"I personally have worked with Alexis in the theatre and not only will her joy consume you but the way she is able to work with so many different types of
people and experience is superior. I also have had the opportunity to see her work with young children and in just a few weeks these kids were dropping jaws. Alexis doesn't just do this to stay busy or to make a buck; she loves what she does and has a passion for others to love music as well."

"Alex was my Movement and Voice/Speech instructor in my graduate programme. I had done my undergrad in acting overseas and then moved to LA to complete my
MFA in Acting. In my undergrad programme, I absolutely detested every Tuesday and Friday when we had Movement and Voice...but all that changed when Alex became my teacher for these subjects. Suddenly these were my favourite subjects. She made me actually look forward to going to class at 9am. I looked forward to what I was going to learn next from her.
She was so attentive to ALL her students, no matter your level. She always found time to work with you in whatever you were struggling with. She really truly cared about us. It was unlike anything I'd experienced with any other teacher I'd have ever. At one point, I was victim to some intimidation from another student in my class. Alex was the first person I confided in and she guided me through what I should do and how I should handle it, she was completely there for me, even allowing me to call her past 10pm to calm me down after one particularly bad encounter with said student.
Her lessons are prepared, structured and completely engaging. Somehow she is able to detect exactly what you personally need to work on and makes sure you are offered the most appropriate advice that best suits your personal needs. I can't even quite express how much I have learnt from her in the short four months that she was my teacher. She has exposed me to so many different techniques and exercises which, through her guidance, afforded me the opportunity to choose what worked for me.
If there is one thing that you cannot deny about Alex, she genuinely cares about her students, sometime to the detriment of her own life. She is an extraordinary teacher and an even more exceptional woman.
As cliche as this is, she inspires me to not only be a better actor, but to just be a better person."

Heralded as "a smart, tasteful, and genuine singer" and "a consummate multi-instrumentalist," Matthew continues to perform and broaden his range of musical experiences through diverse engagement in both the classical and non-conventional realms. Matthew has had the great privilege of performing around the world and working with some of today's brightest and most acclaimed singers, ensembles, and conductors such as Leon Botstein, Dale Duesing, Karen Brunssen, James Hall, Warren Jones, Phyllis Hoffman, Pro Arte, Canticum Scholare, and VOCES8.
As an educator, Matthew's 10+ years of teaching e
xperience in voice and drums has brought him to work with young musicians of all ages and skill types. Matthew's approach is technique driven, while at the same time, expressive, musically sensitive, and fun! Matthew's voice students will learn English and foreign language diction, ear training and sight-singing, proper posture, stage presence, confidence, and healthy vocal production suitable for all styles of singing. Drum students will learn the importance of snare drum rudiments, how to read drum charts, the nuances of various styles, as well as, develop dexterity and increase muscular function and independence. Matthew currently teaches voice and theory at Wyoming Seminary Institute in Wilkes-Barre, PA during the Summer, teaches voice at Fairfield School of Music, and owns and operates a full service analog and digital recording studio.
*** Lesson Details *** Being a musician is exciting, challenging, and of course, rewarding. Musicians are communicators; instruments of expression. I'm a firm believer in diligent practice habits and learning the fundamentals of one's craft. From there, the music can happen.
I offer a relaxed, comfortable learning environment that is both fun and productive. A stuffy, tense atmosphere promotes timidness, and insecurity, the opposite of the environment I foster in my studio.
Whether you're a beginner with a passion, or a professional looking to fine tune your proficiency, I can help you get to where you want to be. Diligent, concise, uncomplicated, and fun! That's how I teach.
*** Studio Equipment *** Various keyboards, full 5 piece drum set, full production and recording facility, music scores/sheet music
*** Specialties *** Classically trained vocalist, but can teach all styles and genres of voice. Recording engineer & producer. Versed in many styles of composition. Session drummer.

