I offer a fun, interactive teaching style that encompasses more than 20 years of performing and 15 years of teaching experience. About Carol
I've sung most of my life. I've been teaching since 1991. I listen to a lot of different singers but my real passion is jazz, Brazilian music and blues. I've performed in the US as well as England and Scotland. I also have recorded 2 Cd's.

I teach many different styles of music and work with beginners to advanced. Both of my teaching studios are equipped with a P.A. system so that students can also work on their performance skills.

What's the first lesson like? When I first meet a new student I ask about what experience they've had singing. Even beginners sing in the shower or along
with their favorite CD's.

Finding out what kind of music the student listens to and wants to sing is also a big part of the first lesson. I find that it is more motivating and fun to work on songs that the students enjoy.

It's good for me to know if they feel strain, tension or raspiness. I explain a little about how the vocal cords work, visualizing or picturing the action of the vocal cords and the muscles that work with them.

I encourage students to find their own images that they can relate to. We work on breathing, increasing range and power through vocal exercises. I record exercises at the lesson and give the student their own practice CD to work on during the week.

Working on songs is equally important. Knowing how to get the sound that is uniquely your own and expressing yourself without strain or damage to the vocal cords.

Do any of the following things interest you? Increased range and power, ear training, song writing, breath management, music theory, or improved performance skills? Try a lesson. It's rewarding and fun!

*** Lesson Details ***
I have a warm down to earth approach to voice lessons. I'm laid back and very patient. This doesn't mean that I'm not demanding of my students. I'll help you find the best way to find practice time and enjoy the journey. In a few weeks you'll notice an easier time hitting those higher notes. In a few months you'll be singing songs with more freedom. You'll learn breathing, tone quality, how to increase range and power. We'll also work on performance and making a song all your own.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Both studios have a full PA system for singing on mic. Recording lessons or songs is also possible.

*** Specialties ***
music theory, voice, singing, speaking, beginning piano, performance skills
I specialize in jazz though I don't have much call for that. I'm good with most styles except Rap & Opera.
I am a believer in Speech Level singing. I combine methods of Caesari and the methods that both Musician Institute & Los Angeles Music Academy use.

I decided to finally pursue voice lessons, after years of thinking about it but never taking action. Now in middle-age - and not sure exactly what I want to do down the road - I can definitely say that have LOVED working with Carol! I could not have asked for a better teacher to start me on this path. Her knowledge and experience comes through in every lesson, but it is her warm and personal demeanor that helped me believe that I could start on this journey and really enjoy the process. She has a way of connecting with you so that you understand what she's saying, and you can then starting improving under her direction. I would highly recommend Carol and I look forward to continuing with her.

A fun, friendly, and professional Music Instructor at your service for Guitar, Piano, Voice, Bass, & Drums! I have a BA degree from Florida Atlantic University in Music Performance for Classical/Flamenco/Jazz/Blues guitar and I've also performed on the Piano/Keyboards for a couple different bands too. Presently, going back to School to earn a Master's in Music. Love to play & teach pretty much all styles of music! It is always a pure joy & truly rewarding to see my music students grow and flourish as musicians. I have been enjoying doing this now for 16 years- all ages & levels. I am also in a
multi-dimensional rock project and am a recording artist-

I believe it's important to learn the rudiments of music to build a good foundation (scales, chord vocabulary, theory, song-composition, performing techniques), but I also base the lessons on whatever the interests and strengths are for the student. For example, if you enjoy jazz more than classical we'll focus more on what you are particularly passionate about. I have also been a part of School of Rock Programs in which we provided performances for the students a la Jack Black. Please contact Takelessons to let the musical journey begin...

David is really easygoing and so patient. He's helped me to learn some songs in genres I like and I'm comfortable playing along with him in a way that I hadn't been in previous lessons. I'm glad to be learning from him.

About Audrey
Like many singers, I enjoyed singing from a very young age, participating in school plays and performances and singing solos at church. As a teenager, I was a part of a choir in Germany that traveled around Europe performing in opera halls and cathedral churches. I also lived and went to school in South America for a few years in which I performed with ensemble groups and performed special numbers for my church congregation and school every week.

I have taken guitar and piano lessons which has given me a great foundation for singing and song writing!

I have some background in recordin
g in studios as well. I've done "jingles" for local radio stations and have recorded songs I've written with a local music band.

In 2004 I was offered to sign with a local christian record label.

I am a mother of two gorgeous girls and decided to take a break from vocal training for a few years. In the beginning of 2013, I opened my schedule up to train again. Yay!

Having a vocal tech that is compatible with you, stylistically and personality-wise is important! Feel free to request to meet me for a free 30 min interview to get to know me and ask questions!

*** Lesson Details ***
My coaching style is to couple both fun and hard work into my lessons. Having fun and keeping things light at times will help keep a student relaxed and open to try new things and stretch their ability levels. Breathing correctly and staying relaxed are very important in developing your vocal abilities! Hard work and determination ensure we excel in your abilities and reach our goals. I don't want my time wasted and especially not yours!

I enjoy keeping myself relevant and make a point to stay alert to top 100 singer/artists on the charts. It can not only be fun to choose and sing popular songs for a repertoire but it can help give direction on a style of singing if a student is still on the path of self-discovery!

After 3-6 months, with consistent training, you can expect to learn good vocal technique, you will hear yourself make progress and like it, and you will have greater confidence to perform in front of others.

*** Studio Equipment ***
computer keyboard, spare room or living room, seating for parents, access to backing tracks

*** Travel Equipment ***
MAC computer

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in performance for Christian music events. Whether singing in church, leading a music band, special music for a fundraiser/charity, etc. I can help you convey the message your song is meant to convey with confidence and passion without letting your nerves get in the way. (**nerves never go completely away :) I can also help suggest song choices tailoring to the specific "event".
