"I wish I could give more stars, that's how much I love Thom as a teacher!!! I was lucky enough to be in one of Thom's on camera classes and it was amazin
g! What I loved about Thom's class is that he used class to both teach a technique and then created the audition environment to put what was taught to use. So, the first half of class was used to learn techniques like eye line for multiple characters in a scene or how to effectively use your frame, etc. Then the second half of class Thom set up an actual audition, everything from the waiting room outside the audition room to slating to exiting the audition room. We would audition with the sides given to us a few days before class and implement the technique being taught that week. It was fabulous because I got to learn new techniques, work a scene, and practice my auditioning skills all in one class. On top of it all I love that Thom is a working actor and brought real life audition and on set knowledge to class. I really appreciated being taught by someone who is patient and truly invested in his student's progress as actors, he is such a caring and wonderful teacher."

"I am very happy to have the opportunity to endorse Lara Hermes for her skills as a teacher, and her talent as an actor. Over the past 35 years I have work
ed on many stage productions with Lara and her mother Barbara, and have seen Lara interact with children of all ages with loving support and understanding. It's easy to say Lara has learned a lot from the years of working with Barbara and her many students, but Lara has always brought her own unique set of skills to teaching and inspiring young performers. I am excited that Lara has taken up the torch in bring the art and joy of stagecraft to Houston's young people once again!"

Art is the absolute BEST!
Art is a wonderful teacher!! He is enthusiastic, reliable, knowledgeable and very personable. I feel extremely fortunate to have found Art to teach my 4 year old daughter.
My daughter has been eager to start learning the piano. I needed to find someone that is able to teach at her young level and to be able to connect with her shy personality. Amazingly, Art is able to make her laugh, smile, learn and have fun all at the same time!
My daughter has fun learning and we often find her practicing on her own at the piano. Actually, she considers it playtime at the piano! She is learning simple songs after just a few lessons. She is very proud of her ability to play and is always eager to see Art so that she can learn more.
I HIGHLY recommend Art as a piano teacher. It is obvious that he loves music, this is evident in his weekly teachings. As a parent, I couldn't be happier!!! Art is setting a firm foundation for our daughter's love for music.

--------------- I also teach Online via Skype or FaceTime! -------------------- Hello! Thanks for visiting my Takelessons profile. Let me start off by telling you a bit about myself: I have been performing for over 20 years as a musician, acting since I was a small boy, and working consistently with public speaking, accent reduction and other presentational skills throughout my career. I started my musical education as a woodwind player and settled in to the wonderful world of singing over time. Music has opened me up to so many incredible opportunities from touring the world to performin
g in marvelous concert halls and working with some of today's most respected artists, as well as giving me the opportunity to expand my performance skills through acting in various plays, musicals, television, and film.
Performing has absolutely been my salvation! Throughout my life it has been a best friend and constant source of joy, and I share this gift with others so that it might help them to find the same joy. After more than 10 years of teaching, I have so many new experiences to draw from and share with my students. I've spent the last 8 years performing with Disney in Anaheim and abroad in their Tokyo Disney cast, and I must say that those experiences, vast and varied as they are, have given the word "performance" a new depth. I'm always excited to dive into every lesson with fresh ideas that will mesh well with many tried and tested teaching techniques.
Originally from Los Angeles, I now reside in Orange County and I'm especially proud to have expanded my studio to serving clients all over the world with online lessons via Skype and FaceTime! I get such joy from sharing my experiences with a diverse group of people from all walks of life. If you're interested in learning more about my lesson style, feel free to contact me and I'd be happy to talk with you about a plan to help you reach your goals!
For Students of Voice: Teaching Style
Over the past several years I have focused much of my personal growth on developing my ears' ability to pick out and pinpoint vocal “placement”, resonance, subtleties of timbre, changes in pitch, breath support, air speed and flow, pronunciation and diction, and in general, the way in which all of these work together to create style. From these assessments, I work with the student’s particular needs to address each area individually and based on the learning style of each person. To illustrate to the student their method as I see and hear it, as well as ways in which they might make changes to facilitate the ease of singing --be they changes of tessitura (range), length of phrase, tone color, the release of unnecessary tension etc.-- I make use of vocalise (vocal exercises), simile and metaphor, examples from recorded performances, demonstration, self assessment, and techniques to “trick” the voice into acting in a different way, in addition to videos, diagrams, and texts on anatomy and physiology. I feel that all of these tools provide a unique and personalized learning experience for each student.
