Whether you're a beginner, advanced player, or just want to learn new techniques and different styles of music, I can help you reach your goals and have fun with your instrument!

About Mariel
I was born in Mexico City and have been playing violin for 17 years. I received my degree in Music Education from Brigham Young University, and have been teaching people of all ages and levels for 7 years.

My main goal for my students is to help them build the very solid basics of their instrument. With my training and experience with string instruments, I can help them develop a good sound that will give them the confidence to continue their studies and perform for others. Although my training has been mostly in classical music, I have had experience teaching all kinds of genres such as co
untry, bluegrass, and pop.

I will do all that it takes to help you be satisfied with your progress and help you reach your goals!

What a joy Mariel is. So patient and understanding, puts up with my bad jokes, terrible playing and allows me to go where I want to go with the material.
I can not speak highly enough about her, but I will say I don't think any one could be better than she is.
Thanks for putting up with me Mariel

I am a string specialist. That means I teach and play violin, viola, cello, double bass, guitar, bass guitar, mandolin, ukulele and piano. I earned B.A. earned from the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley Colorado where I was a double major in classical guitar and double bass. In my senior year I was the recipient of the Annual Concerto Contest where I performed the "Concerto in A Major" on double bass with the University orchestra for the spring concert. I have played in both professional and semi-professional orchestras in Colorado and Arizona. I believe that any student will practice more if he or she likes the music they are playing. Periodically I will ask a student to give me a name of a piece of music that they would like to learn how to play. I notate it for them, often simplifying the rhythm and chords in Finale NotePad and give it to them free of charge. I teach students how to play music on their given instrument. Victor is an excellent teacher. He teaches music that I am interested in, and tailors lessons to my skill level. He has a strong background in music theory, and has done a great job of helping me grasp concepts that I have never understood before. As an beginning adult student, I could not have found a better teacher.

My training in violin and viola comes from distinguished performers in the classical music community. I have studied with Nicholas Cords (of Brooklyn Rider), Lawrence Dutton (of the Emerson String Quartet), Karen Ritscher, Brett Deubner, and Nancy Buck. My teachers have been taught by some of the most eminent string pedagogues of their generation, including Dorothy Delay, Karen Tuttle, Lilian Fuchs, Harvey Shapiro, and Heidi Castleman. This broad survey of teaching styles and philosophies gives me a great breadth of knowledge which I apply to all of my students.

Whether it be beginners, who are just learning the basics of sound production and proper posture, or advanced students, who are preparing for solo competitions or orchestral and chamber performances, my students will feel empowered and strengthened by their studies with me.

I hold the same approach for all my students at any level. All my viola students will:
-be empowered by their viola technique, through diligent ...

About Sarah
Hi, my name is Sarah and I would love to teach you to become a better musician.

I began teaching at the Nevada Blind Children's Foundation as a piano instructor in my senior year of high school. Since then, I have taught as a music teaching assistant at Stony Brook University and a violin, viola, and cello teacher at Music & Arts in Mount Sinai.

I am currently the viola studio teaching assistant under Professor Nancy Buck at the Arizona State University School of Music.

I aim to teach my students more than just the basics. My students should expect to master: how to play their instru
ment most efficiently, body awareness, relaxed and proper posture, musicality and thoughtful phrasing, some aspects of music theory and ear training, stage presence, and more.

Most importantly, I will help my students grow more confident in their musical abilities. My goal is to help nurture my students' musical talents and help them grow into their potential.

As a former collaborative musical partner working with Katryn, I give her my highest recommendation. During every professional encounter, I witnessed her high integrity, thoughtfulness, hard/thorough work ethic, clear communication, effective use of time, and professionalism. As a fellow music instructor, I can also vouch for her incredible commit to her students and their success. Katryn formulates a unique curriculum for each student and even frequently arranges/composes her own exercises tailor-made to specific students' needs. She is a goal-oriented teacher and can teach all ages and learning styles in both one-on-one and group settings.

Katryn is a passionate musician and exemplary teacher. Her musical knowledge and abilities combine with her skill as a motivator and coach to young children! As a band and music teacher myself, I needed a high-quality private teacher for my own children, and I couldn't have asked for a better teacher than Katryn.

I am band teacher that has had the opportunity of taking on an elementary strings program. My experience in string pedagogy is limited to basic techniques classes. I hire Katryn to come in on a weekly basis to assist with large group instruction, we well as privately working with myself. She is respectful of all classroom procedures and expectations that I have set with students. She demonstrates utmost professionalism in all interactions. Katryn is a valuable asset to the success in the students' string education.
