Jill H.

Winter Springs, FL

Learning to play the guitar includes tuning, technique, theory and the willingness to practice. Beginning students learn to play treble clef musical notation, rhythm and chords. As the student advances, the music becomes more intricate and tablature is introduced as a form of reading guitar music. As the student feels comfortable, the guitar solo is introduced. The student will be introduced to key signatures and learn the primary chords for each key.

About Jill

Jill holds a Bachelor's degree in Music Education and has master's work in choral music. For many years she has taught private and group music lessons to all ages and many varying styles of singing and instrumental music. Her lessons are unlike the ones she remembers from childhood; Jill's lessons are full of creativity, fun and excitement. It is amazing how students improve with each lesson. Jill brings more than just technique to the studio, she strives to find the best in each student and then concentrates on improving each individual's strengths and then delves into ways to correct the weaknesses. Since Jill is a vocal soloist, instrumentalist, accompanist and director, she knows what it takes to prepare and rehearse and therefore she makes it clear which concept the student ...

Jill is a wonderful teacher. She is patient and creative in teaching, good at communicating her musical ideas with children. My son progressed a lot under her instruction. We really hate to say goodbye to her because we have to leave America. Her classes are part of our best memories here.

Nate C.

Oviedo, FL

With guitar, I cover all the basics: chords, scales, reading tab or standard notation (or both), and playing that song you wished you knew how to play.

My method book is flexible, and I generally incorporate as many known songs as possible to encourage students' desire to practice.

Once the basics are down, we can move on to advanced techniques like harmonics, tapping, alternate tunings, and more. I can also help students trying to learn advance instruments like 7 or 8 string guitars.

I have an extensive background in theory and use it to help students understand the basics of songwriting as well as the basics of improvising lead lines over chords another guitarist is playing.

About Nate

I've been teaching private lessons for over a decade now. First I taught lessons as a self-employed college student, and then my during graduate studies I worked through a music academy in Dallas. I've been playing piano for over 20 years and guitar and drums for 15. I've been in various bands, personally recorded several albums of my own compositions, and have taught students from ages 7-17 consistently. I teach part time as a high school teacher in the area and I enjoy helping young people learn, whether it's guitar, piano, drums, or even psychology *** Lesson Details *** I'm very laid back when it comes to lessons, but I do expect students to spend at least 90 minutes weekly practicing so our lessons will be productive. I generally use either Alfred or Suzuki for piano lessons, and

During this time he attended recitals of such notables as Andre Segovia, Julian Bream and John Williams. Being immersed in this musical scene inspired him to make music his life. I've had a great experience as Eric's student. He is highly knowledgeable as a guitar teacher and I have loved learning classical technique from him. And I'm kind of picky, since I already have a degree in music and am also a music teacher! He has really helped me broaden my skills as a guitarist and I can highly recommend him as a teacher for all kinds of guitar styles.

Eric is a very good teacher. I have no experience in music at all and his instruction offered a nice mix of basic music knowledge and uke specific teaching. In a short time he showed me a variety of playing techniques for the uke that gives me a lot to strive for while offering exercises and instruction for me to work on that will help me steadily improve.