Really loved my lessons with Matt - from the get go even though he had a super busy schedule he was able to squeeze me in (because I had wanted to work on a project initially that was time-sensitive). He is very knowledgeable about techniques and I learned a lot about what the foundations of singing (starting as a complete beginner) - and feel a lot more comfortable and confident singing after. Matthew is also easy going and pleasant and happy to work on a variety of things (or one thing over and over) and so it's also just fun to take lessons with him! Wish I could continue and get even better but I have to travel soon for work for a period of time - hopefully when I'm back I'll get back to this!

I have a Master's degree in Music Therapy, am a nationally board certified music therapist (MT-BC); performer and vocal instructor (Bachelor's in Classical Voice); certified yoga instructor and meditation guide (200+); certified and attuned Reiki master; professional freelance writer and editor.
...I find joy in a lot of places! And often I find these areas of study inform and augment each other.
Music therapy has afforded me a great deal of experience working with children, teens, and adults with special needs including, autism, Down's syndrome, cerebral palsy, emotional disturbances a
nd developmental delays as well as teens and adults with psychosocial issues, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, grief, ADHD, personality disorders, and more.
I incorporate my experience as a therapist into the educative setting.
As a voice teacher, I want to help my students settle comfortably into their own musicality by showing them the building blocks of a solid technique, drawing particularly from the things that helped me grow as a vocalist. I want my students to feel strong in their body, comfortable and relaxed in their breath, and confident in their performance.
I have worked professionally as an editor of scholarly writing on both the college and post-college level, as well as a professional editor of multiple dissertations, and other publications. Being a creative person, I find language to be a wonderful way to express thoughts and emotions as well as communicate deeply with others.
As a certified yoga instructor, I teach in many locations throughout Westchester. I was trained at Yoga Haven in Scarsdale, New York with Betsy Kase, and earned a 200-hour certificate in Asana, Pranayama, and Meditation. I offer private yoga instruction and meditation at my home studio. My studio comes fully equipped with all yoga props, aromatherapy, and music. Hands-on-assists and personalized classes offered to deepen your experience.
It is a joy to offer Reiki to curious, open clients in need of energy healing. Reiki is a noninvasive energy healing technique totally separate of any religious affiliation and available to anyone. It is a difficult to describe the relaxing, soothing, and deep-healing effects of Reiki to someone who has never experienced.

Jillian has been teaching my teenage son piano for several months. He is always prepared and eager to attend his weekly piano lessons. She has an intuitive ability to connect with him in and make him feel at ease and comfortable. I wish he had started at an earlier age. His musical experiences have certainly exceeded my expectations.

Hi! My name is Barry and I have been teaching for over 10 years in the Fairfield County, CT area. I have had success teaching all ages, styles and abilities, from the most gifted to the physically impaired. I grew up listening to a tremendously wide range of music, and have studied classical flute, rock, jazz and classical guitar, and even the japanese shakuhachi, with some of the great minds of the instruments. I graduated high honors from Queens College with a Masters' in composition, and have had works performed by major acts in the contemporary classical scene. In jazz, I have shared the s
tage and recording studio with the likes of Marc Ribot and William Parker; I have quite a bit of experience as a performer that I bring to my teaching. My passion for music is addictive; I have turned the least motivated students into consummate music lovers. My goal is to find a student's personal musical voice so they have the opportunity to discover where THEIR musical passion lies. Whether it be country, rock and roll, or classical, the long term goal is to both teach the student what they love, as well as expand their musical horizons to discover things they may never have thought they would love.
*** Lesson Details *** I teach in a fairly laid back style with an emphasis on technique, theory making the most of your practice time. Starting with a set curriculum, the material moves into more student chosen songs as the lessons progress. The idea is to communicate the connections between music with the goal of expanding the students ear and teaching them to listen; not just in music but in every aspect of life.
*** Studio Equipment *** room in basement piano, drumset, mixer seating for parents
*** Travel Equipment *** Students should have their own instruments and amplification for electric guitar, music stand and place to take lessons in their home. If they don't, I am knowledgeable of the local music stores and can recommend places to either buy or rent instruments. I provide practice sheets and curriculum.
*** Specialties *** In general, for each instrument I teach I have a cirriculum for the primer/beginning level. Once that level is reached, the direction becomes more student driven; that is if the student responds to classical music (for instance), we will focus on that. As the students interests change, the lesson development changes and the student grows as a musician. That being said, I am primarily a classical pianist, and a jazz/rock guitarist/drummer. While I am a classically trained flautist, much of my gigging and recording experience is with rock bands.

