Incredible Sacramento Singers!

By Elizabeth S. - Sacramento Singing Teacher

Hello, my name is Elizabeth S. and I teach singing lessons in Sacramento. It gives me such joy to be able to help others accomplish their goals in singing and help them succeed. There are so many benefits to taking singing lessons. I want to share with you what it is like to be a singer and teach singing lessons in Sacramento.

I am currently on staff at New Song Church in Lincoln, where I am the music associate. It is such a great opportunity. There, I am able to lead choir rehearsals, teach parts and lead worship. I graduated from William Jessup University in Rocklin, where I had so many incredible singing experiences - one of which included singing for former First Lady Laura Bush! I have been involved in many areas in the Sacramento music scene. One of the areas where I am involved is in an arts competition for teens, where I will serve as an adjudicator. I look forward to doing this every year; it is such an awesome experience to give teens advice they can use to help expand and develop their singing abilities.

There are many different music scenes and venues for singers in Sacramento, one of which is the Best of Broadway. This is a nonprofit organization which allows kids, teens and adults to audition for and perform in live theater shows. Every year, they do a musical review of a collection of Broadway songs. There are also select members that participate in other smaller productions throughout the year. The Music Circus, another Broadway production which pays its singers, is another great opportunity for singers to participate in and a great goal to strive for if you are a singer in Sacramento.

Teaching singing lessons in Sacramento is both challenging and rewarding for me. I have the opportunity to help others reach their goals and succeed in life, and this job also allows me to be a stay at home mom with my six month old baby girl. I am a very positive and uplifting teacher. I believe that no good ever comes from being harsh and condescending to my students. I do challenge my students in order for them to receive growth in their musical abilities; however, I always put a positive spin on everything I teach. One of the greatest benefits of teaching is having a student come back excited and uplifted because they were able to accomplish something they never thought they could.

I firmly believe that no one is ever too young or too old to enhance their musical ability. So if you have a desire to expand your singing abilities, then I encourage you to take the next step and challenge yourself in singing lessons. You will probably be pleasantly surprised in what you find inside of you. If you are interested in singing lessons in Sacramento, give us a call and begin your journey!

Dave is incredible with my 9 year old. He began lessons with my son after he had already went through a year of playing with another teacher and got him on the correct path to success. Dave is patient and gives the perfect amount of push. The most enjoyable part to see is them jam together and see both their love for music.

Esther B.

Sacramento, CA

Alexandria Technique, Vocal Performance, Solfege Skill, Vocal Structure:vowel structure, appoggiatura, how to developing for the abdominal muscles properly etc...

About Esther

I'm Esther, a very enthusiastic musician. I started out teaching myself piano and singing in a choir at the age of 9. I moved to the U.S. in 1992 and studied music for 10 years receiving my B.M. & M.M in music at California State University of Sacramento. I studied and trained with Claudia Kitka & Jackie Victorino for voice and Kirsten Smith, Joan McDe, & Angel Mamn for piano. I have performed many solo concerts in the U.S. as well as South Korea.

I find a student's strengths and weaknesses using various ways to encourage each student. I am very patient, kind, flexible, and enthusiastic
and I love working with children as much as adults. I strongly support basic skills: sight-reading, pitch and tone.

I have 30 years experience teaching kids and adults private piano and 6 yrs voice coaching (early period to contemporary). I speak fluent Korean and English.

*** Lesson Details ***
My objectives: to help students powerfully communicate through the essence of music and aid the development of children and adults by finding their strengths and weaknesses and to develop their skills and show their musical talents. I emphasize basic skills, good sight-reading, and Solfege skills (Do-Re-Me...etc), vocal technique, vocal performance, and Alexandria technique. Students participate in their own recital and show their musical talents.

Lessons are held at either your home, or mine using composers from various time periods that speaks to the individual student.
Also,I do prefer to work a weekly student.
A beginner lesson may be 10-15 min. for warm-ups and scales, 10-15 min. theory and 10 min. playtime. In three to six months the student will be able to read sheet music and should be able to perform simple songs.

An intermediate lesson is longer, 45-50 min., with more focus on music from a specific chosen time-period. A specialty is preparation for voice and piano auditions for entering college.

I enjoy teaching children from age 5 up to adults. I also can teach beginner guitar.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Piano, electronic keyboard, guitar.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Guitar

*** Specialties ***
I teach the basic skills very strongly, and also encourage students and, challenge them, as well.
I also have new techniques for teaching voice and piano.
I do prefer to teach a weekly lesson.

Ms. Esther is an excellent teacher! She is very good with my son who is very shy: three lessons in and my son already asked me when we will be going back to Ms. Esther for his next lesson! I have also observed the lessons and I am confident Ms. Esther knows what she is doing. We will definitely be staying on with her😊

This was not my daughter's first lesson with Katherine. My daughter took lessons from Katherine a few months ago, and I stayed a couple of times. Katherine is very competent in knowing what skills my daughter needed to work on, and she is so wonderful with children!

Susan is an amazing instructor! She started out with some beginning material but quickly increased the difficulty as she gauged my experience. She came to my home and we started right away. My 3 month old daughter was asleep in her nursery and didn't make a peep. The convenience of her coming to my home so that I can do something for fun as a new mom is so amazing! I feel like I've known her forever! I'm looking forward to her sending me songs that she thinks will sound good with my voice! I'm so excited for Lesson #2!

Kevin B.

Sacramento, CA

I've been teaching voice for 1 year and my students have gone on to become much more competent singers. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to establish a sound that is good for you and as time goes on you'll be able to hone in and make that sound really work. I also have Audio-Technica ATR2500-USB Cardioid Condenser USB Microphone so we can record your lessons, or make recordings of a piece. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

About Kevin

I've been teaching private lessons for the past year and am very passionate about my students - making you succeed is my life's blood and whatever your goal is, that's my goal too! I've performed in many different musicals and operas in Sacramento, and been hired to sing professionally both as a soloist and a chorus singer. I went to California State University, Sacramento and earned my Bachelor of Arts in Music in 2015. I've since been very active in the music theatre scene in Sacramento, and my music theatre students love me! I'd love to see what we can do to make you a great singer!

Kevin is friendly, easy to talk to, and very knowledgeable about music theory. He's also an active performer, so that experience applies to his lessons. I strongly recommend Kevin for early beginners and advanced theory students.
