I have been playing drums since I was eight years old. Since then, I've had to learn a lot of things about the instrument- some things the hard way. Let me teach you the easy way! I strive to instruct students in a fun, casual, and entertaining way. Practicing is very important, but it shouldn't be torture, staying interested and motivated is the name of the game. One overall goal I have in instruction of my students is to produce musical drummers. Too many young drummers fall into the trap of only listening to themselves while playing. Listening to the larger ensemble and playing musically is essential, and a skill I focus on in my instruction. You'll be able to play a basic drum beat after the first lesson, and I guarantee by the time we part ways- you'll know what it means to be THE drummer and not just A drummer.

I went to Christopher Newport University for percussion performance and music education, and after graduating in 2012, have been working as a musician and music educator in Virginia for several years. If any of you have been to Busch Gardens or Kings Dominion since 2010, you may have seen me in a show or two. I also play regular gigs around the Richmond and Hampton Roads areas. My teaching experience includes previous private lessons (I'm just now giving this website a try!), and teaching sixth grade percussion at Guildersleeve Middle School in Newport News. I also was one of the instructors for the Bruton High School ...
