is a trained teacher. You can tell she knows how to TEACH dance not just dance well. She is flexible with your learning style but will present 3 methods of learning simultaneously - visually performing your moves with you, auditorally counting out loud to you, and making you repetitively perform the moves while she monitors your technic. Or, she'll let you do what you feel most comfortable with so you have the most fun. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking to learn Dance at any level.

My fiance and I wanted to learn a dance for our wedding. Neither of us had dance experience and had no idea what to expect. We gave Sasha our wedding song, and she put together an awesome routine! She is extremely flexible and professional. If we didn't like certain moves she would come back the next week with new ideas. I would highly recommend her if you're in a similar situation.

Carolyn is truly an amazing person and acting coach. I was beginning to think that I was too old to pursue my passion of becoming an actor. However, after a few lessons with Carolyn I believe that age is truly just a number and as long as one is dedicated, believes in themselves and keeps there eye on the prize their is no cut off when it comes to attaining ones dreams. Carolyn takes pride in her work and will steer you in the right direction.
