As a classically trained singer I have a lot of experience in Italian, German, Latin and English. Mozart, Vivaldi, and many Oratorio's and Aria's are part of my experience.
I started taking piano lessons at age 6, learned to read music and play mostly classical, my first pop song was Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves by Cher, remember that great riff at the beginning? I was beyond thrilled to actually play it myself. These are the kind of experiences I seek to provide my students, enjoying the thrill of actually making music, not just going over mundane head information. I do combine learning by ear with reading music, teaching theory along with the music making as well. Music is really simple, repetitive and easy to learn. It's a life long gift you give yourself
and others. I started singing seriously in 9th grade, I had the greatest teacher, in fact he turned my life around because I had been running with the wrong crowd, but now that he told me I could sing I had a reason to straighten myself up and he made me feel like my talent was worth something. I grew in confidence and entered college as a double major, voice and piano. I enjoy teaching singing because it's so personal and I help people figure out a lot about themselves and singing through our lessons together. I teach people how to balance their voice through exercises and specially picked songs that extend the exercises into 'real life'. It only takes a few lessons for my voice students to experience positive change in their voices and their lives. Teaching music is a beautiful way to live. I invite you to experience this beautiful gift with me!
*** Lesson Details *** For both piano and voice students I will evaluate where you are first and then I use Faber for a lot of my piano students because it has nice graphics, fun activities, moves at a good pace, not too slow, not too fast. If the student has already studied I ask them to bring the music they already have and we proceed forward from there. The voice students are also evaluated and then informed about their tendencies and given excersises to help them learn new, better tendencies. Songs are assigned for student to learn and hopefully enjoy. Regular practice is expected from the beginning and I give award and incentives for it to get you started right.

Learn the best in vocal technique from a highly qualified voice teacher.
All of my past experiences lead into my real passion: Teaching. Whether it's conducting throughout Europe or singing as featured soloist with the Stuttgart Symphony Orchestra and Oregon Symphony, I use past experience to teach students about musical and healthy singing techniques. I am currently a Doctoral candidate at UNLV. I am excited to incorporate new instructional techniques into my teaching that I learned from conventions and coursework.
Most of all, I believe that singing should be a fun expression of yourself. It should be an outlet for creation no matter the skill or age level
of the singer.
I hold a Master of Education degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where I specialized in Secondary Vocal Music. I obtained my Bachelor of Arts degree in Music (Vocal Performance and Choral Conducting) from Oregon State University. I am an active choral director and singer in the Las Vegas Valley and sing opera semi-professionally.
*** Lesson Details *** Breathing is the key to singing and speaking. After a few months in my studio, a student will know how to sing healthfully and on the breath. If a student wants to focus on more popular styles like rock, pop, or country, I can instruct you on the best ways to maintain vocal health and increase the power, range and agility of your voice. If a student wants to sing in one of the major Classical languages (Italian, German, or French) I have extensive training in the pronunciation of each.
I have taught singer/songwriters how to convey their creative images. I have also taught adult singers how to contribute more of their own sound to their community or church choirs. All doors are open for a healthful singer!

Coming from a very unsuccessful experience with a previous voice teacher, Zeffin put me right, right away. Margo explained to me that some performers can be in their 30s or 40s before reaching full vocal maturity. She immediately took me under her wing which has resulted in near perfect pitch.