Very good experience.
Barry has great patience....I enjoy my lessons, but I don't always practice as much as I should so I'm not as good at this as I might otherwise be. He makes the learning experience very worthwhile. It makes me want to stick with it. He definitely gets an A+!!

Mary is a Tony nominated writer, actress, and teacher whose Broadway credits include Martha Jefferson in "1776" and Grace Farrell in "Annie". She was a starring soloist In Leonard Bernstein's "Mass" at the Kennedy Center and the Metropolitan Opera and toured as featured vocal with Michel LeGand in concerts including Carnegie Hall. Off Broadway credits include her own musical, âÂÂCradle SongâÂÂ. Former Head of Drama at the Wooster School in Danbury CT, she studied acting with Sanford Meisner in NYC, the Rheinhardt Seminar in Vienna, Austria and has been teaching and directing young and
adult actors for over fifteen years. Former students have appeared on Thirty RockÂÂ, Gilmore GirlsÂÂ, Law and OrderÂÂ and others. She will help pick your material, improve your vocal technique, and coach your song and or monologue beat by beat until you are connected not only to the music, but to the text as well. She has a BA in theatre/voice from the University of Kansas where she serves on the Advisory Board For the Department of Theatre and Film and has an MFA from the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program at NYU Tisch School of the Arts where she is a guest lecturer. She is a member of AEA, SAG/AFTRA, AGMA and The Dramatists Guild. "Ms. Mary is able to reach not only those students who are already excited about theater but inspire those who have no previous knowledge of it. To watch these young men and women become more and more accomplished is a marvelous thing. She inspired them all."...Mark St. Germain, Obie winning playwright.
*** Lesson Details *** In a one hour lesson, we will spend twenty five minutes on vocal exercises designed to teach support and placement. Having performed leads on and Off Broadway, I know that without good technique you can't do eight shows a week, do back to back sets in a nightclub or cabaret or tour as a pop or rock singer. The second half of the lesson is spent on songs. As an acting as well as vocal coach, I focus on dramatics as well as musical interpretation. A singer must be connected to the words as well as the music. I hope to teach you to love singing as much as I do.
*** Studio Equipment *** casio keyboard, speakers, desk, extensive library of scripts and sheet music, internet
*** Specialties *** pop and musical theatre singing college and theatre auditions/monologues and song performance

Mary Phillips is excellent! I highly recommend her. Her knowledge of technique and her ability to explain it's proper applications helped my daughter improve not only her vocal quality but her range. Mary also worked on building her self confidence and attitude. I've notice a significant improvement in her approach to auditions. She is less nervous and more confident in her skills. We had a hard time trying to find an instructor who values someone with a lower range. I wish we had found her earlier!

Mary was an absolute godsend! I started lessons with her to help prepare for college theatre auditions. I was so overwhelmed with the whole process and didn't even know where to begin picking monologues and songs. Mary helped me so much by sending different monologues that she thought would fit and we would go from there. She was always there to answer any questions I had, and I had a lot! She is patient and encouraging and our lessons were always a lot of fun but I also learned so much! I also took voice lessons from Mary and in doing so, my voice has greatly improved and so has my confidence. I just finished all of my auditions and I truly could not have done this without her. I couldn't recommend her more!

I enjoy the group classes. However, it's the private lessons that I enjoy the most. She really tailors her teaching style to fit my learning style and, as a result, I've been able to progress rapidly in just 6 months. I'm learning 4 dances (salsa, bachata, hustle, argentine tango) and I can't wait to learn more!
