I am an international recording artist and seasoned performer. I have been playing music since the early age of 8 yrs old. I have always been inspired by music and love to inspire others with music. Some of my accomplishments include putting an album out with Universal Records as a Nashville recording artist, having over 7 albums out internationally, and recording and playing with some of the biggest names in the music industry. I am a classically trained musician as well as an innovative and experienced teacher. I have been teaching for over 15 years and have seen many of my students go on to
become top-notch performers themselves while pursuing successful careers in music. In addition to being a private music teacher, I have also taught at many schools in the valley including the Center for Educational Excellence School, Grand Canyon Preparatory private charter school and the Arizona Music Academy. I teach all levels of guitar, bass, and drums and tailor every lesson to the individual student’s needs and personality. My annual recitals are live-performance concerts featuring bands and other performing groups formed from among my students along with solo performances. My students also perform regularly throughout the community and are successful in their musical endeavors at all ages. I teach a wide range of genres and styles from classical music, blues, jazz and rock to heavy metal with an emphasis on becoming A-Level lead guitar soloists and song writers. I teach songwriting skills, music theory, and have even helped many of my guitar students be able to sing better while learning their main instrument.
*** Lesson Details *** I make my lessons fun and informative and have had many students stay with me for up to 7 years. I show you everything you will ever need to know about music theory but in a very useful applicable way. I teach popular songs from any artist and classics that have stood the test of time and show you how to become a great song writer of your own giving you an insider’s knowledge about how to perform and have the audience standing asking for more. No matter if you want to become a pro lead guitar player or just play to have fun I can show you how to sing and play the guitar or piano at the same time or singing songs from church as well as your favorite rock or pop songs with confidence.
*** Travel Equipment *** Just my own guitar and amp they need their own equipment.
*** Specialties *** Classical, flamenco, rock, heavy metal guitar. I have also developed new classical guitar techniques that I call the "trem" stroke and the "harpeggio"

Initially impressed with Charles video displaying his prowess with the guitar. Even further impressed with his patience with my over eager 9 yr. Old on her first lesson. And he is a local talent!

My name is Larry, and I was born and raised in Chicago and now call the Phoenix, AZ metro area home. I have two Master's Degrees in Education (Higher Ed. and Teaching and Learning with Technology), and am working on another M.A. currently in History. I have a tutoring business of my own, working with excellent education partners like Takelessons.
My tutoring business is geared towards middle, high school, and college students, and my sp
ecialization is geared in three arenas:
1) The Humanities: History (U.S., European, Oriental, and World), English, Literature (with a special passion for all things Shakespeare), and Social Studies (including American Government and Political Science).
2) Papers: Research papers (and how to do the research for them), essays, creative writing - everything to do with papers you ever wanted to know.
3) Drama (the Theatre kind of drama, not life drama): Acting, directing, staging, analysis, including the aforementioned Will Shakespeare.
***My Promise to You***
I will treat you like an individual - that means that we'll find out how YOU learn best, and we'll work that way. I don't teach "to the test", I don't teach memorization. I teach by asking and answering questions, as well as providing information.
***My Expectation of You***
That you will come with an open mind, come with questions, come with not just the willingness to learn and have fun, but the expectation to do both.
*The Humanities* The reason so many people go screaming into the night when confronted with lessons in things like history, or government, or English for that matter, are all the names and dates to memorize. I don't teach that way. We begin with things you want (or need) to know. From there, we cover how those things affected other things, It's a huge world out there, and how we got here from where we started is a wonderful and complicated trip. History doesn't happen in a vacuum, and we learn who we are by knowing where we come from.
*Papers* Obviously I won't write your paper for you, but I will show you how and where to start your research (and how to sort it as well). I will also proof-read for grammar and/or organizational errors and show you how to structure it in general terms.
*Drama* I have acted, I have directed. From the community to professional levels. We will talk about character creation, about staging, about working with your director as well as your fellow actors. We will mostly brainstorm, and you will be able to experiment in vision as well as technique.

We have very lively discussions which are less like lectures and more like questions and answers. Since Larry is very knowledgeable, he is flexible in where we take our lessons. We've started with Classic Greek but we've also delved into other periods. This makes it quite enjoyable, since it's nice to be able to bounce around at times.

Katheryn is an accomplished pianist/singer (competitively training and performing for over 12 years). She has been teaching private piano/vocal lessons since 2012 – opening her practice to beginners and intermediate students – and eventually joined the East Valley Rocks family in early 2014. There she started the “East Valley Kids Choir” group, organized several summer theater camps and classes, and also began to learn the basics of sound recording and engineering. She has taught multiple choir classes within East Valley schools (including East Valley High School and Bella Vista Prep), in addi
tion to performing piano and vocals on stage – locally and across the states. Katheryn also has a background in the piano industry, giving her the opportunity to explore the fundamentals of the piano business and to learn about the instruments needed to succeed.
Her lessons are structured to accommodate each individuals learning styles. With a classical base, Katheryn is able to provide an extensive theory education for each student in a format they will engage in and fully embrace with confidence. Her unique lesson styles and techniques will keep all children/adults enthusiastic and inspired to expand their music knowledge and keep practicing! Katheryn is currently exploring a variety of universities and colleges to pursue a higher musical education.
