Teaching since 1987 Larry K.has had great success with his students some even have had the chance to move on to movies and theater and perform professionally as Larry had for 20 years. Some have even sung with stars such as Martina McBride live during a concert. As did Missy Hanrahan. Larry takes great pride in investing in his students and helping them to attain a level of excellence! LKVS also works toward helping students get represented well by helping them create there own audio/video demos. Encouraging them to write there own music, Larry even co-writes songs with students to help them find there own musical identity.
This course will vary depending on the students interests. For beginners we will cover the basics of the instrument and begin reading music. For intermediate and advanced player we will be digging into more improvisation and theory.
I received my first guitar eighteen years ago and have been playing seriously for thirteen. Seven of these years I have been teaching a variety of students from different skill levels and ages. Currently I teach at Double Bar Music in Westport, MA Mondays and Fridays and will be directly a guitar camp this summer at the South Dartmouth YMCA. I also provide in-home lessons seven days a week. I am a professional audio engineer and instrumentalist. I have a B.S. in Sound Recording Technology from DePaul University in Chicago. I currently hold two weekly teaching positions; low-brass instructor at Woonsocket High school and low-brass instructor at Hendricken High School in Warwick, RI. I am also a tenor section leader/cantor at St. Augustine's Church in Providence and I also perform acoustic guitar and bass guitar on Sunday evenings at St. Brendan's Church in Riverside, RI.
