Kyle S.

Portland, OR

I've spoken English my whole life, and have been published twice.

About kyle

Hey! My name is Kyle S. and I'm incredibly passionate about music education for all ages. Over twenty years of playing all instruments has taught me there is not one specific way to teach music, so I change my curriculum for every student and completely customize what you learn to how you learn, and what you're interested in. I started teaching music lessons in after school programs when I was eleven and fell totally in love. I continued to do this for many years driving to neighboring towns, volunteering at church youth groups and local Boys and Girls Club all around my hometown. I went on to study Music Education at Oregon State University and Guitar Performance at the University of Oregon and Jazz Performance on Guitar at Portland State University! At each of these Universities

Kyle's strengths lie in finding out where the student is, and then teaching to that level as well as inquiring and embracing the curiosity of the student. Whether you're there to learn the basics or to explore writing and "feeling into" music, Kyle is a great guide. I have appreciated him and recommend him wholeheartedly.

I've had 4 different guitar teachers in the past and none of them teaches like Kyle does. I can feel that Kyle has a very vast but deep understanding in music, but more importantly he knows how to convey his knowledge to a student, which is an ability many teachers lack. Kyle would change his way of teaching according to different students, and I know this because he integrates piano into my guitar lessons due to my past experience with a piano, and it helps so much.

Kyle is very patient and approachable, but has just the perfect amount of sternness to keep pushing you forward.

Learn with Kyle, you won't regret it.

Thank you Kyle :)

Kyle has been teaching my 9 year old and 5 year old kiddos piano. He has taught my 9 year old more music theory than she's learned in all three years she's been taking lessons elsewhere. Highly recommended!!

Peter L.

Portland, OR

About Peter

Hello! This is Pete LM, a pianist from the New York City area. I graduated from the Purchase College conservatory of music this winter with a B.M. in Jazz Studies. While in New York, I taught many students from ages five to sixty. Teaching piano has been a big part of my life for around eight years, and I am very passionate about helping people to learn to make music. At school, I was very involved in history, geography, civics and writing in school and have received honors in these subjects. I have traveled to many different countries and love meeting new people. Every lesson for each student will be completely individual; I will work with YOU to figure out what you want out of the lessons and we will work together to achieve it!

Kyle M.

Oregon City, OR

I've been teaching English for over 8 years, and look forward to helping you succeed! I work with beginner, intermediate, and advanced students. My students enjoy the custom curriculum that fits their needs and wants. I specialize in grammar instruction, but always make sure lessons are practical and fun. Together we'll explore the "code" of English, and how best to use it to express yourself. Communication and understanding are the goals!

About Kyle

I am a highly motivated ESL teacher looking to continue my career here in Oregon. I have over 8 years experience teaching English as a second language (one & a half of those years being overseas), a Bachelor's Degree in communication, two TESOL certifications, and a deep love for helping others. I've spent time learning Chinese, German, Spanish, and Thai so I have some insight on the difficulties of learning another language. I understand the complexities of how English works, and I try to break it down to understandable steps, without losing the overall feel and meaning. I want my students to be able to think in English, understanding that it allows for a lot of flexibility and fun. I want them to learn not only rules and vocabulary, but how to communicate to those around them, ...

Elizabeth H.

Vancouver, WA

I am available to tutor all areas of English: literature, grammar, essay writing, and creative writing.

About Elizabeth

I am a senior at George Fox University majoring in English and Spanish. For three semesters I have worked as a consultant in my university's writing center. I love helping students in all aspects of the writing process, from brainstorming to the final editing stages. My goal is to teach students to become confident, self-sufficient writers. I am available to tutor Spanish courses as well, including high school Spanish I, II, III, and IV, as well as college level beginner and intermediate Spanish courses. We will work together not only to perfect grammatical concepts and implement new vocabulary, but also to practice circumlocution and improve conversational ...
